Birmingham headlines 8 August: Birmingham knifeman jailed after being caught while not paying train fare
First - A Birmingham man carrying a knife has been jailed after attempting to dodge paying for his train fare. British Transport Police officers discovered Tamiah Reece was wanted for assault and was carrying a bladed weapon after he pushed through ticket barriers at Manchester Piccadilly station to board a train in December last year. Reese has had 6 months added to an existing 4 year jail sentence.

Next - More speed cameras will be installed on Birmingham's roads following a series of demonstrations from the public after young children were killed and seriously injured. The coordinated crackdown will also involve more round the clock enforcement operations from the police and a high-profile billboard campaign.
