Hello Miriam at the Bureau with your national weather forecast for tomorrow Friday the 25th
00:05
of April and we'll take a quick look ahead at the weekend as well as tomorrow is the Anzac Day
00:09
public holiday. Let's start by taking a look at tomorrow's weather map and we can see that the
00:14
main weather feature of interest is this low pressure system moving towards South Australia
00:19
pushing low pressure troughs into the southeast of the country. Now this is going to generate a
00:24
cool and gusty change with plenty of showers and thunderstorms for southeastern Australia over the
00:30
long weekend. We can see that for tomorrow for Friday we have rain areas developing through
00:35
Victoria and New South Wales in particular. In the west it's a much more settled story as a ridge of
00:41
high pressure pushes across the west coast bringing cool but generally clear conditions. Fairly settled
00:47
across the north as well apart from a few isolated showers and storms across our tropics. Let's take
00:52
a state-by-state look at tomorrow's forecast now starting with Queensland. For Queensland tomorrow
00:58
showers and coastal thunderstorms across the southeast of the state with the risk of moderate to locally
01:03
heavy falls particularly during the morning about the coastal areas. Those are likely to ease back
01:08
during the day but it is likely to remain fairly showery. Drier weather across the central coast and those
01:14
western and inland areas although we do have a few isolated showers and storms continuing across the
01:19
Cape York Peninsula. For Brisbane tomorrow we're looking at a showery day and a top of 25 degrees.
01:24
In New South Wales tomorrow a few morning fogs in the east and then some coastal showers continuing
01:29
along the east coast with generally lower rainfall totals than what we've seen over the past few days.
01:34
The exception may be the northeast where those showers are likely to remain a little bit more
01:39
persistent with the risk of some coastal thunderstorms continuing. Moderate to locally heavy falls will be
01:45
once again possible. Later in the day we're going to see cloud building across those western parts of
01:50
the state. Rain and showers with the chance of thunderstorms building as well particularly
01:55
impacting the southwest. Severe storms may bring some locally heavy falls leading to flash flooding
02:00
through the afternoon and evening in particular. For Sydney tomorrow we're looking at a shower or two
02:05
on the forecast and a top of 25 degrees. Down in Canberra partly cloudy and a top of 24 degrees.
02:13
A cloudy day across Victoria tomorrow with showers increasing mostly across those western central
02:18
districts a little bit more isolated through the east. Now showers may tend to rain areas with embedded
02:24
thunderstorms particularly across those western and northern parts of the state through the course of
02:29
tomorrow and we may actually see some severe thunderstorms bringing heavy falls leading to flash flooding.
02:34
So be on the lookout for severe thunderstorm warnings through the course of tomorrow.
02:38
Melbourne can expect showers increasing with a top of 24 degrees.
02:44
Down in Tasmania a partly cloudy day with a few isolated showers moving through more scattered
02:49
through the north and across the southwest of the state. Hobart is expecting a shower or two
02:54
developing and a top of 20 degrees. Across South Australia tomorrow mostly cloudy conditions
03:00
particularly through the south with isolated showers continuing. The rainfall totals will be on the
03:05
lower side of things for South Australia even through those agricultural areas in the east.
03:11
Cloud and showers will start to clear up and ease back from the west later in the day. Adelaide is
03:16
looking at a mostly cloudy day tomorrow and a top of 25 degrees. Across Western Australia tomorrow we are
03:24
expecting some coastal showers along the south coast and some morning fogs through the southwest. Then a cool
03:30
cloudy day continuing for those southern parts of the state. Perth can expect a mostly sunny top of 22
03:36
degrees. It will be milder and sunnier the further north we go across Western Australia. For the Northern
03:42
Territory tomorrow we are expecting temperatures generally within a couple of degrees of the average
03:47
but sunny and dry weather continuing for the most part particularly through those southern and central
03:51
parts of the territory. A few showers and storms continuing mostly about the eastern parts of the top
03:57
end and Darwin is heading for a mostly dry day atop of 33 degrees. Taking a quick look at our weekend
04:04
weather now. For Saturday we're expecting to see rain continuing mostly across New South Wales with the
04:11
risk of heavy falls through parts of central New South Wales and along the east coast of New South Wales.
04:17
Patchier showers will push in behind these systems for parts of South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania and it
04:24
will become drier the further north and west we go. So particularly for parts of inland Queensland,
04:29
Central Australia and Western Australia we're looking at a mostly dry and settled Saturday. A few
04:35
showers and thunderstorms continuing in the tropics. For Sunday we're likely to see the wet weather
04:40
continuing across the east coast of New South Wales in particular with that risk of heavy falls
04:45
persisting right through to the end of the weekend. A few isolated showers continuing in the south and some
04:50
cooler weather on the way for that end of the weekend. Again we are expecting mostly dry and sunny weather
04:56
for remaining parts of Australia with the exception of a few more showers and storms in the far north.
