00:00
Good morning to all of us, this is the update on the weather disturbance we are monitoring, Tropical Storm Leon.
00:10
The storm Leon still maintained its strength while the ocean is still moving, the coast of Luzon.
00:16
And last but not least, 1,195 kilometers east of Central Luzon, the strength of the wind is still strong, 65 kilometers per hour,
00:25
close to the center, and the wind is blowing at 80 kilometers per hour.
00:30
It is moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, and at the moment, it still has no direct effect on any part of our country.
00:39
Meanwhile, the former storm Christine that we are monitoring is already outside our monitoring region,
00:46
and if it changes track or returns to our area of responsibility,
00:53
we will again monitor and update on this weather disturbance.
00:58
Meanwhile, the southwesterly wind flow that was triggered by the storm Christine,
01:05
and also is currently being influenced by the storm Leon,
01:09
is affecting and has a high chance of rain here in the northern part of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
01:18
So be careful for our countrymen there in the possibility of flooding and landslides.
01:26
And according to our latest forecast track analysis of the storm Leon,
01:30
it will continue to move eastward until tomorrow early morning,
01:35
before it moves west-northwestward by tomorrow until Tuesday early morning.
01:42
And then we see that it will start to recurve and move north-westward to north-northwestward
01:50
throughout the forecast period, and it is possible for it to landfall here in the area of Ryukyu Islands by Friday early morning.
01:59
And the center of the storm Leon will remain far from our land or any part of our land.
02:07
But we will notice here in our forecast track that by Tuesday onwards,
02:12
it will be closer to the east of the extreme northern Luzon,
02:17
where by this time, the outer rain bands of the storm Leon is possible to reach
02:23
and there will be strong winds and also rains here in the area of the extreme northern Luzon,
02:29
even in some parts of the northern Luzon in the following days.
02:34
And also, we did not remove the possibility that in the following days,
02:40
the movement of the storm Leon will be more volatile.
02:44
And if its movement becomes more volatile,
02:48
the area that will be affected by its outer rain bands will be larger.
02:53
So we are continuously monitoring and continuing to monitor the updates that will be released by Pag-Asa.
03:00
Meanwhile, we also see that the storm Leon will intensify into a severe tropical storm by tomorrow early morning.
03:09
And we also see the possibility that it will have a period of rapid intensification by tomorrow until Wednesday,
03:18
where it is possible to reach the typhoon category by Monday evening or Tuesday early morning.
03:26
At this time, we do not have a high wind signal in any part of our country,
03:32
but while the storm Leon is moving in the ocean,
03:37
it is possible for us to have a high wind signal, number one, here in the portions of Cagayan Valley,
03:43
even in the northeastern portion of the Bicol region later tonight.
03:48
And what we see as the highest wind signal that we can have during the storm Leon inside the park is wind signal number two.
04:00
And aside from this, today, strong winds can pass through this area of Catanduanes,
04:08
Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.
04:12
And by tomorrow and by Tuesday, a larger area of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
04:19
will experience strong winds that will pass through the storm Leon.
04:25
Meanwhile, for strong rains, in our latest analysis,
04:30
we did not see or unlikely that the storm Leon will pass through strong rains in any part of our country.
04:38
Like what we mentioned earlier,
04:40
if the track or the movement of the storm Leon gets closer,
04:47
and also if it gets closer by Tuesday onwards here in the east of the extreme northern Luzon,
04:53
it is the outer rainbans that will cause rain in the area of the extreme northern Luzon,
05:00
even in some parts of the northern Luzon.
05:03
And also, the storm Leon continues to influence the southwesterly wind flow
05:09
where this southwesterly wind flow is the one that causes rain in the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
05:18
today and in the coming days.
05:23
Meanwhile, for the location of our country's coastal areas,
05:27
when the storm Leon gets closer here in our Philippine landmass,
05:32
we can see that it will reach up to the coastal areas in the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon,
05:40
even in the eastern seaboard of Visayas.
05:43
At the moment, we do not have a high-level gale warning,
05:46
but the location of our coastal areas here in the western seaboard of Luzon is still high.
05:52
So, be careful for our countrymen.
05:58
And for the weather forecast for this Sunday,
06:02
in the entire Luzon, including Metro Manila,
06:05
aside from the areas of Occidental Mindoro and Palawan,
06:09
we will experience a part of cloudy to cloudy skies today.
06:13
We will only experience isolated rains and localized thunderstorms.
06:20
Our regional offices also issue thunderstorm advisories or forecasts about these rains.
06:27
The temperature in Metro Manila is from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius.
06:33
Meanwhile, in the areas of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
06:37
we will experience a high chance of rains here in Palawan, Occidental Mindoro,
06:44
in the western Visayas, Negros Island region,
06:47
in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Barb,
06:50
as well as the southwesterly wind flow that is influenced by the León storm.
06:56
So, be careful for our countrymen in the possibility of floods and landslides.
07:02
Meanwhile, in the lower parts of Visayas and Mindanao,
07:06
we will only experience isolated rains and localized thunderstorms.
07:13
The temperature in Cebu is from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius,
07:17
while in Davao, it is 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.
07:23
We will continue to provide updates on the forecast.
