00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03For this challenge, you will be creating ready-to-wear looks.
00:06The winner will have their looks sold at Lord & Taylor.
00:09Very exciting, huh? Yes!
00:14I'm just gonna cut this out.
00:16That's the wrong one, remember?
00:17You know what I'm doing.
00:18You need to listen.
00:19Somebody is so controlling.
00:20They kind of look like the ass .
00:22Howard, Daniel, and Michelle.
00:24I love this color. Oh, God, it's pink.
00:26Pink.
00:27I look at this and I see Joan Collins wearing it.
00:29Yeah.
00:30I have to take apart my jacket.
00:32You made me feel like I wasn't doing anything right.
00:34Daniel, what are you doing right now?
00:36It's getting weird.
00:38Oh, my gosh.
00:39Oh, .
00:40I hemmed the top layer too much.
00:42My skirt is now a mini-mini skirt.
00:47Michelle, you are the clear winner of this challenge.
00:51Oh, my God!
00:53Richard, we've seen this silhouette many times before.
00:56You did not push yourself.
00:58Samantha, this look was messy and not well thought out.
01:03Samantha, I'm sorry.
01:04That means you're out.
01:06This is Project Runway.
01:08Team's edition.

01:44Hi.
01:45Hi.
01:46Hi.
01:47Hi.
01:48All right, let's go.
02:07Hi, designers.
02:09Hi.
02:10There are only six of you left.
02:12Such a small group.
02:15Now it's just you.
02:16You should be proud of yourselves.
02:18For this next challenge, you're going to be able to push the boundaries in a way that will show us just how creative you are.
02:25Tim is waiting for you at one of the art world's most modern and prestigious museums.
02:32So go meet him there and find out more about this very exciting challenge.
02:37Good luck, designers, and I see you back here on the runway.
02:39Bye.

02:50Bye.
02:51Bye.
02:52Oh my God, the Guggenheim.
02:54It's music to my ears, and all I can think is, oh, just breathe in the moment.
02:58Good morning, designers, and welcome to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
03:05How magnificent is this?
03:07The Guggenheim Museum, it's beautiful.
03:11I am going, oh my God, this is insane.
03:14So before we get to the challenge, the judges have reordered your teams.
03:18Okay.
03:19Okay, let's talk about who we want to see work together.
03:21What about Stanley and Michelle?
03:23Yes, I would like to see them work together.
03:25I think that would be an interesting combo.
03:27I think his chicness and her coolness would work.
03:31Stanley and Michelle.
03:32Hey.
03:33Hey.
03:34I am actually excited because Michelle is the only person in the competition that I have
03:38not worked with.
03:39Who would we want to see Patricia work with?
03:42Richard can be a little bit commercial, and Patricia can be a little conceptual and artsy.
03:48She can push him a little bit, and vice versa.
03:52Good idea.
03:53Patricia and Richard.
03:55Ooh, yes, girl.
03:58Patricia's very eccentric.
04:00This is my challenge that's based on being artistic, so let's see what she has.
04:04So that leaves Liana and Daniel.
04:07Liana can bring a little bit of coolness to Daniel.
04:10Yeah, she has a younger vibe.
04:11And Daniel might bring her a little more sophistication.
04:14And Liana and Daniel, of course.
04:18So welcome to the Guggenheim.
04:20This magnificent structure was designed by the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright.
04:24At the time of the museum's inception, it was at the forefront of innovative thinking.
04:29And that leads us to today's challenge.
04:31This is the HP Intel Challenge.
04:34And as you know, HP and Intel have been innovative leaders in design and technology since their own inception.
04:41So I want to introduce you to the HP Envy X2.
04:45This is a case of cutting-edge design meeting people's technology needs in any situation.
04:50Because on the one hand, it's an innovative PC.
04:54On the other hand, it is also a tablet.
04:57And a matter of speaking, it's a sort of convertible two-in-one PC.
05:01So in the spirit of pioneering innovation, we are at the Guggenheim for a reason.
