I tried German Doner Kebab's new Doritos 'KeBag' and it was disgusting

After German Doner Kebab announced their new limited edition TikTok-inspired 'KeBag' - a mix of Doritos crisps with doner meat, salad, and sauce - I had to try it... Here's what I made of it.

00:00Hi, my name's Chad Marshall. I'm a digital food and drink reporter and welcome to another

00:05one of our food reviews. We're basically have a try of something new, which is out there

00:10and the local in the food market in the local food market in the national food market. And

00:14we let you know what we think of it. And this week, I've been trying something which just

00:18kind of blew my mind a little bit. The concept of it is a bit wacky. It's a bit out there.

00:22But as is usually the case with things which are a bit left field, it originated on social

00:26media. And that is the new concept being run by German Doner kebab, the chain of kebab

00:32places called the kebag. Now, this is essentially based off the social media TikTok trend of

00:40people getting bags of crisps, big family share of bags of crisps, crunching them all

00:45down into smaller pieces, pieces, opening it up and go into their favorite fast food,

00:51street vans, food vendors, wherever it might be and getting stuff put in there. Usually

00:56Doner meat or some of the kind of grilled meats, things like that. So GDK have got on

01:00board with this and they partnered with Doritos to offer their own version of this called

01:04the kebag. So essentially a kebab without the naan bread carb element of it. And everything

01:10is replaced by your own bag of Doritos. And you can get the chili heatwave ones or the

01:15other less spicy ones. And you essentially get your meat put in there. It's mixed up.

01:19It's got it's got all the salad and stuff as well. And so I was curious to see what

01:23it was going to be like, like, I've got to say that the sound of it, the sound of it

01:28sounded like it would kind of weirdly work. But I was also curious to see what that would

01:32actually look like in practice. So I went down to my local GDK to try it out, picked

01:37it up. It was expensive, actually, like don't get me wrong, you get a big, it's a big share

01:41of bag of Doritos. But it costs 9.99. So essentially a tenner. And yeah, there's plenty of food

01:49there. But essentially, at the end of the day, a lot of it is just Doritos. You've essentially

01:54paid a tenner for a lot of bag of Doritos. And you definitely get slightly, well, I think

01:59you definitely get slightly less meat in the kebag as what you would do from a regular

02:03kebab itself. I don't think it worked as the headline for me. I don't think the concept

02:10worked. The crisps, the Doritos themselves needed to be ground down a bit more. So almost

02:16like the meat was mixing with not mixing with it's not like a paste, but it kind of

02:21gets coated like a Dorito powder. I think that would have worked better because then

02:25you would have got the flavor of the Dorito. But the main focus of the meal still would

02:28have been the kebab meat itself, which is essentially, it's the protein of the meal.

02:32That's what you're going for. I'm not there to eat a load of Doritos, which have been

02:37like grazed by a bit of kebab meat. There wasn't that much meat in there. The flavor

02:42was okay. It worked less than I thought it would. But that might have just been the fact

02:47that they were essentially just full Doritos in there. So I was having like a full Dorito,

02:50one of you get one, it like, that's just a dry Dorito, you'd eat that and then you'd

02:53eat a bit of chicken. It's like, it's not mixed as a meal. It didn't come together as

02:57much as it should or could have done. And so I was a little underwhelmed. I've got to

03:02say the look of it as well. Didn't look appetizing. It kind of looked like you're eating trash.

03:06I've got to say it looked like you're eating rubbish. Um, yeah, they, they also, they were

03:12addition stuff. Like there was, there was like melted squirty cheese on there as well,

03:17which that has no place being on a regular kebab. So it doesn't have any place being

03:22on this kind of kebab either. I just thought it was a bit of a gimmick. It made it almost like

03:26bad nachos. Uh, yeah. So overall it didn't work for me. Like I said, I was intrigued by this.

03:31It didn't taste good. It's, it wasn't, it wasn't satisfying and I don't think the concept

03:37fundamentally worked. It just, it didn't mix as well as I thought it would. So yeah. Um,

03:42underwhelmed by that. Had to try it out. It sounded crazy. Um, it proved to be pretty
