00:58amateur background as an Olympian Rougaroo Regis Progre with not that much amateur experience

01:10home like you said Todd Regis Progre wearing all purple in fact we talked to him this week he was
01:18on zoom from his purple Charger Hellcat that had purple interior good left hand the body for Rougarou you
01:25could see that the program good body shot program he's imposing the bigger size Jojo started at feathering
01:32so he's naturally the smaller slider Rougarou Progre is actually doing the right thing by by making
01:38himself physical presence trying to back him up and pose the size and Jojo Diaz was pretty good at 126
01:46he was a world champion at 130 but as he's gone up in weight he has really struggled and now we see him
01:53fighting at a career high weight and what we've seen from him as he's gone up to 135 and now 140 the punch
02:00output isn't the same impact on the shots isn't the same he really is 130 135 pound fighter
02:07now fighting in the welterweight division lost his title on the skill you know weight issues lack
02:14lack of discipline and responsibility good body shot there though yes but Jojo when he's focused
02:19this kid can fight he gave Gary Russell jr. a tough fight 126 pounds well Jojo says he's now focused
02:29because he left out Los Angeles has moved to Texas said he cut off all the dead weight all the hangers on
02:34all the party animals in his life has stopped drinking he's focused on family first boxing second he knows what's on the line here
02:42one thing we know about Jojo at any weight class he can take a punch he ate a record number of punches
02:50from William Zepeda in their fight 135 pounds Jojo just signed a clean body shot in the seat to offset
02:56Progre doesn't have respect for Jojo's power I can see already Jojo Diaz is a volume puncher but if he's done good
03:04uppercut and that wobbled the legs of Rougarou reaches Progre who's the 10 to work favorite is in trouble here in the first round
03:13Progre with no respect of Jojo Diaz's power he's rocking on his feet right now
03:19and he's clubbing it with the left hand 30 seconds to go here in round one
03:23we didn't think this was going to be a slugfest and yet here we are

04:22Jojo caught him with a chopping left hand you can see that Progre trying to shake it off

04:33Jojo with a lifetime an opportunity of a lifetime but the bell saved
04:38Regis Progre on that one man
04:40and Sergio among the reasons that people thought Regis Progre was done was that the punch resistance
04:45has seemed to go the last couple of fights he got dropped in his fight by Devon Hand
04:50he got dropped twice by Jack Catterall walking into clean shots
04:53it's felt like at 36 the punch resistance just isn't there
04:57and let me tell you something it doesn't look like Regis' legs are all there
05:00even walking out of the corner
05:03and listen guys he may look like the fresher fighter but he's an older fighter here at 36 years old
05:08so it's going to take a lot longer for him to get the cow webs out
05:12especially when he got hurt that quickly and that early
05:14he'll serve Jojo right to go at Progre right now and loop those shots over the top
05:20yeah before that Regis was dominating the round with that jab

05:29power shots landed in round one Jojo Diaz landed 29 power shots

05:39Regis you can see that he's back now feet are under him nice snap to his jab
05:48that's what he needs to do now he wants to win this fight

05:54responsible discipline keep that range don't let Jojo chop you with that overhand left again
05:59if you're Jojo Diaz you've got to be brimming with confidence even though this rounds off to a sluggish start

06:07it's a guy lost six of his last eight hasn't had a quality win since he beat Javier Fortuna
06:12that's got to give him a lot of confidence to buckle Regis the way he did at first
06:15especially at this weight class
06:18Diaz a two-time U.S. Amateur Champion in the 2012 U.S. Olympian former champ good left hand from Regis Progre
06:26well we know that Jojo Diaz can hurt Progre now that answers from Progre hurt Jojo
06:32Jojo's a smaller man coming up against a hard puncher in Regis Progre
06:38Bob Progre I'm not counting on getting a knockout against Jojo Diaz
06:42Jojo's only been stopped one time in his career and that was by Oscar Duarte

