The teenage boy who died after being stabbed in Victoria Square has been named by police who say the case is not gang-related. Officers believe Muhammad Hassam Ali who was murdered in broad daylight on Saturday, was 'a tragic case of mistaken identity'.

Tributes have been paid to a 96-year-old former soap actor who was killed after being hit by a van this week. Charmian Abrahams was struck on Lordswood Road in Harborne just before midday on Monday. Police are conducting enquiries and appealing for further witnesses.

Thousands attended a pro-Palestine demonstration in Birmingham on Saturday. Campaigners with Birmingham Stop the War Coalition set off from Sparkhill Park at noon before eventually reaching St Martin's Square. At least 40 other demonstrations took place across the country.
