00:00Lauren! Hi! How's it going? Good. I'm great. Your fans are ride or die. I'll tell you that because
00:10they joined on. They have been waiting patiently. They're like, we've watched five of these already
00:15and we're going to watch another one. So you're giving people stuff to do at home. Honestly,
00:20everyone's so bored. So this is great that you're doing this and talking to so many stations. We
00:24appreciate it. Of course. I'm happy to do it. You look so pretty. Oh, thank you. You gave me
00:29an excuse. This is the first time I've put on makeup in seriously months. I was like,
00:33Well, it looks great. Good job. Oh, thank you. I'm like, do a lot with Lauren Elena. I can
00:38put mascara on. Yes, I'm there. So how's everything going? How's the foot? I'm sure everyone's
00:43been asking the story behind that. I know you took out the trash and you hurt your foot.
00:47So how's it doing? It's getting better. I'm in a boot. It's still in the boot. How long
00:55do you have to be in it for? I don't know. I'm going back to the doctor next week to find
01:01out if it's healing properly. But I don't really know. It depends on that. Yeah. But
01:09the doctor said that the one, I broke two of my toes and one, I just kind of broke a little
01:15bit. And when I really, really broke. Yeah. And he said the one that I broke pretty badly
01:21would take about 12 weeks to fully heal. So do you think we'll get out of quarantine
01:26first? Or do you think your foot will be healed first? Hopefully, hopefully we're out of quarantine
01:33by then. And then you'll get your boot off shortly thereafter. I think I'll be in the I think
01:38I could walk without the boot in the next couple of weeks. Oh, okay. Nice. Have you had to
01:43perform yet with it on? Because I know you were at the Aubrey. And you okay, got it.
01:47No, that happened after that. So I tried to get it. I don't know how I would get around
01:53the stage. Honestly, I guess I would bring my scooter. There you go. Well, it actually
01:59looks like fun. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, I've entertained myself quite a bit with that
02:03scooter. What else have you been doing in quarantine to stay busy? I've been riding a
02:09lot of music. Nice. Do you feel pressure to write a lot of music? Like, since so many
02:16other artists have been going on social media and sharing songs, even some of them releasing
02:21them straight to radio, like Florida Georgia Line, do you feel like, crap, I gotta get on
02:25it? Or do you just kind of go with the flow? So I love to write. It's probably my favorite
02:31thing to do. Like when I'm when I'm home, I'm always writing, even if I'm not writing for
02:36a project, because I just love to do it. And I write for Warner Chapel. So I I'm always
02:44writing. And when I'm writing for a record, I don't really feel pressure. I just I'm more
02:50strategic in the writing. Like, I've been I made a list of about 20 songs that I feel
02:55like I could cut for the album. And yeah, I'm excited. And I looked at the like, what the
03:03themes of the songs and if I was missing anything, you know, if I needed a breakup song, or if
03:08I needed a love song, or if I needed, I do not need any more breakup songs, I can tell
03:12you that. Um, yeah, that cover. Yeah, that area is covered. But um, so yeah, I don't really
03:19feel pressure because I love it so much. But yeah, I've been writing. I've been writing
03:24a lot.
03:25When you write songs, do you have that feeling like a lot of artists do when you actually
03:30get in the studio and you cut the song because there's a process that people may not understand.
03:34So once you actually get to the point where you're recording a song in the studio, do you
03:38are actually before that, when you're just singing it to yourself, you go like, okay,
03:42this this could be a hit? Or do you not feel that till after you record it?
03:47Every song is different. Like with Road Less Traveled, I knew the day that I wrote it. But
03:51I kind of know when I write the songs, if there's something that I want, would want to
03:57do. But other like, you know, some songs just kind of rise to the top. Um, but find
04:04that those are the easier ones to write or the harder ones?
04:08Every song is different. And it depends on who I'm writing with. If I'm writing with new
04:12people or if I'm writing by myself or everything's different. I typically like to write with two
04:19other people. Um, and I like writing with like a track person who could build out the song
04:25and then, um, a lyricist that, or someone who's good at melodies. Yeah. Um, but every song's
04:36different. I, I love it so much and I've done it so long. It's never really, really hard. Like
04:43there are some rights that are hard if I'm just not in the right mood or if we're just
04:48not coming up with anything, but yeah, it's like everything, you know, sometimes you might
04:53have to just like put it away and come back to it. Like any other project, I feel like
04:57does that ever happen?
04:58Yeah. Sometimes like I, sometimes you have to know, like if the session, sometimes I write
05:03songs in two different sessions, like painting pillows, which was on my last album. I wrote
05:10I wrote that song in two different sessions. So everyone's, every song's different.
05:15Sounds different. Got it. So congratulations on your latest single, the same name as your
05:20album too. Getting good. I love it. And I love the message behind it because it's so relatable.
05:25I think that every person, boy, girl, whoever can or has experienced that feeling where you're
05:31like, okay, once I get the car, then I'm going to be so happy. Once I get the home, then I'm
05:36going to be happy. So what is it for you that you think really is that thing where you're
05:41like, okay, you know what? I've made it like, you're happy, but like, you're like, okay,
05:45well, this really is it.
05:48The thing that means the most to me in the whole wide world, like when I feel like there
05:55are no problems or it's when I go home and my little nephews run to me and they like, also,
06:02this was so sweet. I, um, like maybe the biggest compliment I've ever been given was by my four
06:09year old nephew Bentley. Uh, we were honest, four year olds are super honest. So that's
06:13good.
