00:00Hi friends. Today we will learn what our prefix is. So let's start. Prefix. A group of letters

00:11that is appended at the beginning of some word and changes the meaning of that word.

00:19Un-pre-for-super-free. Let's have a look at some examples of prefixes. Stitched-unstitched.

00:35So here we have a prefix un- that has changed the meaning of stitched. Happy-unhappy. Faithful-unfaithful.

00:49Believable-unbelievable. Install-uninstall. So appending un- before a word changed its

01:01meaning and added not to its meaning. Unable means not able. Unfaithful means not faithful.

01:14Unhappy means not happy. Now let's see the usage of another prefix. Happy-super-happy. Super has

01:28changed the meaning of happy to extremely happy. Hit-super-hit. Flop-super-flop. Excited-super

01:42excited. Power-superpower. So adding super changes the meaning of a word by adding too

01:52much to it. So excited becomes too much excited by adding super to it. Now let's have some more

02:04examples of over. Burden-overburden. Confidence-overconfidence. Possessive-overpossessive.

02:30means extra burden or more than required burden. Confidence-overconfidence. Overconfidence is more

02:41than required confidence. Now here we have another prefix. Pre-wedding. Pre-wedding. Pre-

02:51changes the meaning of the word wedding. Pre-wedding means before marriage. His wedding

03:00is on the 5th of January and his pre-wedding photo shoot is on the 1st of January. Monsoon

03:10is a word. Now we append pre before it so it becomes pre-monsoon. Both the words have different

03:21meaning altogether. These are pre-monsoon showers. Here we have another example. Heated. Pre-heated.

03:32Here the meaning of pre is different. Here pre means already. Pre-heated means already heated.

03:43For example, bake the cake in a preheated oven. That is, bake the cake in an already heated oven.

03:53Here we have our next examples. Rearranged. It means already arranged. The birthday party

04:04was pre-arranged. It means already arranged. So the prefix changes the meaning of the word

04:13and it is not an individual word. Let's have some more examples. Cooked. Uncooked. Here both

04:25the words have different meanings. Uncooked has a prefix un- and it means not cooked. We

04:36have cooked vegetables as well as uncooked vegetables as salads. Here un- made the

04:45meaning of cooked opposite. Uncooked means not cooked. Similarly, polished, unpolished.

04:55Polished pulses seem attractive but unpolished pulses are healthier for us. So unpolished means

05:06not polished. Bearable, unbearable. This is the month of October. This much temperature is

05:16bearable but temperature in the month of December is unbearable as it's too cold. Now here we have

05:25a prefix re- which means again. Let's think of some words that begin with re- rethink, reoccur,

05:36remake, redo, rewind, relocate. Now we have a prefix non- which means not or without. Now

05:50let's think of some words that begin with non- nonsense, non-adult, non-vegetarian,

05:59non-citizen, non-combustible, non-compatible. There can be many such examples. Now here we

06:12have a prefix mis- means bad or wrong. Now let's think of some words that begin with mis- mislead,

06:22misuse, misinterpret, misconception, misunderstand and many more such words can be there. So friends
