A teenager has been jailed for killing a man at a house party in Digbeth last June. Gurveer Bhandal was sentenced to 13 years for fatally stabbing 20-year-old Ashley Day, a talented young footballer who had just been accepted onto a degree course.

Birmingham City Council has set out five key strategies to transform its roads and tackle the "devastating" number of fatal collisions. It includes promoting less car use, 20 mile per hourn speed limits, prioritising residents health, the safety of vehicles and post-crash care.

Birmingham Children's Hospital has recorded its highest number of measles cases in children in decades. Figures show that there have been more than 50 children in need of hospital treatment over December. Measles usually starts with cold-like symptoms, followed by a rash a few days later.