05:06This museum and all of its contents are the source of your inspiration for this challenge.
05:12Each team is going to be creating a work of wearable art.
05:17And I'm talking about something over the top, grand, big.
05:22Now, this work of wearable art will have a companion piece that is commercial, in a matter of speaking.
05:29We're going to be making two garments.
05:31One that's a more avant-garde inspiration.
05:34The other one will be an image of that same piece that's more ready to wear and scale down.
05:40You're going to be creating a textile design.
05:44Back in the workroom, each team has an HP TouchSmart desktop with pattern-making software.
05:50This will allow you to execute a textile design that will be incorporated into both pieces.
05:57Designers loaded onto these three HP Ultrabooks inspired by Intel.
06:01You'll find information and archived photographs of the Guggenheim.
06:04And this should help give you inspiration and insight into all aspects of what this challenge is about.
06:10I really enjoy the HP technology. It's really helping my creativity get out.
06:15Your 30 minutes to explore the museum and sketch starts now.
06:21Okay, let's just work our way around.
06:23I love it. Look at that color.
06:27I'm really drawn to one of those sculptures that just looks like wires, like, weaving around itself.
06:33Look, check out the shadow on the wall.
06:36I think that's cool.
06:38Oh, this one. Look at this.
06:40That's beautiful.
06:41The paintings are inspiring me, are also inspiring Stanley, so it just kind of fits.
06:46I kind of want to play with, like, madness.
06:48Oh, yeah. I think we should.
06:50Mm-hmm.
06:51We're both in the same headspace.
06:52Oh, Michelle, this is going to be fun.
06:54I'm going to knock the judges' socks off.
06:56Ooh, I love this one.
06:59I'm not so crazy about this one.
07:02Seeing so many beautiful pieces right up close.
07:06Absorbing that alone and trying to stay focused is hard.
07:09My piece is going to be the clean piece.
07:12Yours is going to be more art, though, right?
07:14Oh, gosh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
07:17Yeah, yeah.
07:18Because this is your time to shine.
07:19Right.
07:20I'm putting my foot down right away.
07:22I'm doing the art piece.
07:23Let's go and figure this out.
07:25What is your shape going to be?
07:27Do you know?
07:28I've asked Richard more than once, what are you going to design as far as the dress?
07:35And he says, I don't know, because it's based on your look, and I don't quite understand.
07:40A shift, a mod, a line, you know, keeping in terms of mod and a line.
07:46Mm-hmm.
07:48Yeah.
07:49I feel that he is lost as far as what modern art is about.
07:53Oh.
07:57Are you kidding me?
08:08Ooh.
08:09Ooh.
08:10Our challenge today is to design one avant-garde look and one ready-to-wear look inspired by art that we see from the Guggenheim.
08:19Look at all this stuff.
08:21All right, designers.
08:22What I love about our HP Intel challenges is what you're going to be doing now, which is designing your own textile.
08:28So you each, as a team, have an HP TouchSmart desktop.
08:32If I had one of these computers at home, I'd be creating fabric all the time.
08:36You have all of this material to help you with your wearable art look.
08:41It's fun.
08:43After you create your textile design, it's going to Dynamics for Manufacture, and it will arrive tomorrow morning.
08:49We're going shopping at Mood, where you will have a budget of $200 for supplemental fabric.
08:54Your hour designing on the HP TouchSmart desktop begins right now.
08:59Thank you, designers.
09:00Thank you, Sam.
09:01Thank you, Sam.
09:05We're working with this HP to do the fabric.
09:07That looks 2 4th of July.
09:09When we had it done on a grander scale, we decided it kind of looked like a quilt.
09:13So let's go back.
09:15Yeah, she's like in agony, right?
09:17And then we want her to have longer hair.
09:19I want to have some, like, stress, some crazy hair.
09:21The print is kind of reflecting just mentally where I am right now.
09:25Just not necessarily on the brink of insanity, but kind of in that realm.
