To commemorate the 68th anniversary of the start of the Korean War today,… South Korea's Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs held a special ceremony this morning here in Seoul.
Thousands gathered to show their appreciation for the veterans who defended the Republic of Korea during the conflict.
Some one-thousand South Korean veterans..... and around one-hundred veterans from other allied nations joined the event.
They watched musical and theatrical performances about the Korean War.
And Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon called for lasting peace and prosperity for the two Koreas.

"War-torn families of the two Koreas will meet in August at North Korea's Mount Kumgang. Like this movement, the South Korean government will continue pressing for the establishment of peace on the Korean peninsula."

He also said that seeking peace and prosperity is one way to repay the veterans for their sacrifices.
