Migrants: 2,500 expected in Germany on Monday

An estimated 2,500 migrants are expected to arrive in Germany on Monday.

20,000 travelled in by train from Austria over the weekend.

The influx comes after Vienna and Berlin agreed to waive rules requiring refugees to register an asylum claim in the first EU country they reach.

Five people have been injured after fire broke out at an asylum shelter in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Police say 80 people were in the building in the town of Rottenburg.

“The fire service says the fire began inside the building, so hopefully it was not a deliberate attack,” said Rottenburg Mayor Stephan Neher.

The situation in Hungary

On Hungary’s border with Serbia, several hundred migrants are sleeping in the open.

Nearby transit camps are reportedly full.