09:30It's definitely my color palette.
09:32In fact, my kitchen is painted this color.
09:34Woman on the verge or just... she's beyond the verge.
09:38The face of the woman on our fabric is represented in the clothes.
09:42I wonder if anyone's going as creep-a-rama as we are.
09:45Are we doing the triangles?
09:47Yeah.
09:48We both agreed that we wanted to utilize the triangles
09:51because it gave it more of a cutting-edge feel.
09:54I love the fact that the HP can create imagery that rotates.
10:00At my studio, that would take 4 days or more.
10:03That's pretty cool.
10:04Cool.
10:05Yeah.
10:06I love it.
10:07Leanna cleverly came up with a geometrical design.
10:10I don't know.
10:11Print it up.
10:12Hurry up.
10:13Print it.
10:14Print it.
10:15Print it.
10:16Print it.
10:17That's a good sign when things happen.
10:18Really cool at the last minute.
10:19And it was like, voila.
10:20All right, designers.
10:21Your textile designs are done.
10:23And your files are being downloaded and sent to Dynamics.
10:27And we're going off to Mood.
10:32Ciao, grazie.
10:33Poor mama.
10:34All right, designers.
10:35Let's head back to 1407 Broadway.
10:37Thank you, Mood.
10:39Thank you, Mood.
10:40All right, there is an enormous incentive for you to want to win this challenge.
10:53The winner of this challenge will receive a $10,000 cash prize.
10:58Wow.
10:59Yes.
11:00From HP and Intel and an HP Envy X2.
11:05I'm excited.
11:06So you want to win, do you not?
11:09Oh, my gosh.
11:10Yeah.
11:11$10,000?
11:12Holy cow.
11:13Have a good day.
11:14I'll see you tomorrow.
11:15Have a good night, Kim.
11:1656.
11:1756 width, right?
11:18I think it said 56, yeah, yeah.
11:19I'm working on my dress.
11:20Richard is fiddling with making a bracelet.
11:35If you want to do that while I start working on cutting the band, we can do it like that.
11:40Yeah.
11:41I asked him to come and help me with my design so he could get inspiration.
11:45Because he needs to start really thinking about his dress.
11:48I'll have this done in 10 minutes.
11:49Yeah, I know.
11:50In the past.
11:51Patricia has a vision and I can't make mine unless I know what she's making and I have
11:56to understand what she's making.
11:57I don't even know where I'm going to go.
12:02Coming up on Project Runway.
12:04You need to have a look to send down the runway.
12:06That's a disaster.
12:07I'm totally lost.
12:09This isn't working.
12:10If something goes wrong, it's all on me.
12:15Oh, it's here.
12:16I'm so excited.
12:17Woo!
12:18Oh, a roll of fabric.
12:20Our fabrics arrived.
12:21Wow.
12:22Oh, my gosh.
12:23It's exactly what we wanted.
12:40We are so excited to work our designs out.
12:43Wowza.
12:44This is amazing.
12:45It's insanity.
12:46It's just so cool.
12:48Wow.
12:49I'm so into it.
12:50Seeing my fabric for the first time is so exciting.
12:53The design is bold.
12:55Wish I could just keep designing more fabric.
12:57They did everything we wanted.
12:59Wow.
13:00To have something that you create and it's printed.
13:03Good color choices, my friend.
13:06I totally dig it.
13:07All I know is we've got to get to work.
13:09There's a lot to do.
13:17So this is going to go like this?
13:19How about here?
13:20I thought you were going to go out.
13:21You think I should go out more?
13:22Yeah.
13:23I just thought this dude was going to be a fuller skirt instead of form of fitting.
13:26I can do that.
13:27Yeah, I think that's the way to go for sure.
13:31I can do that.
13:32I thought that since I had the ready to wear it would be the easier garment, I decided to help Patricia.
13:39I should have never have done that.
13:41After I saw what Patricia was designing, there was nothing that remotely inspired me about her design.
