Plans to overhaul transport in Birmingham have been announced amid a bid to cut traffic pollution. The scheme includes making the city centre largely traffic free and reducing the use of private cars. The plans are part of the council's strategy to reach net zero by 2030.

A banned driver who left a man dead and his wife seriously injured as they crossed a road has been jailed for 15 years. Grant Meredith-Trafford from Brierley Hill was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday. CCTV footage showed that his car was travelling between 64 and 68mph prior the collision.

West Midlands Police continue their appeal for witnesses after a man was found fatally stabbed in Kings Heath in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Police cordons were put in place while police carry out investigations.
