00:00Well, exit the Surrey Senior Cup 3-1 against a strong Dorking Wanderers side tonight. Obviously

00:08damage done in the first half, but lots of positives in the second half. Thoughts on

00:12that?

00:13Yeah, I thought it was the old cliché game of two halves. They went strong in the first

00:18half, we made six changes and it sort of showed, but it was one of them, they dominated the

00:24ball. I think if you looked at the first half it had been around 95% of the ball they had,

00:29but they didn't really do anything with it. Everything was out wide and we looked comfortable.

00:33But yeah, cut the sloppy moments, poor goalkeeping really. And yeah, we found ourselves 2-0 down

00:40and it was an uphill task from there on in.

00:42Yeah, in that first half they had a lot of the ball. In the first half hour, Hugo hadn't

00:46really had a save to make and then suddenly it was three goals in five minutes.

00:50Yeah, it was. It was literally that. I think they had to cut the crosses, which we dealt

00:54with. But yeah, I don't think he's made a save in the first half. And yeah, so it's

00:58disappointing. But yeah, we come out second half and I think we put on a good show in

01:03the second half.

01:04What was the message at half-time? Obviously, you were looking to take it to them in the

01:09second half and obviously you did play well in that second half.

01:12Yeah, we sort of changed the shape a little bit and then pushed a little bit higher up.

01:16I think it accumulates. We brought a few of the boys on that have been playing regularly

01:20and I think they made a couple of changes and it didn't work out for them and it worked

01:23out for us. And yeah, on another day, I think we take it to penalties or we go and win the

01:30game. I think overall we've had the better chances in the game. Again, Hugo's made one

01:35save in the second half. But yeah, there's just too much to do in the second half.

01:40Yeah, a nice free kick from Jordan and there were plenty of chances. Owen Dean's hit the

01:44post, he's had another one, there were sort of, yeah, some riders had a header.

01:48Yeah, Kyle's had a couple and yeah, Sammy's had one on the edge of the box. I think he

01:51should have hit and then, yeah, Owen Dean's had another one that he should have hit at

01:55the edge of the box and it just didn't quite fall for us. But I said to the boys afterwards,

02:00you know, that's what they did to us in the first half is what we've got to do in the

02:03league to the teams that we play against. And we take the second half as we move forward.

02:09Yeah, I mean, obviously tonight, the strength of their team that they started with, I guess,

02:13was a bit of a compliment really. And it's obviously a different challenge for you to face.

02:17And I guess, obviously, back to the league where you're usually, obviously, you know,

02:21well clear at the top and dominating. As you say, you want to sort of take that into the

02:25league and go forward.

02:26Yeah, we take that into the league. It's not a competition, you know, we're just taking

02:31it too seriously with what we've got in front of us. We're not well clear like we were last

02:36year. You know, Kingstoners are still chasing us down and one thing we didn't want was any

02:41injuries today. You know, we were great pulled out before kick-off with a goal in, which

02:44was a little bit disappointing. This competition is cursing us a little bit with those sort

02:49of injuries. But yeah, we've got through it with everyone else. So everyone else got good

02:54minutes and like I say, we move on.

02:56Yeah, great in the warm-up, obviously a sensible thing just to pull him out and hopefully it's

03:00not too serious, hopefully.

03:01No, hopefully, like a couple of weeks, you know, rest up. He's still struggling anyway

03:05with his teeth. He's got to have it sorted out again. So yeah, time for him to do his

03:09strength work and get ready for a couple of weeks' time.

03:12Yeah, the only sort of, I say, no injuries, hopefully. The only issue was obviously the

03:16delay with Hugo. He was able to carry on. Was that just something with his eye, was

03:19it? Contacts?

03:20Yeah, he got mud in his eye. So yeah, it's a lengthy start, maybe done us a favour.

03:26Yeah, as you say, yeah, sort of really positive second-half performance and sort of, yeah,

03:31take the momentum into a big game at Hammerfielder on Saturday.

03:34Yeah, definitely. It could have gone the other way and it could have been a drumming. But

03:39the boys, you know, dug in and showed the spirit that they've got. And yeah, they enjoyed

03:42the second half and showed they didn't get anything out of it.

03:44Yeah, as I say, there were enough chances. And if the second had arrived, that could

03:47have really been a sort of grandstand finale there.

03:49Yeah, it looked like it was coming. But yeah, we just couldn't quite get the second and

03:55you know, we just went out of time.

03:57And just, yeah, change of room at the end. Sort of, yeah, that second half gives, you

04:00know, give a bit of momentum, obviously.

04:02Yeah, it's a mixed one, you know, because we've lost a game. The boys don't like losing

04:07any game of football. But at the same time, you know, what they did second half is positive

04:12there for Saturday.

04:13Yeah, and we're obviously, you know, going really well in the league. But good, good

04:17tonight to have a sort of test like that against, you know, a side, obviously, going well in

04:20National League South.

04:21Yeah, yeah, real good test tonight, especially with the 20-day break that we've had and coming

04:25back on Saturday, you know, it was a little bit of a rusty Saturday. So this was perfect

04:29for us to get us ready.

04:31Yeah, as I say, it was sort of three weeks before, between games before Saturday. And

04:34you know, we are coming thick and fast now, Saturday and then Tuesday again, Moneyfields

04:38and Saturday.

04:39Yeah, we've got Saturday and Tuesday coming up. And yeah, like you say, the 20-day break,

04:43I think we only trained twice in that break due to the weather. So what we've got on tonight

04:48is credit to the boys.

04:49We just have to manage everyone before Saturday? We sort of still train as usual?

04:52No, that's it. We're done now. We turn up Saturday, weather permitting, at Anwer Villa

04:57and yeah, we go Saturday and Tuesday.