13:46Good afternoon, designers.
13:49I'm eager to see what you're doing.
13:51Talk to me.
13:52We both wanted to work on the museum piece.
13:55Are you just using the print in the shoulder areas?
13:57Just in the shoulder area.
13:58Okay.
13:59I did a painting on the back of the train.
14:01Do you want me to see it?
14:02It's six yards long, so it'll really train out.
14:05Oh, my God.
14:06Behind her.
14:07This is fabulous.
14:09I have chills.
14:10Oh, golly.
14:11He said it gave him chills.
14:13Chills!
14:14Talk to me about the companion piece.
14:15It's more like a baby doll, but a little bit more, I think more like 50s.
14:18Our fabric is going to kind of float on top.
14:20Where is the print being used?
14:21It's going to be the whole dress with pockets.
14:23I have to tell you, I thought, what in God's name are they going to do with that?
14:27And now, I'm a thousand percent believer.
14:30Okay.
14:31Okay, girl.
14:32Okay.
14:34So what was your inspiration?
14:35I loved the different hues in this particular piece.
14:38I kind of created a color and shadowing with the corrugated waistline.
14:42This?
14:43Yes.
14:44I was then inspired by this, using these colors and shapes of our fabric.
14:48And this is for the top barrel?
14:50Yes.
14:51Can I just say this?
14:52Mm-hmm.
14:53There's an awful lot going on.
14:55You need to just let it go, let it flow.
14:58So what are you doing?
14:59I started, and then I just, I hated what I did, because it was just this plain.
15:03What did you do?
15:04It was just this plain white skirt, and I was going to just trim it with a little bit of the fabric at the bottom.
15:08So when did you abandon the skirt?
15:09Two hours ago.
15:10So I was going to create this belt, and it was going to be done like this, like I initially did with this bracelet.
15:15When did you make the bracelet?
15:16Yesterday, and I put a little bit of it together.
15:18You need to have a look to send down the runway.
15:20This is it, right here.
15:23I'm so confused.
15:24So you are using it?
15:26Yeah, and then...
15:27I mean, can I be blunt?
15:28Given how many hours you all have had in the workroom, this doesn't look like you've achieved very much.
15:33Seeing that I have virtually nothing really put together, I'm totally lost.
15:40And were you consulting with Patricia?
15:42Well, I said, well, why don't you help me with this, and then it might give you inspiration.
15:45What I'm hearing is that the whole thrust of this is owned by you.
15:49No.
15:50How not?
15:51Um...
15:52I'm going to be really blunt.
15:54I'm worried about the two of you, and I'm struck by how you're being, Richard.
16:00I feel as though you have a strategy, which is that if you're on the bottom, you're going to say it's all on Patricia's head.
16:06Never.
16:07I would never do that.
16:08What?
16:09What?
16:10No.
16:11No.
16:12My strategy here was to stay focused and push myself.
16:16I never thought of it before, but this makes sense.
16:18I'm pissed.
16:19That is just outright wrong.
16:21I feel very disabled with your team.
16:25If two people ever had a make-it-work moment, it's the two of you.
16:29I am mortified.
16:30Just move the needle forward.
16:34How are Leona and Daniel?
16:36Hi, Tim.
16:37I love your print.
16:39I thought young.
16:40I thought outside of my box.
16:42The jacket's beautiful.
16:43I get it.
16:44Yeah.
16:45You don't have to go into any...
16:46Yeah, you don't.
16:47First, I was doing like a cylinder, but then I thought that it would be too literal.
16:52Too literal to what?
16:53To the Guggenheim Museum?
16:54Yeah.
16:55And then I decided to play with the shape.
16:59You need to push this much further.
17:01We've been working really good together.
17:03Good, but you're enabling this look to go flat and lifeless.
17:08If this is a design that's going to be graded on a scale of 1 to 100, you're at about a 12.
17:18This isn't working.
17:20Are you surprised to hear me say this?
17:23I mean, look around the room.