06:53it's hard to put down a man like Jojo Diaz

07:29Progre's doing a good job keeping his range of distance
07:32popping that jab and you can see that he's a heavier handed fighter
07:35so just keep popping him with that discipline jab
07:39get your legs under you and start putting rounds on the bench

07:47he's a good round up until the point he got buckled

08:21and pro grip boxing good on the outside but it seems like he can't take a puncher he's still
08:45shaky because at the end of that round he got hit again by jojo diaz and his legs shook
08:50went back a little shaky to his corner it was another short left hand on the inside that buckled
08:56the legs of region program so sergio if you're in the corner jojo diaz do you say carpe diem

09:15hurt him you have a lot of time to keep hurting him back to back rounds where progray's legs
09:22looked very shaky you could see that progray's a faster fighter the harder puncher quick on his
09:30feet better defense but he doesn't have the resistance the punch resistance the chin that
09:36jojo diaz brings to the to the table and he's not getting hurt and dropped by big punchers
09:42haney caterall now jojo diaz that chin vulnerable that's what happens when you get a late start in
09:49boxing you know you you you don't really get that chin worn and accustomed to getting hit or rolling

09:57right hand from regis offensively he looks as good as gold it's just when he gets hurt or gets hit rather
10:06quicker hands heavier shot you can see jojo's just waiting to time him he's giving regis 10 shots but
10:17he just wants that one shot because he knows he can hurt rubu
10:20but how much more abuse and punishment can jojo take these are heavy heavy pound he can take a lot
10:30jojo diaz can take a lot of punishment but i do agree with your point i don't think he can just lay

10:42he's got to get deeper off to the inside the body shot by jojo
10:48he's investing the body in this third round even though prograde is controlling this round
10:54he's looking good looking sharp behind that jab he's investing nice body shot like he did right

11:05prograde friding with his hands low jojo diaz maybe 32 years old and four years younger than
11:16prograde but i'm telling you man that's over championship experience years and he's fighting
11:21like an old veteran like an old bull jojo is no speed of regis prograde continue to betray him
11:28and the crowd i tell you the crowd is eating it up i'm meeting it up normally in the crossroads
11:39fight between two fighters that are long in the tooth they don't look this good they don't look
11:43this sharp and the fight is not this exciting good left hand from ds

16:31they trip feet but that could have easily been no knockdown
16:38but diaz has a sense of urgency as well he knows he's damaged good
16:42the diaz is accustomed to flying fighting through blood

18:06he's down that could be a shame for this one to be stopped early it's been sensational so far
18:26as we enter round five good work by the referee over the last half round gets it checked out by the
18:33doctor allows the fight to continue takes a quick look at jojo diaz coming out of the corner
18:38and doesn't even bother to stop it just lets these two guys go

18:47progress he's just teeing off on him he can see he's teeing off on the back foot as well because
18:52he sees that jojo's coming he's coming in a little bit recklessly not moving his upper body so
18:57progress just teen off on the back foot and this is the fight that progress should be doing now

19:07at the totals in four rounds similar punches landed but diaz much more accurate
19:12yes we'd love to see if he can buzz progray with another one of those temple shots
19:27oh both of them is changing punches progray keeping the chin a little bit too high high to for my liking
19:33right now and sergio where regis has gotten in trouble in recent fights is that he fights consistently
19:38with his hands down sometimes he comes in without keeping that guard up that's how jack cadderall
19:42caught him a couple of times down and chin up and right now jojo is doing a good job
19:47punching when his head's down guys like this you can catch over the top progray's better put that chin down
19:53progray's almost taunting him leaving his chin in the air and there it is again jojo caught on to that overhand left
19:59is progray just showing off too much but she's bow here sergio no no that's how he fights
20:06hold on to him regis he fights a little bit too up right there go have three right program
20:11sit back quick hands quick feet he's athletic he's powerful but he's a little bit too stiff
20:15and a veteran like jojo will take advantage of that
20:25watch your head another looks like flash of heads there as jojo diaz trying to crash to the inside
20:36i'll tell you what i normally crossroads fights like this between two aging fighters isn't this sharp
20:42this exciting jojo trying to set traps progray trying to keep control and popping them keeping
20:49jojo diaz bloody at the end of that jab regis promised to get back to the old me saying i'm
20:55going to be having fun and you'll see me shine well he's having fun because he's shining but
21:00he's getting hit too cleanly it looked like his legs kind of went out on him again
21:05and i don't like that i don't like the way progress been reacting to the punches that jojo lands
21:09jojo's not even a puncher and he's hurting regis program like this

