Peep Show: Super Chill Ambulance Accident

Dave & Chuck the Freak talk about an ambulance that was being rammed by a car and then that car got stuck and was being dragged by the ambulance. The driver called 911 and both he and the 911 operator were extremely calm through the whole ordeal.

00:00Well, this is a story that's pretty crazy.

00:08A driver got stuck in their car behind a Detroit ambulance and were dragged for two miles.

00:16But it turns out that driver rammed the ambulance on purpose, but then got stuck behind it.

00:24Here's the story of why this happened now from WDIV-TV.

00:28We're south of 8 Mile. We've got a car that is continuously hitting us from the rear.

00:36At St. Albans heading southbound.

00:39This Detroit EMS rescue team driving medic number 15 describing their chaotic drive Monday morning

00:46with a car ramming, jamming and slamming them from behind.

00:51They are continuously pushing us right now.

00:53This happening on the city's east side.

00:55We're still south on Coney. We just passed 7 Mile now.

00:59That crew not stopping. They're trying to get away from this driver dispatch, urging that crew to somehow

01:06respond to the 11th precinct.

01:08Get to the 11th precinct.

01:10Driving like this for more than two miles, it became evident that the car was stuck on the back of that ambulance.

01:17We left the precinct, though. We're coming in hot.

01:20I don't know if they're attached to our bumper or not, but they keep pushing us.

01:22We're pulling up. Medic 15, your exact location.

01:25We're out front. We can't turn in the driveway here.

01:27The car is just behind us on the back side.

01:30The wall is turning in. Medic 15 is coming outside.

01:34Yeah, we see them coming out now.

01:36So that's what you have to do now.

01:37You have to just drive right to the police station.

01:40It's happening all the way up this way towards the 11th precinct. Officers coming out this way to help.

01:45If you noticed the window, driver's side window of that Jeep that was on the ambulance was smashed out.

01:50That's because officers, police officers, had to smash that out to get to the driver.

01:55This, we've learned, is a mental health emergency.

01:58Those officers were able to get the driver to the hospital.

02:01He is apparently going to be okay.

02:03The medics are okay.

02:04But Kimberly and Karen, medics that see everything on the streets here, were perplexed.

02:08They haven't seen something like this.

02:10Scary thing to go through.

02:12You wonder why someone is ramming you in your ambulance.

02:15This guy was calm about it.

02:16He's like, yeah, he's ramming us right now.

02:18He was really calm.

02:20Everyone.

02:21And the cops seemingly didn't even care.

02:25They're like, oh, hell, where are you at?

02:28Oh, man.

02:31So he's ramming you?

02:33He's like, basically, almost maybe possibly stuck to you.

02:44He keeps hitting the gas on us.

03:02He was ramming into us on the road, and then, um, he kind of, he's either attached to us

03:50I think we're going to have some trouble pulling into the parking lot with this guy attached to our bumper.

03:56You probably can't pull in?

03:58I mean, we'll try.

04:00Because, you know, you could park, like, right in front of the door so we don't have to walk.

04:05Yeah, this guy is going absolutely crazy right now.

04:20Crazy guy stuck to a bumper.

04:23They're driving right to us.

04:29They're going to put their food down right now.

04:31They're going to come outside and see what's going on.

04:48But I'm glad they finally, when they got outside in their front yard, they realized, yeah, we should smash this window out and grab this guy.