17:25I'm just so overwhelmed.
17:27For some reason, I just can't get to that creative level that I need right now.
17:32Why are you having such difficulty?
17:33What's the matter?
17:39Today's just been really hard for me.
17:41But what's going on?
17:42I've just been second guessing myself the whole day.
17:45You know that doesn't work.
17:46I know this is out of your comfort zone.
17:48It's meant to be.
17:50Okay.
17:51You need a hug.
17:52Liana is having a rough day and it's hard to see because she's always been really confident.
17:56I don't want her to go home because she had creative designer's block.
18:00Let go.
18:01You're going to do it.
18:02Thank you, Tom.
18:04Coming up on Project One Life.
18:07It's already the 11th hour.
18:09We are just sort of screwed.
18:10It's a recipe for disaster.
18:11Designers and models.
18:22This is good, isn't it?
18:23Mm-hmm.
18:24I like it.
18:25And it's nice to have a nice long neck because I put this on and it was not good.
18:37The ready-to-wear looks like the show starts off with that.
18:40The avant-garde looks like the show ends with that.
18:42They both look like they could be a part of a collection.
18:44Embrace the weird!
18:45Embrace the weird bump.
18:47This is looking good, though.
18:48Yeah, this is looking good.
18:50Finally, I reached a point of comfort.
18:53I feel like I'm back.
18:55I got out of that dark moment that I put myself into.
18:59I'm happy.
19:00Yes, Steve!
19:02Thank you, girl.
19:03I know Liana is going in the right direction.
19:06It's like she woke up.
19:08We'll see you in the morning.
19:10Okay.
19:11This just came off right here.
19:18Oh.
19:19Is it done?
19:20Bitch.
19:21I...
19:22Is it done?
19:23If it's done, it's done.
19:24Oh, the top of the zipper came off.
19:25It's done.
19:26Oh.
19:27You don't have another one?
19:29I might.
19:30Let's just pray.
19:32Here's a black one.
19:34Thank you, baby.
19:37Mm-hmm.
19:38Let's go, y'all.
19:48Bye, Adelaide.
19:49See you later, Adelaide.
19:58You dry?
19:59A little bit dry.
20:00A little bit wet.
20:01Yeah, it's wet right here.
20:02Get in there and .
20:03This sucks.
20:04I really want to make this really whimsical and fun.
20:07And it's already the 11th hour.
20:09And you cannot recreate and make a whole new garment.
20:12Why didn't we paint this first day?
20:17We run out of time.
20:18We are just sort of screwed.
20:20Good morning, designers.
20:22How is everyone?
20:23Good.
20:24We're going to have an hour to send your models
20:26to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms.
20:28Of course, use the Lord and Taylor wall
20:30thoughtfully and strategically.
20:32Your models will be coming in soon.
20:35Thank you, Tim.
20:46Young, simple, fresh.
20:48Like a 50s type of eyeliner done in her arm.
20:51Mm-hmm.
20:52We've got gorgeous, gorgeous foundation.
20:54It's called BB cream.
20:55Of course.
20:56It's really sheer and beautiful,
20:57and it's going to look excellent on her.
20:59So.
21:00You're going to kidnap her?
21:02She is.
21:03Being that I have the veil over her head,
21:06a little bit of lipstick and some mascara,
21:08and she's fine.
21:09She's fine.
21:14I want up something crazy.
21:17And then.
21:18I think that would be very cool.
21:19Yes.
21:20Okay.
21:21Great.
21:22This is going to be a piece that will be worn.
21:26Kind of like so.
21:27And it'd be awesome if her hair was just
21:30kind of intensely wild.
21:31Not just look like she's crazy.
21:33High fashion crazy.
21:34Well, it actually fits quite well.
21:37I don't know.
21:41Ready?
21:42I'm going to press you down and pop you in.
21:47Designers and models,

23:04Okay, let's meet the judges.
23:06Filling in for Zach Pozen,
23:08we have fashion designer, Rachel Roy.
