00:00It is Early Voting reaching for the wire!
00:03Epicenter closing on the inside!
00:05Early Voting Epicenter!
00:07Early Voting comes inside and wins it!
00:09He wins the Preakness by election!
00:11Preakness winner Early Voting is special to Three Chimneys Farm for more reasons than one.
00:15Not only is he the first Classic winner for their Sire Sensation Gun Runner,
00:19but he's also the first Classic winner bred at Three Chimneys under its current ownership.
00:24We stopped by the farm to visit the dam of Early Voting as well as her latest foal,
00:28a filly from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Volatile.
00:32Early Voting is the first Classic winner bred by Three Chimneys under the Torre Alba ownership,
00:39and it's a significant achievement for the farm.
00:42It's what we get up for and what we strive to do every single day
00:46is to breed and raise, sell and race horses at the top level of the sport.
00:52Amor de Ate was purchased at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $1.75 million.
01:00It was a pretty hefty price tag, but given she was a big, pretty filly, half-sister to Spicetown,
01:07we also knew she had residual value as a broodmare.
01:11Unfortunately, she never made it to the races due to an injury,
01:16so she was integrated into our broodmare band in 2015.
01:21Early Voting, when he was born, it was a normal birth, average-sized foal.
01:28And I went and looked at everybody's notes that had scored him as he developed,
01:33and he always had positive comments.
01:37I think the nicest thing, you know, was that everybody had nothing negative to say about him.
01:44He was correct in his legs, his good foot, and just a really nice foal.
01:51So Early Voting sold in Book 2 at the Keeneland September Sale for $200,000,
01:56where he was just meeting his reserve.
01:58We were actually a little bit disappointed with the result.
02:02We had valued him a little bit higher, but he did sell,
02:06and luckily he caught the attention of Mike Ryan, who purchased him
02:10and incorporated him into Chad Brown and Klarevich's program,
02:15and they have just done a phenomenal job with the colt.
02:19We couldn't be more pleased with Gunrunner's performance as a sire,
02:23having a champion two-year-old in your first crop,
02:25then going on to have a Preakness winner, five Grade 1 winners.
02:29It's just exceptional what he's done.
02:31It won't come as a surprise that Amorete is going back to Gunrunner this year.
02:36She's in folds of the stallion.
02:38She has a two-year-old filly by Gunrunner, a full sister to Early Voting here on the farm.
02:44We also have a half-sister filly by Constitution, who's pointing to the September Sale,
02:50and her lovely filly by Volatile that we're looking at today.
02:56Across the board, we're very pleased with Volatile's first crop of foals.
03:00We have an exceptional group here at Three Chimneys.
03:03They're going to have a lot of commercial appeal and value.
03:06She's gorgeous. She's elegant.
03:08She has a beautiful head, has her mother's looks,
03:10and I expect that she'll probably grow up to have her mother's substance.
03:15Her mother's an exceptional mare, and she's such an elegant mare.
03:20She's so beautiful, and she has class, just true class.
03:25It's very fulfilling and special to have Amorete,
03:28which is, you know, Mr. Toyaba acquired the farm back in 2013,
03:34so it was one of, you know, those first purchases.
03:37And to have her go on, be bred to Gunrunner,
03:41who we co-campaigned with Winchell Thoroughbreds,
03:44have that produce a Preakness winner is very special for the farm.
