Storm threat in the Midwest to ramp up this Friday and Saturday

Storms may not have been as bad as they could have been on Thursday, but the risk for destructive weather will be higher in the days to come.

00:00So hail has been a big threat,

00:02but we can't rule out more in

00:03the potential of tornadic activity.

00:05There are turning to watchboxes

00:06in place from eastern Colorado

00:08into western Kansas,

00:09extending into the northern Texas panhandle,

00:10and that is where we've been highlighting

00:12a lot of that severe weather risk.

00:14In fact, it'll even push a little bit

00:16farther east as we head through the night,

00:18so you still want to stay weather aware.

00:20It's a moderate risk tonight with

00:22the potential for large hail,

00:23damaging winds and some isolated tornadoes.

00:25We see the storm system get going.

00:27It becomes a pretty wet time.

00:29Heading into tomorrow morning showers,

00:30thunderstorms possible into Minnesota

00:32through Iowa and portions of Missouri.

00:33Even Dallas could be waking up to

00:36thunderstorms to start off their morning

00:37drive not as likely to be severe,

00:40but we will have more wet weather potential,

00:42which could lead to more potential

00:44for flooding, especially across

00:45Missouri after we had the rain today.

00:47Another round of it could be a bit of a

00:50problem and we're not finished then.

00:52Because Friday, look what happens.

00:54A storm system off to the Northeast

00:56is on move and it does bring

00:58that risk for severe weather,

00:59especially across southwestern

01:00Iowa into northwestern Missouri.

01:02We have that high risk for severe weather,

01:04so we are looking at the potential

01:07for damaging winds, large hail,

01:08and tornadoes,

01:09and we're not finished yet.

01:11That's Friday's risk Saturday.

01:12Storm system number one moves.

01:14Storm system number two comes in out

01:16of Colorado and into western Kansas,

01:18so we have some severe thunderstorms

01:20from number one with hail to the north.

01:22To the South, though,

01:24there's that potential for a

01:25tornadic risk, but we're not finished.

01:27Risk as we go through Saturday

01:29afternoon and Saturday night.