06:14We were, I mean, he knows, like I asked him what's my job and he says, you sing on the
06:20stage, but he doesn't like totally understand what that means. And he has no idea what fame
06:25is or any of that. And I, I always want to protect the kids from that obviously, but we
06:33were out and, um, people ask me for pictures, you know, when I, when we're out and especially
06:40in my hometown. And, um, we were, we were at the jump park. I think I took him to, you
06:47know, the, the like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And the trampoline park. And once one person figures
06:54out who you are and asked for a picture, it's kind of like a bunch of people do. And so I
07:00was jumping with him and then I would have to stop to take pictures and, um, it's actually
07:07okay because it's kids and families and I love interacting with people. It doesn't bother
07:11me. I don't ever want my, the kids in the pictures. So I will like find their parents
07:18or whatever, which they don't really jump over to another trampoline to take it. Yeah.
07:22So I said to him, Bentley, why do people ask? He calls me Lala. Why do people ask Lala for
07:29pictures? And he says, he thought about it. He says, I don't know. I guess because you're
07:34nice to me. Oh, it was like the best compliment ever. And I was like, I don't have to have
07:44anything except for my family. And all of these things that I get to do are just a bonus.
07:50You know, the, the fact that hits or being on stage, those things are my passion and my
07:56dream. But like my nephew thinking I'm a good aunt is all in it. You know, that takes the
08:02cake. Yeah. That's all you need. When's the last time you've gotten to see them?
08:06I FaceTime with them a lot. I haven't seen them. It's been since
08:13February. I think that's how everyone feels. It's been a long time. Obviously, um, you know,
08:22I'm in Nashville and they live in Georgia and I've just not wanted to get out, you know,
08:28and I, we can't now, but, um, I'm looking forward to the day that I get to go down there and see
08:36them. I bet. Well, Christina, one of your fans has been messaging in over and over. She wants to
08:41know what is the best gift that you've ever received from, from a fan?
08:47Hmm. I get lots of really cool gifts. Um, I think right now I'm really thankful for the fans that
08:55bought me hand sanitizer because I'm kind of a germaphobe and I have an endless supply of hand
09:01sanitizer because they will literally buy me hand sanitizer and get it. That is amazing. It's a hot
09:08commodity right now. So normally I would say onesies, but right now the answer is hand sanitizer.
09:14Well, that's when you know that it's love when people are willing to share their toilet paper or
09:18their hand sanitizer with you right now. That's very true. Very true. So I wanted to play a game with
09:24you. Have a little fun. All right. Okay. It's called Laurentine or Borentine. Okay. Okay. Right.
09:32So basically if you would do it while you're in quarantine, then it's Laurentine. And if you
09:36wouldn't do it, then it's Borentine. Okay. Okay. All right. Would you do a puzzle? Laurentine or Borentine?
09:44Laurentine. Laurentine.
09:47Spend too much time on TikTok.
09:48The boot really ruined my TikTok plans. Yes. That means I wish I had a boot right now that I
09:56could blame that and say, you know what? I can't do TikTok. I have a boot. Okay. Organize your
10:01pantry. I know you got a new house. Darn it. Laurentine. Laurentine. So basically I'll do anything.
10:09Message an old friend or an ex?
10:13Borentine. I'm with you.
10:14Well, you threw me on ex. I'm an old friend maybe. Well, these are things that people have
10:18been doing in quarantine. I'm like, no, just because we're bored doesn't mean you have to
10:22text him. Okay. How about your book? Laurentine.
10:27Any good ones?
10:29Do you do audio or regular?
10:32I have a Kindle, but I also like to hold an actual book. I don't have a book right now.
10:38I need to get one, but I have a book right here. I'm going to do this for kids. I'm going
10:45to read this book for kids. Oh, good night, man. That's a classic. Yeah. So I have this
10:50book. Wait, so you're going to do a live and read it to kids? I'm going to do a little video
10:55and, um, I think there's a school or something. I can't remember exactly what I'm doing it for,
11:00but yeah. You should tell your nephew to tune in. Oh, I should. That'd be cute. Okay. Final
11:06one. Tiger King. Laurentine or Borentine? Guilty. Guilty. We all are. At some point, it's like,
11:15I don't know. I'm going to get into a new Netflix show. I don't know if you've watched Too Hot
11:18to Handle. That one is crazy. I haven't. I'll start it. Too Hot to Handle. I don't know. It's
11:24honestly, like it's a little too much for me. It's, it's crazy. Okay. I'll read about it first.
11:31There you go. Well, thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with me and I hope that your
11:36foot feels better and thanks, uh, on behalf of all the fans as well. Cause I know that they're
11:42bored at home and they said that they've been watching so many of these Instagram lives and
11:46it's given them something to look forward to. We're getting a lot of Carol Baskin.
11:49Yeah, I think what, yeah. Do you think she did it?
11:57Where did he go? I don't know. What's the other
12:00explanation? I think the dead giveaway was that part where they showed the will
12:08and it said, or like, until I disappear. And the lawyer said, I would never,
12:14I've never seen that in a will before. I was like, well, now she seems guilty.
12:17Yeah. So we'll see what happens with that, but thank you so much. I really appreciate it and stay
12:23safe and sending you lots of love and success on the new hour.
