00:01Paul, an entertaining 2-2 draw against the National League South Dorking to wrap up pre-season and entertaining games.

00:07Thoughts on that?

00:08Yeah Paul, real entertaining game.

00:11I think two good sides and you could see both attacking qualities on the show.

00:16It was a test that we needed.

00:18I thought when we put pre-season down it looked tough on paper, but the boys had breezed it.

00:23We needed that test today and I thought we were good, especially after Paul.

00:28Obviously pre-season isn't about results, but you've sort of breezed.

00:32You've won 6 out of 6 in convincing style before today, but to get another draw today against a team in the league above

00:39and they really gave you that test today going into the league, that must obviously be pleasing to build that momentum.

00:44Yeah it was. We knew they'd dominate the ball for large periods of it and it was about how we could counter them.

00:51I thought both goals today for us were perfect examples of that.

00:56It was a pleasing day because we really needed that game.

01:01Yeah, that first goal Ogo sort of gets it on half way doesn't he?

01:05He drives all the way forward into the box and then Bobby Joe really good composure there to go around the keeper

01:09and knock it in against his old club.

01:11Yeah I thought their goal as well. The first three goals were on the counter.

01:16I think ours was a corner and they broke and they broke at such speed, you know, it was a good goal.

01:21And then we done the same to them on their corner.

01:23And then again for the second goal, great save from Zaki or a double save from Zaki.

01:29And within maybe seven seconds we're 2-1 up.

01:32Yeah, I mean it's a sort of double save and as you say, literally straight up the pitch weren't you?

01:36You know, Bobby Joe puts it out wide and then I'll go to Sam, he finishes it and it was so quick straight up the pitch.

01:41Yeah, it was so quick and slick and yeah that's what we've been impressive with in pre-season.

01:45How quick we go forward and take our chances and yeah it was good today.

01:51Yeah and I guess obviously if you're, you know, dominating play against teams and when you will have space

01:57and you need to sort of utilise it quickly, that is obviously key isn't it?

02:00You know, to use that when that space opens up.

02:03It is yeah, especially, you know, with what we had to chase today.

02:06You know, them being full-time and they had some excellent players here on the show.

02:10I thought the lad in midfield Carter was outstanding.

02:13And yeah, it's difficult, you know, you don't get much thinking time.

02:17And yeah, the way we picked the passes out for the goals was excellent.

02:211-1 at half time, it had been sort of a good first half and sort of message going into the second half?

02:26Yeah, we knew they had changed shape to a three and, you know, they allowed it to do what they did in the first half

02:31and try and get overload and we was happy for them to get the overload because we knew the course was coming.

02:36But it was just about positioning ourselves, you know, ready to counter.

02:39And it seemed a long second half.

02:42You know, we only had the four subs and they made eight or nine changes.

02:46But yeah, it was competitive and yeah, both teams sort of wanted to win it.

02:51And yeah, it was a perfect 10-3 season.

02:54Yeah, and as I say, it's been, you know, great pre-season results-wise, isn't it?

02:57You know, six wins in the draw, unbeaten, obviously beat a couple of high-ranked teams as well, drawn today.

03:02And sort of feeling like the partnerships throughout the team and the whole team sort of looking in a good shape now?

03:07Yeah, real good shape. I think as soon as we come back in, I thought, you know, everyone hit the ground running.

03:11The new signings have all been excellent.

03:13And then with them hitting the ground running and being excellent, the rest of the squad's been excellent.

03:18You know, we've had no one that's sort of been left behind or looking, thinking they've had a poor pre-season.

03:24They've given me some real tough headaches over the next week.

03:27And as you like to do, you've sort of got your business done early and it means, you know, they've sort of come in, hit the ground running,

03:32had a full pre-season together, haven't they? Which is obviously really beneficial, isn't it, looking ahead to the league?

03:37It is big, it is big and it is important that we catch, you know, a big core of what we did last year, achievements.

03:44And the ones coming in obviously had to be better than, you know, what we had and some of them better than the level that they're playing at.

03:51And, you know, they've taken to it and, yeah, we're really happy.

03:55Obviously now a full week sort of to lead up to the opening league game.

03:58How's it sort of looking? A couple of training days and sort of lead up?

04:00Yeah, we're in Tuesday. We've got testing on Tuesday to see where the boys are at.

04:04I'm sure they're going to surprise everything they've done.

04:08And then we're out for a meal on Tuesday night and then, yeah, we'll have a session Thursday,

04:13go over set pieces and stuff and, you know, another tough training session, ready for Saturday and Wednesday.

04:19Obviously it's going to be sort of, you know, obviously you've already had a lot of momentum stays at the club,

04:22but for the club itself, you know, first ever game at Step 3, home game against Hungerford,

04:27obviously one to sort of relish and look forward to.

04:29Yeah, I think, you know, we can't wait now. We want to get back here Saturday.

04:33Hopefully, you know, some holidays, hopefully, you know, the town can turn out and get in here early

04:39and start building an atmosphere and, yeah, when we kick on with three points and hopefully another successful season.

04:45Yeah, so obviously you've had those back to back, you've got that momentum and obviously you're targeting,

04:48obviously, you know, being strong this year and looking to challenge as well as you can.

04:53Yeah, you know, I think within the boys, you know, I think realistically top ten is a great season.

04:59What we want to achieve, you know, we want to be at the top and compete at the top.

05:03That's the pressure we put on ourselves and we've always been that way.

05:06So, you know, we aim to do that. It's going to be tough. It's a strong league,

05:10but I think we'll also take priority in a cup this year, which we haven't done.

05:13Yeah, so as you say, yeah, obviously, step up in the league, but obviously,

05:16and then obviously, look to go strong in the cups as well then.

05:18Yeah, I think, you know, we'll pick a cup out and, you know, look to try and see if we can get a big game,

05:23whether it's the FA Cup or the FA Trophy, you know, if we can get a big game away or a big game down there.

05:27Then, yeah, I think that's a goal as well.