22:46the doctor just asked him how many fingers am i holding up he said two and chris unless my math's
23:06bad he was only holding up one he did it twice too gave jojo diaz a chance to correct himself he
23:12couldn't do it and the doctor decided it's okay we let this fight continue why even asking if the
23:17wrong answer is going to work just save yourself the embarrassment good body shot by jojo right there
23:26comes right back and answers downstairs with two body shots of himself
23:33i did not expect this type of select from these guys we thought our main event could be a fight of
23:38the year contender this is pretty darn good nice flurry there from regis uppercut flurry by regis
23:45program that's what he needs to keep doing on the inside dig with them uppercuts on the outside keep
23:50sticking him with that jab jojo wants to make this a street fight a brawl now that he's bloody
23:58regis needs to prevent that he needs to go on the outside and control the the eagerness and the
24:03aggression of jojo keep popping them keep them bloody that's the message that k karoma was giving
24:08regis in the corner said jojo diaz going for broke every single time you just got to use your speed
24:14stay on the outside and you win every round yeah jojo going for broke but you got to make him pay
24:18anytime he stops coming inside good body shot again regis looks wobbly oh regis doesn't look good
24:25good any time diaz lands a power shot to the head progray's legs betray him
24:36i've never seen regis buckle this many times when he gets hit
24:49good left there down the pipe from progray but this is where jojo can shine if he getting on the inside
24:54and land those hooks he's looking for that same shot the same short left hook landed two in the
24:59chin of progray progray took him well what a warrior jojo diaz is man bloody on the front foot looking for
25:06a way to put down progray no respect for the puncher nice uppercut there from jojo the head snaps back
25:14the crowd loving it they are cheering for the underdog here
25:24oh counter right from diaz progray not keeping the head now he's breathing with his mouth open that's no
25:35good that's a sign of fatigue and you can actually break your jaw when you have your mouth open like
25:42that he's still going throwing that jab out there it's still a pretty good weapon right it's almost like
25:47the instincts are taking over he's just throwing that jab every single opportunity he gets progray better
25:52shut that mouth close that mouth and tuck that chin in because jojo will catch him over the top
25:58and he's wobbled again and again did diaz finally put him down he's come so close so many times
26:06just snug it up to the bell
26:14inside so you know i know it's fun but you ain't got to give them to him

