Hello kebab fans, here we are again on the way across Preston for another kebab review
00:10
as part of LP Eats. I know I'm in danger of making this like my weekly weather update
00:18
for the city centre, I don't want to go all Owein Winn Evans but still waiting for that
00:25
proper spring weather if I'm honest. I need temperatures to hurry up and start rising
00:31
a little bit but anyway enough of that. Today I'm heading down Friargate again but going
00:35
past it this time, going to Greek Cuisina, Greek Cuisina, any Greek people feel free
00:43
to hammer me for pronunciation there but yeah heading down to try their version, a Greek
00:48
version rather than a Middle Eastern version of a chicken wrap, a chicken shawarma, probably
00:53
more along the Giros side of things so yeah just walking down there now, let's go see
00:58
what it's all about.
00:59
Right kebab fans, we have secured the piping hot bag of meaty goodies. Yeah, I'm going
01:29
to give a good impression of the restaurant, I mean it's pretty quiet, I suppose it's a
01:32
Monday, people are starting new health kicks, not really wanting to start the week with
01:38
a kebab which I understand, I'm probably pretty unique in doing that. So yeah it was okay
01:44
in there, they were friendly, they were helpful, a bit of Greek music going on but anyway yeah
01:50
so I've got the kebab, it did cost £7.90 which I think is our most expensive kebab
01:55
yet so that is something to bear in mind when reviewing this but I'm going to go back into
02:00
the office, crack it open and we can have a look and see what the goods are like, see
02:04
what a £7.90 kebab costs you, see what a £7.90 kebab looks like in Preston.
02:12
Okay so here we are, opening up the wonderful little package that Greek Cuisina gave us
02:19
and first impressions were that this was not the biggest thing in the world, I mean it
02:23
looked pretty hefty in terms of how much was packed in there so you're definitely not
02:28
being, you're not scrimping on the size of anything here and I definitely didn't need
02:32
anything else for lunch, this was plenty. But yeah first impressions were good, it was
02:38
kind of like professionally put together, it smelled amazing, the naan bread was good
02:42
so cracked it open and I mean it just had everything you could want from a kebab as
02:47
you can see, it's got just brilliant chips on top, the fries were lovely and crunchy,
02:51
they didn't like get soaked up by any sauce or anything like that, the meat was amazing,
02:56
the salad was nice as you can see, dead crispy so got rid of the chips and then cracked it
03:00
open to have a proper look at everything in there and as you can see I mean, looking pretty
03:04
good at this stage isn't it, I mean there's not many people who turn their nose up at
03:08
that so I was very very excited to get stuck in and so here's what I thought.
03:13
Hello kebab fans, Jack Marshall here, digital reporter and kebab aficionado with the Lunch
03:20
Post, so as you'll know from watching our LP Eats series, this is just another bit of
03:25
a score round up for my review of Greek Cuisina, again apologies for mispronouncing that if
03:31
I'm tripping over it, I'm not a Hellenic man in any way shape or form, Greek is quite literally
03:38
a foreign language so apologies in advance. But anyway so straight to the kebab, now as
03:42
you know we grade it on five different categories so we'll start with the naan bread, the naan
03:46
bread in this kebab was a five out of five, it was flawless, it was perfect, it was everything
03:51
you want from a kebab, naan, it was soft, it was pillowy, it was tasty, it was, there's
03:55
clearly a lot of love gone into it, the fact that it's not just a by-product of the thing
04:01
you're eating, it's not just there, it was actually part of it, it was tasty, it was
04:05
delicious, brilliant, can't fault it, literally no other comments, what you supposed to do
04:08
if it's a five out of five, go and try it, it's great.
04:11
On to the meat now, the meat is a four point five out of five and the only reason I'm marking
04:15
it down by half a point is because I felt like there could be more of it because it
04:20
was just so good. Now that's not to say that I didn't feel like full having eaten it for
04:24
my lunch, this whole kebab was filling, it was perfect on that front, but when something's
04:29
so good you want more of it, it was brilliant, it was really nice, it was succulent, it was
04:32
tasty, it was something a bit different, it was, I don't know, it really stood out so
04:36
that was a four point five, obviously we've got really good scores so far.
04:39
On to the vibe of the place now, people have walked past, you know, going up Frygate and
04:43
heading towards the city centre and we'll know that Greek cuisine is kind of famous,
04:47
it's got the music playing outside, it's a little quiet inside, I did turn up a little
04:52
bit late for my lunch because I was busy in the morning, but the vibe could have been
04:57
a bit better, it's a three out of five on that front, it was fine, everyone was dead
05:00
friendly in there, could have had a bit more hustle and bustle to it but I suppose that's
05:04
kind of semi out of their control, but anyway it's three on that front.
05:07
The price, now the kebab, the kind of gyros wrap did cost me seven pound ninety which
05:13
is quite a lot for lunch, that's not the kind of sustainable price that you're going to
05:17
get every single day is it?
05:20
It's a two out of five on that front, two because it's quite expensive, it's not really
05:26
sustainable, you can't really have it every day and it wasn't the biggest in the world
05:31
either, it was fine, it was a normal amount but like for something that pricey, I don't
05:36
know, I felt like there could have been more food involved there, but yeah, not the worst
05:41
thing in the world but I just feel like there's a couple of things going against it there.
05:44
Finally onto the extras, the extras were a four point five out of five, there were some
05:48
chips in there which were delicious, there was some salad in there which was dead fresh
05:52
and crunchy and lovely, the garlic mayo sauce in there was brilliant as well.
05:56
That's about it really, I mean there was nothing more you could ask for from it apart from
06:00
the fact that maybe there could have been a couple more chips because they were just
06:03
kind of, they were a bit of an afterthought but I think that ties in the fact that it
06:06
wasn't the biggest thing in the world so they couldn't exactly pack it out with chips.
06:10
But that's my only slight mark down against four point five out of five so overall we've
06:15
got a twenty one out of twenty five for this kebab from Greek Casino which puts it in the
06:20
lead so far, it's the best one we've had so far in this series so brilliant news, go and
06:26
try it, it was delicious, what more can you say?
