A risk for severe storms is coming back to part of the Midwest this Thursday.
Transcript
00:00We're looking at Gaylord, Michigan now, and the snow is coming down on Mr. Easter Bunny there.
00:06By the way, I did also check the power outages in Michigan at this point.
00:10We're down to about 5,600 without power, so slowly but surely making some progress there.
00:16And while what you're seeing there is not helpful for power crews being able to restore power,
00:21the overall setup for tomorrow, that is helpful.
00:24We are staying warm. We are staying dry. We are staying spring-like.
00:27There are some of us, though, that are going to have to watch for some thunderstorms,
00:30some on more of the severe side, some damaging wind gusts possible, some hail, maybe some heavy downpours.
00:36Not necessarily an all-day kind of washout situation,
00:39but you don't want to be outside when the severe thunderstorm does roll through.
00:44Thursday, things become more widespread, though.
00:46A lot more of us in that dark green for thunderstorms, and we do have a severe threat once again.
00:51Here's a look at the area overall that we are concerned about,
00:54and we do have that level 2 out of 4 moderate risk area.
00:58We added this in specifically because of the risk of large hail.
01:02This is mostly a damaging wind event, but that large hail, I mean, that can do some damage.
01:07Any hail can do some damage, but especially once it gets, you know,
01:10up to some of the larger hail sizes that we see,
01:14you definitely don't want to be out and about during that.
01:16We'll take a look at future radar and exactly how all of this plays out.
01:19We see a couple rounds of rain moving through the Kansas City area.
01:21That's our Wednesday severe threat.
01:24And then we have the bigger storm moving through Wednesday overnight into Thursday.
01:31Here's how all of that plays out.
01:32You can see this also is not a widespread kind of washout situation,
01:35but we do have some of those heavier downpours.
01:38And again, you don't want to be out and about during those severe thunderstorms.
01:41We'll see you next time.
