00:00Mamma mia!
00:02Uncertainty surrounds Budapest's upcoming Pride March set to take place on Saturday,
00:07despite a police ban imposed by Hungary's government.
00:11The city's liberal mayor vowed to go ahead with the march.
00:14He said that since it's organized at a municipal level,
00:18the event can be categorized as what he says is perfectly legal.
00:22The Hungarian parliament took place on the judicial legislation,
00:26which is based on the judicial legislation of Pride.
00:31However, the government is a national government,
00:35which does not belong to this legislation,
00:37and the government will call the Budapest's other legislation.
00:43Therefore, this is completely legal.
00:45Tens of thousands of people and more than 500 foreign diplomats,
00:49MEPs and other politicians are expected to attend the Pride event.
00:54Many have raised concerns over the response by Hungarian authorities.
00:58Speaking on the sidelines of the EU's summit,
01:01Prime Minister Viktor Orban addressed the planned upcoming march.
01:04If someone is doing this,
01:06then there is a civil law enforcement system,
01:08which is important for them.
01:10But in a civilized country, we don't hate each other.
01:12This is a country that has never been a civil war.
01:14It's about 56 years.
01:16So, if we didn't agree with each other,
01:19we wouldn't be afraid of each other.
01:20This is not part of the Hungarian government.
01:26Under recent amendments to the law,
01:28organizers of unlawful rallies face up to one year in prison,
01:32and participants could receive a heavy fine.
01:35The co-chairman of the Helsinki committee says that the risk of a fine in this case
01:42is a risk that anyone who wants to stand up for fundamental rights has to take.
01:47The march will take place as continued.
02:02Meanwhile, the police have allowed a counter demonstration by the far right,
02:06our homeland, to cross the planned route of the Budapest Pride.
