Tributes have been paid to father-of-two PC Andy Boardman, who died suddenly while on duty this week. He was taken ill while working in Shropshire on Tuesday afternoon. He joined West Mercia Police in 2015, having started his policing career in 2007 with West Midlands Police.
A man has been arrested and charged after a woman was assaulted in Birmingham city centre. The 28-year-old woman was by the Bullring on 29 March when a man injected a syringe into her leg. Marwan Ahmmed, of Hagley Road, Birmingham, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court for an initial hearing on Saturday charged with wounding with intent.
