Wales headlines 28 September: Vote of no confidence against minister fails

A vote of no confidence against the deputy climate change minister in the Senedd failed on Wednesday night, after no parties besides the Tories decided to back it. The vote was in relation to Lee Waters’ 20mph speed limit change, which has caused controversy since it came into force last week.

Newport city council leader has rejected calls to review the city’s 20mph speed limit changes. Jane Mudd said the Welsh government policy would increase road safety, while opposition leader Matthew Evans called the changes a fiasco, and have confused drivers around the city.

Roughly 1200 items are currently missing from the national library of Wales, according to a recent freedom of information request from BBC Wales. The missing items include works from Dylan Thomas and Ernest Hemmingway, as well as some editions of the first newspaper published in Wales, Seren Gomer.
