Visit Kentucky Oaks Victress Secret Oath and Her Into Mischief Foal

Secret Oath won the Kentucky Oaks in 2022 and this year, the fan-favorite Grade I winner had her first foal. We visit Secret Oath and her Into Mischief filly at Spendthrift Farm.

00:00With this year's Kentucky Oaks now under wraps, we dropped by Spenthrough Farm to visit a past

00:07fan favorite Oaks winner in Secret Oath, who has her first foal on the ground this year by Into

00:12Mischief. We were very fortunate on February 11th to have Secret Oath have foaled a very nice

00:20bay filly. That's her first foal, a filly by Into Mischief. Everything was very uneventful,

00:26smooth foaling. She handled everything like the pro that she is and very happy with the foal. Nice

00:33medium-sized athletic foal, very correct, very similar to her. I'd say somewhat typical of a

00:39first foal where it's not as big, but it's a nice medium-sized foal, which is what you like to see.

00:44But she's filled out, matured really nicely. She's grown, she's developed, she has good bone.

00:51You know, I think there's a very strong likelihood that she'll stay right here,

00:56race for us, and remain in the broodmare band. But those are all decisions that we make

01:01as they develop into their yearling year. Secret Oath was to filly that was not hard to pick out.

01:08She's obviously a Kentucky Oaks winner, you know, extremely talented, big, beautiful mare. You know,

01:15there's just nothing not to like about her. And as a daughter of Arrogate, and a very sound filly,

01:21who did a lot of running and performed very well over a period of time.

01:26Secret Oath has been bred back to Into Mischief. We like the results here in the first year. And so

01:32we're going to go back and try that again. When you've got a stand like Into Mischief and a filly

01:38like Secret Oath, it's kind of a natural. The Cross has worked well before. That's the Cross that

01:44produced Gina Romantica, Maximus Mischief, and some other very nice horses. So we liked it from a

01:51Cross standpoint, but also too, it's, you know, when you have two horses of that caliber, it just makes

01:58all the sense in the world to breathe them and see what you get.
