Hi guys, Chet Marshall here, Digital Reporter for the Lancashire Post. Winter evenings,
00:09
so it's getting cold, it's dark. I'm on my way to another pizza spot. We're getting towards
00:15
the end of our third series with LPEats. This is our penultimate pizza place. We're going
00:21
to Antonio's on Watery Lane, National Ribble. Let's go check it out.
00:32
Hi guys, so when I left here I was just heading across Preston towards Antonio's to grab myself
00:37
a pizza. Now I had pretty high expectations for this place because it's got a really good
00:41
reputation and it received a lot of recommendations when we asked people for their top spots. Now,
00:46
first impressions. The place was nice. It was a classic takeaway. The vibe was fine. The people
00:53
were fine. It was nice. I'm giving them a three out of five for the vibe. It was just a takeaway
00:59
place. There's nothing really to write home about. There's not really much else to say on that front,
01:03
but most importantly, we're talking about the food itself. Now the dough, the dough was nice.
01:08
It was slightly more thick than you'd really want from like a classic Italian, which is where it
01:12
was leaning more towards the typical British pizzeria takeaway, where you do get a bit more
01:17
of a thick dough, but it tasted really good. It did have a nice flavor profile to it, which was
01:21
a nice addition. The sauce and the cheese, it needed more cheese. I was missing a bit of a stringy
01:28
bite. The sauce was okay, a bit basic, nothing really to write home about, but the notable thing
01:33
there was it needed more of a cheese. So I'm giving them a three out of five for the dough
01:38
and a two out of five for the sauce and the cheese. Where it really came through Antonio's
01:44
pizza was with the toppings. The pepperoni on this was perfect. Exactly what you want from
01:48
a pepperoni pizza. It was thick. There was plenty of it. It had a nice bite to it. It had a nice
01:53
flavor profile to it. It wasn't too salty. It wasn't too kind of like going missing with the
01:58
flavor profiles. It hit home. It was nice. There was plenty of it. Perfect. Five out of five.
02:03
Now finally, we're coming onto the value. Now on this evening, I'd previously been out to another
02:10
establishment to do a lunch review. So I was absolutely stuffed. So I thought I've got to
02:14
try this, but I don't want to overwhelm myself by getting like a 12 inch pizza. So I got a six inch
02:17
pizza, which is, you know, plenty. It's like a snack size thing. It still gave me an idea of
02:23
the vibe of the thing. Now I paid four pound 80 for that six inch pizza, which I thought was a
02:28
good price for the amount of food you got. Like it was, it was a, you know, a solidly sized,
02:33
small pizza. It was fine. Um, but for four pound 80, I think, you know, getting changed from a
02:37
five is pretty good. So I'm giving them a 3.5 out of five on that front for that amount of food,
02:42
for that quality of food. I think it was pretty good. I was pretty happy with that. That gives
02:46
them a total of 16.5 out of 25, which is a very solid score indeed. Anyway. So I was really pleased
02:51
to finally be able to head down to Antonio's and try it out. Hope you've enjoyed watching. Join us
02:54
next week when we're doing our final pizza review in the series, and then we can finally look to
02:58
crown a winner. Cheers for watching.