23:10Hi, guys.
23:11Fashion director for Marie Claire magazine,
23:14Nina Garcia.
23:15Hi, guys.
23:16And our guest judge for today,
23:18fashion designer, Tracy Reese.
23:20Hi, everybody.
23:21We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
23:24One designer from the winning team
23:26will be the winner of this challenge,
23:28and one designer from the losing team
23:30will be out.
23:33Let's start the show.
23:44I never gave up,
23:45and I really worked hard on it,
23:47and it's a beautiful dress.
23:49I really like it,
23:50and I do think it's a work of art.
23:55I'm so proud.
23:56I know that I'm back.
23:57I am so proud of myself.
24:03She looked young.
24:04There's attitude.
24:05There's hip.
24:06There's sex appeal.
24:07My look speaks for itself.
24:08I love it.
24:09Daniel's writing to our look looks great.
24:10It's very polished.
24:11The jacket fits amazing.
24:12I think it's a knockout.
24:13I feel good about our team.
24:14I think it's a knockout.
24:15I feel good about our team.
24:21I'm very proud of my piece,
24:22because it is a bold statement.
24:24I'm very proud of my piece,
24:25because it is a bold statement.
24:27I'm very proud of my piece,
24:28and I'm very proud of my piece.
24:29It's not playing it safe.
24:30I did take a leap on this piece,
24:31and I'm happy for doing that.
24:36I've made her androgynous,
24:37and I feel like I am speaking art in this piece.
25:06I think the construction looked okay, but the bottom was not flattering at all.
25:20This look does not reflect me remotely as a designer.
25:29He gave up and he wouldn't allow any help to come in.
25:33So I'm really upset and I'm frustrated and sad inside.
25:44She's giving us spiraling air of control.
25:53It is awesome.
25:56It is big, it is kooky, it is gorgeous, it is art.
26:03The way to wear look, it is just superb.
26:14It is flawless.
26:15It is just floating down the runway and the underscirt just gives it exactly what it needs.
26:20And Nina smiled.
26:27Look at it move.
26:28Yeah.
26:32We pushed the boundaries, we worked well together, we were true artists and artisans and I feel really good.
26:38Designers, I was really impressed with your designs today, good job.
26:47But we still have to choose someone to go home and this is going to be very hard.
26:59Designers, this is what Project Runway is all about.
27:02It was really, really amazing, I loved it.
27:04One designer from the winning team will be the winner and one designer from the losing team will be out.
27:13Okay guys, let's bring out your models.
27:23Michelle and Stanley, tell us about your looks.
27:25When we were walking around the Guggenheim, we started talking about a dark, torrid woman who's possibly on the brink of insanity.
27:33And so we kind of ran with it.
27:35And Stanley, you know, I really like doing coats and jackets.
27:38And he was like, this is your time to do kind of an over the top coat.
27:42With Michelle doing her coat, when Tim said volume, volume, I walked in and I saw a bubble wrap, so my light bulb went on.
27:48And we also took inspiration from some of the sculptures and Michelle sort of translated that on the train.
27:53How did you guys come up with the print?
27:55What was your inspiration there?
27:56I just started drawing faces and Stanley was like, I really like what you're doing.
28:01Just do that.
28:02You're the guy, I think you're either going to love it or you're going to hate it.
28:05It's true.
28:05It's definitely a print.
28:06Either you're going to love it or you're going to hate it.
28:08I love it.
28:09Oh, good.
28:10I love the colors.
28:11Someone could look at it as spinning out of control or someone could look at it as quirky and fun.
28:17I think it's a beautiful print.
28:18I would love to wear it.
28:20I'd love to have that in my collection.
28:21It's a gorgeous dress.
28:22This look is just perfection, is all about spiraling out of control.
28:29However, it doesn't represent that at all when you see the dress come down the runway.
28:34And part of it is the design, the silhouette of the dress is very charming and it's the right length.
28:42It's a yin and a yang.
