Birmingham headlines 3 November: Number of children in need increases by 12%
There were more than 9,500 children in need in Birmingham this year - up 12% from the year before. The children's society said the pandemic took a significant toll on children's wellbeing. The department of education said they will be strengthening links with social to help vulnerable children.

West Midlands Police are appealing for information after a man died in a hit and run collision in Bordeseley Green. The man in his 40s died after a white hatchback-type vehicle struck the man. Emergency services were unable to save his life despite best efforts.

Birmingham's iconic Christmas Market has returned to the city. The popular annual event sees a range of stalls with an array of food, drinks and gifts on offer. Live music will be played throughout the Christmas period. The market usually attracts up to 5 million visitors to the city.
