00:00
Harry, that was a really fitting way tonight, 6-0 against Reynolds Lane to steal back-to-back
00:06
promotions, back-to-back titles, what a way to do it.
00:10
Nuts. Two years ago, to think that we'd be going into Step 3 would have been completely
00:17
unfathomable. The boys have left everything out on the pitch, all season, and last season,
00:22
I don't want to... Last season was so special, and to be able to recreate something as special
00:29
12 months later, and it is 367 days since we won the title in Jersey last year. Paul
00:35
Johnston and Jimmy Hibbert have done an incredible job, put together an amazing squad, a formidable
00:39
squad, a scary squad for everyone in this league, and we have obliterated this league.
00:44
We're on 90 points, the next best is 69, 21 points clear in March, and what can I say
00:50
really other than the superlatives, there aren't enough to talk about how amazing this
00:55
squad and this club is with everyone behind the scenes, and what an atmosphere it was
00:58
this evening. A party atmosphere once we scored our second or third goal, and that
01:02
second or third goal went in at Rains Park. They were queuing up in front of goal, weren't
01:08
they, to get their clock-end moment, and I'm delighted for every single one of them.
01:12
It was raining goals in that second half, in that clock-end, wasn't it? Five in the
01:15
second half there. Absolutely. And all the records last season, and you'd have known
01:19
it would have been a step up this year, and you just delivered and really stepped up to
01:23
the mark. Yeah, look, when we talked in the summer, we knew it would be a step up, we
01:26
knew the goal would be to compete, be up there. We didn't think we were going to win the league,
01:29
we didn't think we were going to blitz it, that's for sure, and we put everything in
01:33
place in order to make sure that we could be competitive. I have to say the league is
01:38
slightly disappointing in one hand, but it also proves how deep it is, because that playoff
01:42
picture is eight teams deep, and I'm staggered that we're 21 points clear of the next best
01:49
team. We have been so consistent, and the boys have ridden to the pressure, because
01:55
there is pressure when you play for Parliament Town, not just because there's huge crowds,
01:58
but because of the external noise, and people expect you to win every game. That's not realistic,
02:02
it's not football, and we've done a very good job of nearly making it true.
02:05
And that's two years in a row, so you've sealed titles in March, which kind of says it all, really, doesn't it?
02:10
Yeah, March wins, I mean, they don't come around very often. Title wins, for clarity,
02:14
do not come around very often, and we've done two in three, six, seven days in March,
02:22
and we'll remember these moments for the rest of our lives.
02:25
Obviously, when you first got involved, you wanted to create special memories for the town,
02:29
for the community, there's already been so many, and tonight is obviously another one, isn't it?
02:34
Yeah, look, it's been a fantastic week in sport for Farnham, a huge shout-out to the
02:38
Farnham Rugby Club, who also got promotion to the highest level they've ever been at,
02:42
so congratulations to them. Farnham Football is on a trajectory that's going beyond what
02:48
you could ever imagine, and that's thanks to the community and everyone that is around,
02:51
so keep pushing it forward, and the boys on the pitch who make it happen.
02:55
All those guys, perfect harmony, I'm just here to watch on and cheer,
02:59
and back to that baby, it's a sweet, sweet feeling.
03:04
And obviously this comes in the week with the good news about the clock end work,
03:09
so it's really fitting, on the pitch and off the pitch, moving forward still.
03:13
Yeah, it's huge news, clock end development got approved, that's a near 800 capacity
03:19
standing stand that will sit behind the clock end, make us more than Step 3 compliant,
03:24
and I'm ready to go and mount an assault on maybe another table.
03:28
We couldn't, could we?
03:30
Yeah, obviously you've won it tonight, you probably don't want to think about next season,
03:34
but it's exciting, isn't it?
03:35
It is exciting, it's a whole new world for Farnham Town, 120 year history,
03:40
and they've never been at Step 4 before, we've just blitzed it, 21 points clear in March,
03:44
won the league, and we're talking about Step 3 football, that's a massive step up,
03:49
the expectation is not that we go and run that table,
03:52
but I'm excited to see what Step 3 football has to offer Farnham Town.
03:56
And obviously just a word on the scenes of celebration at the final whistle,
04:00
the players, the management, the fans, everyone, just great scenes really, isn't it?
04:05
Great scenes, and it just sums up what has been achieved at this club and in this town,
04:09
over the last few years.
