N. Korea commemorates 7th anniversary of late leader Kim Jong-il’s death
  • 5 years ago
Former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il died seven years ago today.
As you might expect, North Korean state media has been paying tribute to him.
A number ran stories on Sunday to rally a commemorative mood ahead of the anniversary, highlighting Kim Jong-il's economic achievements, rather than his military achievements.
The regime's state-run daily, the Rodong Sinmun, ran an editorial on Kim Jong-il's life and urged a continued focus on the regime's economic development under the current leader Kim Jong-un.
