Proposals to increase faster and more frequent trains across the Midlands have been sent to the government as part of a package of rail travel improvements. The plan proposes to bring South West Trains and Welsh Trains into Moor Street, thereby increasing capacity at New Street.

A woman, raped by a man who approached her in a Birmingham pub, has shared her story. The woman was out with friends in November 2019 where her attacker is believed to have approached her. Steven Walker was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court for nine years six months for three counts of rape.

The Trussell Trust distributed a record number of food parcels for children across the UK in the six months to September, including over 10,000 in Birmingham - more than double that of five years ago. In Birmingham, over 75,000 under-16s were living in absolute poverty last year.
