Hello, welcome to the first day of meteorological autumn.
00:04
Having said that, there's still plenty of summer-esque sunshine
00:07
to be had out there for most places today.
00:09
It's a fine Thursday, but the weather is on the change.
00:12
Weather front's approaching from the south
00:14
and from the northwest.
00:16
Not with us yet, however.
00:17
There are just one or two showers already creeping up
00:20
across parts of southern England and a few more today
00:22
across northeast England.
00:24
Pretty well scattered there.
00:25
I say most places will stay dry.
00:27
Spells of sunshine for north Wales, northwest England.
00:29
Much of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
00:32
A touch warmer here compared to yesterday.
00:34
Still a bit of an easterly breeze
00:35
along these easternmost coasts of England.
00:38
And a bit more cloud across the south.
00:40
Any sunshine here, fairly hazy.
00:42
And as I said, there are one or two scattered showers
00:45
around as well.
00:46
Still pretty warm here, though.
00:47
Temperatures into the mid-20s.
00:49
Further north, it's a touch warmer than yesterday.
00:51
20 Celsius fairly widely across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:55
Through this evening and overnight,
00:56
we'll start to see a few more of those showers creeping up
00:59
over the channel into southeast England initially,
01:02
but some for southwest England, too,
01:03
and across the Channel Isles.
01:04
By morning, maybe a few across the Midlands.
01:07
Also, some mist and fog patches will form again,
01:09
particularly across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
01:12
and northern England.
01:13
And it will be quite a chilly night once more
01:15
in northern Scotland, whereas in the south, a fairly warm one.
01:18
The temperature staying in the mid-teens.
01:20
So quite a contrast with some parts of northern Scotland
01:22
dipping well down into single figures,
01:24
although not quite as cold as last night
01:27
when we did see a touch of frost.
01:29
On to Friday's details, and still for many, dry and bright.
01:33
But I think we'll see quite a lot more cloud generally
01:36
across England and Wales, and more showers tomorrow
01:38
drifting over the Midlands, parts of East Wales,
01:41
maybe one or two for northern England.
01:43
At the same time, weather front approaching from the northwest
01:45
will increase the cloud for Northern Ireland
01:47
and the west coast of Scotland, with some heavy rain likely
01:50
here by the end of the day.
01:52
The showers in the south could again be quite heavy.
01:54
Hit and miss affairs, not everywhere seeing them,
01:56
but some thunderstorms are possible,
01:59
particularly across parts of the West Country, South Wales
02:01
during the afternoon.
02:02
Again, quite warm and humid here,
02:04
particularly with sunny spells over eastern England, 25,
02:06
maybe 27 in the capital.
02:08
Generally, we're looking at high teens or low 20s.
02:12
As I say, quite a warm, humid feel though still
02:14
across the south, with the risk of these heavy, thundery
02:17
showers drifting northwards.
02:19
And more rain during Friday evening
02:22
coming into the northwest.
02:23
It's all kind of closing in, and that all
02:26
adds up to a fairly mixed picture
02:28
through the weekend, thanks to low pressure.
02:30
This is one weather front circulating around,
02:33
and it could grind to a halt on Saturday
02:35
over parts of Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland.
02:37
So we do have a Met Office yellow rain warning
02:41
in place for that.
02:43
And this area of low pressure kind of
02:45
continues to mill around through the weekend
02:47
and probably beyond, the ice bar squeezing together as well.
02:51
So for some quite windy this weekend,
02:53
I think we'll all see some rain as well.
