Hi, it's Christy at the Bureau with the National Weather Forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday the
00:04
15th of October.
00:06
Starting with our weather map, the main thing to notice is this big high-pressure system
00:09
out in the Tasman Sea.
00:11
That's directing warm and humid air over eastern parts of Australia, and that's combining with
00:16
some surface troughs to give a shower and thunderstorm outbreak over the southeastern
00:21
states tomorrow.
00:22
Now, some of these thunderstorms could be severe, producing heavy rainfall, damaging
00:26
winds and large hail.
00:28
However, over in the west we have a high-pressure system pushing in, and that's giving clearing
00:33
conditions through the southwest, while through the north the build-up continues with warm
00:37
and humid conditions and some showers and thunderstorms.
00:41
Looking at Queensland, some light showers along the east coast with onshore flow, and
00:45
possibly even some showers and thunderstorms creeping over the border in the late afternoon
00:49
or evening.
00:51
Warm conditions in the north and west, with low-intensity heatwave conditions through
00:54
the peninsula and high fire danger through southwestern districts.
00:59
Cooler in the east, Brisbane heading for a top of 26, partly cloudy with just a slight
01:03
chance of an afternoon or evening shower.
01:07
Down in New South Wales we see widespread showers across the state, and also possibly
01:11
thunderstorms most likely through the northeast, and also in western and central parts.
01:16
Now it's this inland area that's most likely to see the severe thunderstorms, producing
01:21
heavy rainfall or large hail, and maybe even some locally damaging wind gusts.
01:25
Storms are expected to be slow moving through this part, which increases the risk of flash
01:29
flooding with any heavy rainfall, so it's really important to stay up to date with any
01:33
warnings that are issued for these storms tomorrow.
01:36
Otherwise, a warm day inland, cooler near the coast, Sydney heading for a top of 20
01:40
degrees with a shower or two, Canberra 18 and also a shower or two.
01:45
Down in Victoria we do see showers and thunderstorms also extending from the northwest, particularly
01:50
during the afternoon and evening, and some of these thunderstorms over the northwest
01:54
could also be severe.
01:56
We're expecting a warm day across northern and western parts, but below average temperatures
02:01
through Gippsland.
02:02
Melbourne heading for a top of 26 degrees, with just the chance of a shower or two in
02:06
the late afternoon or evening, and maybe even a rumble of thunder through the outer northern
02:11
or northwestern suburbs.
02:13
Down in Tassie though, much more settled conditions, some morning frost patches inland, then plenty
02:18
of sunshine during the day, just some patchy clouds through the north and east.
02:22
Hobart heading for a top of 19.
02:25
South Australia has widespread but isolated showers and thunderstorms during the morning,
02:29
increasing in the afternoon but contracting to the east.
02:32
Again, some of these showers and thunderstorms could produce severe weather, so watch for
02:36
any warnings through eastern South Australia.
02:39
It's going to be another warm day with temperatures 6 to 12 degrees above average, high fire danger
02:45
through the northeast pastoral, and possibly some low intensity heatwave conditions in
02:49
the northwest.
02:51
A warm night in Adelaide 17, then up to 29 during the day with a shower or two, and possibly
02:56
the chance of a thunderstorm most likely in the morning.
03:00
Over in the west, a few showers about the southwest and southern coasts clearing during
03:04
the day, but remaining cloudy and cool through the southwest land division.
03:09
Warmer and sunnier though through the north and east, with high fire dangers through the
03:12
southern interior and also parts of the Pilbara coast.
03:16
In Perth there might be a morning shower or two, and then a mostly dry afternoon, top
03:20
of 22 degrees.
03:22
And through the north, the build up continues with warm and humid conditions, some showers
03:26
and thunderstorms particularly about the western top end and the northern Kimberley.
03:30
Temperatures mostly in the high 30s or around the 40 degree mark, up to 10 degrees above
03:35
average through parts of central Australia.
03:38
We have Darwin heading for a top of 33 degrees, with a shower or two and the chance of a thunderstorm.
03:43
Alice Springs a top of 38.
03:46
And that's it for our weather update.
03:47
Make sure you stay up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings for your location on
03:50
the Bureau's website or our app, and we'll see you again tomorrow.
