G'day from the Bureau with your national weather forecast around the country for
00:04
Friday the 28th of November and we're going to continue this pattern of
00:09
widespread rain and thunderstorm activity across northern and eastern
00:12
Australia while high pressure continues to keep cooler and calmer conditions
00:16
through southern and western parts of the country thanks to this high pressure
00:21
ridge. Now Friday our focus will continue to be widespread rain and storms across
00:26
the eastern inland of Queensland and New South Wales and another round of
00:31
widespread shower and thunderstorm activity across our tropical north while
00:34
elsewhere across the south and west will remain dry. Now let's have a closer look
00:38
at a state-by-state focus. Firstly in Queensland for those along the coast
00:43
it's going to be quite warm with humid onshore winds keeping a few showers
00:46
through there but the focus really will be across inland parts of Queensland
00:51
where we're likely to see widespread showers and thunderstorms and some of
00:54
those could be severe extending from Mount Isa through the central west and
00:58
down into the Marana Warrego and that could bring heavy rainfall and damaging
01:02
winds. While in southeast Queensland another mild and humid day on the way
01:06
mostly a few showers here and there but mostly pretty isolated Brisbane looking
01:10
at 29 degrees with a possible afternoon shower. Now heading further down the
01:14
coast into New South Wales again that pattern of widespread shower and
01:18
thunderstorm activity will continue on and west of the ranges through New South
01:22
Wales where temperature is actually cooler inland compared to some of our
01:25
coastal locations. We could see showers and thunderstorms get to the central
01:29
coast of New South Wales between Newcastle and Wollongong later in the
01:33
day and we could see showers through Sydney with a top of 25 degrees but
01:37
further inland towards Canberra it could see severe thunderstorms tomorrow
01:41
afternoon top of 25 degrees there before those storms move in. Then heading down
01:46
into Victoria a much calmer and quieter day on the way compared to what we saw
01:51
earlier this week. Could see a few showers and thunderstorms move into
01:54
eastern and northeastern parts of the state with temperatures in the low 30s
01:58
there but fine and dry conditions through central and western parts of the
02:02
state getting into the low 30s in the northwest but only into the low 20s
02:06
through the south. Melbourne looking at a mild and humid 27 degrees with lots of
02:11
sunshine. Now dropping down into Tasmania pretty similar conditions there easterly
02:16
winds could continue to bring showers across eastern parts of the state but
02:20
generally dry and partly cloudy conditions through western and northern
02:23
parts with temperatures are just scraping in over the 20 degree mark.
02:27
Hobart itself just falling shy of 20 degrees looking at 19 degrees with a
02:31
possible shower or two. Now heading back up into South Australia again that high
02:36
pressure system will continue to dominate conditions through South
02:39
Australia so temperatures staying into the low 30s across northern parts and
02:42
into the low to mid 20s through southern parts of South Australia. Could see a few
02:47
showers and thunderstorms moving into eastern parts of the state late in the
02:50
day and also see a few light showers to our southern inland areas as well. Adelaide
02:55
looking at 25 degrees with a possible afternoon shower. Then heading further
02:59
west into WA, pretty dry hot day expected across much of the state.
03:05
Temperatures in the mid to high 30s across inland areas and up towards the
03:09
Pilbara while along the west coast also looking pretty hot as that west coast
03:13
trough shifts offshore bringing those easterly winds to our coastal locations.
03:17
That's why I've seen temperatures in the mid to high 30s along the coast on
03:20
Friday and Perth looking at a hot 37 degrees with lots of sunshine and those
03:24
gusty easterly winds. Then as we head up to our tropical north looking at
03:29
widespread showers and thunderstorms once again through parts of the NT and
03:33
Kimberley area. Could see heavy falls again where we do have a flood watch
03:37
current through parts of the Barkley area as this continuation of widespread
03:41
showers and thunderstorms continue. Some of them could be severe with heavy
03:44
rainfall as well particularly south of Katherine Darwin looking another warm
03:48
humid day with some afternoon showers and thunderstorms 33 degrees. So if you're
03:54
heading around the country the coming days make sure you stay up to date the
03:57
latest forecasts and warnings by our website app and social media.