28:44But I love this avant-garde over the top piece a lot.
28:47I'm very happy that you were gutsy enough to go with this bubble wrap.
28:51This is a challenge where you can do it.
28:53You know, we said push yourself.
28:54Go for it.
28:55And you did.
28:56You were not afraid.
28:57I love that.
28:58Can I put a little on the back again?
28:59You did the hand drawing, Michelle?
29:01I did.
29:02Yeah.
29:03It's beautiful.
29:04It makes it one of a kind.
29:05It makes it very special.
29:06The shape of this overcoat is fantastic.
29:10Yeah, it's good.
29:11Thanks.
29:12Good job.
29:13So, if you are the winning team, Michelle and Stanley, who should be the winner?
29:15How about I just say you and you can just say me and then we cover our bases?
29:19I'm curious to know who did what?
29:21I designed this dress to make the pattern and sewed it.
29:24And Michelle made the jacket and painted it.
29:27And I made the bubble dress and we both painted it.
29:30And I did the print and then the painting on the back of the art coat.
29:36Yep.
29:37We were curious to see what you two would do together.
29:40So, we're very pleased.
29:42Richard and Patricia, tell us about your looks.
29:45When I first walked into the museum, the first thing that really caught my eye
29:50was the architecture.
29:52Aesthetically, I like structure.
29:54And then pick up from there.
29:55I drew a stylized eagle feather with lots of triangles.
29:59And we knew that we wanted to use these colors that are tribal, but you can't tell what tribe it is.
30:05So, that's what this whole piece became.
30:08You made the long dress.
30:09And Richard, you made the second look.
30:11You made the ready-to-wear look.
30:12Yes.
30:13I can see, Richard, where you struggled with the fabric on the white skirt.
30:19However, I do get that inspiration of architecture.
30:22I get that feeling, which I think is important.
30:25The second look.
30:27I like your play of the layering of that painting over the print.
30:32But what I don't think was successful was the overall presentation.
30:38It really did not translate harmoniously.
30:41Absolutely.
30:42The two garments don't speak back to each other.
30:45Together, as a team, it looks off to me.
30:49Patricia, I love your look.
30:51I gave it a really high score.
30:53I think it's beautiful.
30:54She looks so pretty under this white veil.
30:58For me, it's fresh.
31:00I can see you in there, too.
31:02Now, Richard's design, on the other hand, I don't like at all.
31:07I don't love this skirt.
31:08There's too many pleats that are kind of fighting with each other.
31:11So, I don't even know where to look.
31:13Yeah.
31:15So, who do you think is a stronger designer on your team?
31:19We have two totally different aesthetics.
31:21I mean, totally different.
31:23I think our struggle, honestly, through this process was trying to find the two backgrounds
31:29to marry together.
31:30That way, there was some fluidity to it.
31:34Daniel, Liana, tell us about your looks and your textiles.
31:37Great.
31:38Alejo, of course.
31:39I knew that we wanted to go very modern, with the print, and kind of like going crazy,
31:46like twisting, and shadows, and shapes.
31:49And actually, when we got back to the workroom, I was just such in a dark place, I couldn't
31:54get out.
31:55I was so upset, and finally, like, Daniel was talking to me, and then Tim, and he said,
31:59just go back to your comfort zone and have fun.
32:02I just started, like, playing, so everything just really fell into place, and that's what
32:06we came up with.
32:07And he was very supportive, too.
32:08It was great.
32:09Tell us about your look, too, Daniel.
32:11Hello.
32:12Actually, it was this little sculpture that was really inspiring to me.
32:15It made a really big impact.
32:17Liana, you know, told me to push the attitude, push the sexy.
32:21I've had so much fun doing this.
32:23I can't explain it, but it was, like, overwhelmingly good.
32:28Daniel, yours was my favorite.
32:30Yes, ma'am.
32:31This is so hot.
32:33She looks amazing.
32:36I feel like the skirt is beautiful.
32:38The jacket is killer.
32:39I would love to have that.
