South Korea held a celebration to mark the 59th anniversary of a 1960 pro-democracy demonstration.
On March 15th, 1960,... protestors took to the streets,... against the authoritarian regime of then President Rhee Syng-man,... after a rigged re-election of the president.
Vote counts were manipulated to extend his term.... and he had ruled the country since he became the first president in 1948.
A nationwide protest later took place in April forcing him to step down.
Friday's event was attended by Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon as well as political parties' leaders.