26:48and this is just a slugfest between two former champions two guys that wanted two guys that have
26:54to win this crossroads fight bloody bruise cut jojo diaz on the front foot continuing to look for that
27:01knockdown every time we just program gets hit by something those legs buckle and jojo can smell it
27:07hold on hold on you know that is at least the third round where jojo diaz has needed like 10 or 15
27:15more seconds to land the kind of shot that would put progray down and at the end of those rounds
27:20diaz goes to his corner with his gloves raised to the air
27:23let's check chris manix's scorecard through six full rounds i've got a 58 56 in favor of regis
27:31progray gave jojo that last round on the back of a tremendous last 30 45 seconds but regis
27:38when he's been on he has been on that jab has been a really good weapon for him
27:42he's landed a lot of power shots and jojo for at least three or four of these rounds but even too
27:46many of them 58 56 regis program well chris i'm sure there's a lot of people watching at home that
27:52might give one or two more rounds to diaz just because of the body language from regis i think
27:57the body language for a few of these rounds has been tough but middle part of this fight i thought
28:02regis's offense been pretty sharp progress been sharp on the outside and yeah i have to agree he
28:08controls the the majority of the round on the outside those legs even now they just look wobbly even when
28:15he's making the turn they just don't look sharp and that's what sways the judges and probably sways a lot
28:20of scorecards there because he controls most of the round most of the minute of the three but
28:26jojo once he does catch him with something probably shakes and doesn't know how to hide then he's hurt
28:37what a win this would be if somehow diaz can pull it off though not only that what a win it
28:42will be if he can knock out reach his program become the first man to ever stop this former champion
28:47that's how you send a message and that's how you come back when everyone just ignored you and
28:54forgot about you
28:58regis progray again was listed as about a 10 to 1 favorite in this fight
29:07we just didn't think jojo diaz would be able to throw enough punches we didn't think he'd have enough
29:12power to be able to do what he's doing good body shots by program but he's keeping his chin in the
29:18air i think jojo is getting closer and closer to letting that overhead left there it is right there guys
29:24we just need to start moving his upper body or keeping that right hand up jojo's gonna land something
29:29big with that left hand
29:40there it is there it is again regis is gonna get caught whether he likes it or not there's too much
29:45of an opening with the right hand down to his waist it's a tough fight to score because regis will land
29:50five punches in a row jojo will hit him with one and regis's legs wobble and he looks shaken

30:28man if this one is exceeding expectations get prepared for the main event between boxer versus
30:35puncher the hometown guy in sims and the man that thinks he's a future of not only the division but the
30:41future of boxing and oscar amigrania duarte yeah if you watched the ken the sims jr but here

31:22i would say though todd i don't know that there have been too many tricky rounds to score it's been a
31:29tough fight a rugged fight obviously but the rounds that jojo diaz has hurt program and the rounds that he's
31:35won those other rounds he's been largely outwards keep the punches up regis let's go box there's your
31:44power shots landed these seven rounds and surprisingly diaz has landed 109 compared to pro
31:50grades 92. yeah the best weapon for pro grade has been that jab i'm sure the jab numbers are significantly
31:55higher for program and i think body language jojo's catching the second win on the front for looking to
32:01attack and landing nicely i think these next two rounds are going to be jojo diaz round
32:09even with pro grades just walking around the ring chris his legs continue to lock up and that's why
32:16that's why i'm favoring jojo on this one because progress body language is not there
32:21and he's starting late in his career he doesn't know how to fight tired guys big shots landed here
32:26from diaz and progress firing back
32:32fighting when you're fatigued is a talent you need to learn on the gym
32:38diaz trying to pull the blood out of his face as that cut continues to open up and you're right
32:43sergio the bounce on the legs of jojo diaz a lot better than the bounce we're seeing for program
32:48and sergio when a fighter's legs are gone like pro grades do you want him to continue to try and
32:53bounce around to get life into him or do you want to stay flat-footed no you want to stay flat-footed
32:58because progress a flat-footed fighter and like i was talking about fighting tires is a skill
33:05big left hand there for program how did diaz eat that one
33:09and a quick right hand from diaz
33:19you're looking at two warriors giving you absolutely everything they've got the body shot by jojo right
33:26there broke program comes right back to the body what a fight and if either one of these fighters
33:32does indeed retire after this bout what a memory to leave us with
33:37i think we need to see a rematch before they retire man

34:26controversial fashion with crocker taking the win by dq catch the highly anticipated rematch

35:36diaz has rocked prograde numerous times but regis prograde has been just pouring on the offense

35:58he'll serve prograde right to push jojo back now jojo is accustomed to coming forward
36:05against rubro but now rubro has a little bit of strength left can push him back now i think
36:11he'll serve him right let's have jojo on the back foot well his legs allow him to push jojo back
