I finally got my hands on Aldi's garlic bread crisps

After visiting three stores and leaving empty handed, I finally managed to get my hands on the limited edition Aldi garlic bread flavour crisps...

00:00Hi, my name's Jack Marshall. I'm a digital food and drink reporter and welcome to another one of our food reviews.

00:06And I've finally done it, guys. I've managed to get my hands on Aldi's limited edition, specially selected garlic bread flavoured crisps.

00:14Now, I did mention these in a previous video and in a previous review I've done and I just couldn't get a hold of them.

00:20They are part of Aldi's special buys range, which is essentially, as their tagline says, once it's gone, it's gone.

00:26They get these things in, they sell them, that's it. They're very limited edition in that sense.

00:30So, I was just kind of like wondering through my local Aldi recently and I saw that they were there waiting for me.

00:38I wasn't even looking for them. I've kind of given up hope. I've been to three Aldi's previously to see if I could get them.

00:42Finally managed to get them when I wasn't looking. So, I was looking for it in full effect.

00:45So, I thought, do a bit of a taste test, let you know what they're like.

00:49I've never had garlic bread flavoured crisps before. I've got an idea of what it'll taste like.

00:53I'm obviously going to think it's going to be very garlicky. That suits me down to the ground.

00:57I love garlic and that's absolutely fine. I'm not going on any hot dates later.

01:01So, my breath, don't have to worry about that. I can have all the garlic I want.

01:05So, yeah, let's see what they like. Have a batch of something pretty unique.

01:10This kind of brand of, this kind of genre rather of crinkle cut chips, crisps rather, that Aldi do are really nice.

01:17The ones I've had before, they're quite good. So, really interesting to see what they like when we've got the garlic bread flavour in as well.

01:23They're quite dark in colour, very garlicky and they look a bit oily, but, yeah, so you've got one there, as you can see.

01:38It's quite good in the sense that with some crinkle cut chips, they can almost be a bit paler, but because they've got an increased surface area,

01:44they're, like, they've, like, fried nice and golden. So, I'm going to try a smaller one and see what they like.

01:51Take one out.

01:57Very herby.

02:00The garlic comes through after a few mouthfuls.

02:02It's like the garlic coating is what brings the flavour.

02:05Yeah, they're very nice.

02:10They're really nice.

02:11They really do taste some garlic bread as well.

02:13They've got that down to a tick.

02:15It's even got, like, the herbiness, which you can get with some bits of bread.

02:19So, yeah, I think they've knocked it out of the park with those.

02:21They're very nice.

02:22I'm going to have another batch.

02:22Really good.

02:30I think what helps these is the fact that because they've got the crinkle cut shape, excuse me,

02:36they've got a bigger surface area to kind of capture the flavoured dust, which gives them the flavour.

02:42So, that's a really, like, important point, them really having that garlicky punch.

02:47So, yeah, I'm a big fan of those.

02:49It's a shame they're a special buy.

02:50It's a shame that, like I said before, once they're gone, they're gone.

02:52Once, because I could see those being a hit.

02:54Apparently, these have been huge previously.

02:57Like, as soon as Aldi announced these again, people were celebrating on social media.

03:00They were all over it, which is probably why it's been a little hard to get my hands on a bag.

03:04But let me know if you've had any trouble getting your hands on a bag of these,

03:07if you absolutely love them, if you wish that Aldi would make them a permanent part of their kind of, like, crisps roster.
