South Korea is holding a celebration to mark the 59th anniversary of a 1960 pro-democracy demonstration.
On March 15th, in 1960,... protestors took to the streets,... against the authoritarian regime of then President Rhee Syng-nam,... after a rigged re-election of the president.
Vote counts were manipulated to extend Rhee's term.
Rhee had ruled the country since he became the country's first president in 1948.
A nationwide protest later took place in April forcing him to step down.
Some 15-hundred people are expected to attend Friday's event,... including Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon and leaders of political parties.
