Who knew that Nirvana recorded a jingle for Pat's Chili Dogs? Have you seen the commercial?

00:00a significant uh historical musical event took place 30 years ago uh kurt cobain died his passing

00:11is for me anyway one of those where were you when you heard it moments in life and do you guys

00:16remember where you were when you know what we were talking off air about that uh chuck was in here

00:21and steve and i and oddly enough for his i don't remember i i do i was um i went to bucknell

00:27university and penn state was only about 45 minutes away and i was hanging out with some

00:31friends it was just a nice spring day and um it was obviously pre-internet pre-cell phones and

00:37whatever and it just started to be one of those word of the mouth things and it was did you did

00:41you hear about kurt cobain and it kind of like swept over the entire college campus in a really

00:46awful and tragic way i remember being really sad and down about it i remember watching a

00:52something on vh1 and it was um jamie lane of warrant the band warrant who was having huge hits they

01:01were had huge hit success and the i think he he said he came into the uh the record company's office

01:07and like the day after uh spells like teen spirit hit their big picture behind the desk of the front

01:16offices of the uh uh of the the record company the warrant picture was taken down and the nirvana

01:24nirvana picture was put up because it all that stuff all that kind of glam rock thing which i i did have

01:30fun with at the time when it was the the format du jour um it had gotten old it was repetitive the

01:38same stuff was coming out people were cranking this out factory-ish and it was factory-ish it was it was

01:43also uh very shallow yeah and then all of a sudden this heavy guitar oriented stuff without guitar

01:50solos and by by the way the guitar solos were getting ridiculous at that time too they were

01:54just super duper speedy and and and anyway there was there was a um there was a uh a kind of a candy

02:00coated uh feel that a lot of the music rock music had at that time except for guns and roses yes they

02:06were already happening and they had they had made a change as well they were transcending

02:10but nirvana took it in another direction and then with them right behind them walking through the

02:16door was pearl jam and stunt double pilots and sound garden and it was like oh my god an entire

02:22format of music came out and then you had the toadies and all these other bands just started

02:27hitting and and it was a it was a really cool it was very exciting time for rock music did you see

02:35the the video surface sometimes of nirvana's patch chili dog commercial no i missed it it was really

02:41good i gotta see that there's a meme that's been uh sent around many times and i love it it's uh

02:47these were released 44 days of each other 1991 metallica's black album pearl jam 10 guns and roses

02:52use your illusion one and two which are great gnr records by the way uh blood blood sugar sugar sex

02:58magic by the peppers bad motor finger by sound garden and never mind by nirvana yeah a lot of people

03:02were looking for something new yeah at that time because i was i was starting to come around

03:07up that's chilly if you like your dogs it's past chilly dog

03:44it's sensational and uh for of course you have a slight love of batman but chiquino's music and

03:52that everything together is perfect that's a little some of some of that that alt stuff got a little too

03:57too dark yeah and mopey for me like that song but just rape me