32:40It looks really good.
32:41Mm-hmm.
32:42Daniel, you did a great job.
32:44I think it looks sleek and modern and slightly sexier than I've seen you do before.
32:50Yeah.
32:51Liana was a very good influence.
32:52Yes.
32:53Uh, on that.
32:54I made sure that you, I said, make something I'm gonna wear.
32:59Yes.
33:00Think of me.
33:01Well, she's a wonderful muse, and it worked perfectly.
33:03Yes, I'm very, I'm so appreciative.
33:04Thank you so much.
33:05It's so hard to cut a good blazer, and you nailed it.
33:09The shoulders are exquisite.
33:11Up close, the detail is spot on.
33:13I think you did an exceptional job, uh, with this challenge.
33:18Out of the two, for me, it's Daniel.
33:20I think she looks hot.
33:22Mm-hmm.
33:23The second outfit, though, I could see how you struggled, Liana.
33:26I do think it's a little bit of a hodgepodge of everything.
33:29I feel like you roller-skated around the museum and took one thing of everything
33:33and threw it all in one dress, and it looks a little bit like a period piece,
33:38so it's not one of my favorites.
33:40I'm sorry.
33:41These two looks, one of them is today and one of them is yesteryear.
33:45The thing that doesn't come together for me is that the Guggenheim is dedicated to modern art,
33:50so I expected something more modern, because it's almost fighting the print.
33:55The print looks very modern to me.
33:57It looks very mid-century, but the dress looks very 19th century.
34:01She's this mix of Scarlett O'Hara and a Barbie doll, and it's so not your style.
34:07As a designer, just look at your garment and just think, would you want to wear it?
34:13So if this was a winning look, who would be the winner?
34:16My opinion, this is my opinion, if it was down to a winning look, I know that my look was stronger.
34:22My ready-to-wear, even though she did help me, I would feel comfortable taking ownership with that.
34:28Do you agree with him?
34:30Not 100%, because I do think that even though he constructed the ready-to-wear,
34:34but I do think that it was definitely 50-50, and if I wasn't there to help, I don't know if it would have been like this.
34:44It's all good.
34:47Yes, ma'am.
34:48Okay, we have heard what you had to say.
34:50We're going to have a little chat, and then I call you back out.
34:53You can use the runway.
34:58I love this challenge.
34:59They did a great job.
35:00Yeah.
35:01Most of them.
35:02A team that I think didn't work that well together, Patricia and Richard.
35:06Yeah.
35:07Patricia's piece, yes, it was beautifully painted, but I didn't really care for the veil that she put on.
35:14That was tricky.
35:15To me, the real successful part of Patricia's look is what she did by hand.
35:20The painting.
35:21Yes, obviously, right.
35:22And the cutting of the shapes.
35:24And I wasn't really convinced about the print either because I felt it looks a little bit circusy.
35:30Feels like a circus awning.
35:32I think for him, it kind of hung him out to dry a little bit because his garment wasn't enhanced with the hand painting or with the applique work,
35:40and it was just the print, so every flaw in the print was obvious.
35:43Yeah.
35:44With hers, I never would have thought, you know, there's a problem with this print.
35:47With his, it was front and center.
35:48Right.
35:49I mean, this skirt, no one should be wearing this skirt.
35:51No one should wear this.
35:52But you have these stripes.
35:53This was fighting with each other.
35:56Let's talk about Michelle and Stanley.
35:58They were both great, but Stanley, I have to applaud for using this bubble wrap.
36:02He was not afraid to use that, and that is really cool.
36:05It's interesting that he did that, but also made that beautifully refined, gorgeous, gorgeous dress my favorite.
36:12I loved that dress.
36:13He was able to utilize that print in a dress that is so sophisticated and at the same time so sweet and whimsical.
36:22What was great about the print was the scale of the faces.
36:26Yeah.
36:27You know, they weren't gigantic.
36:28They also weren't too small that you couldn't see it anymore.
36:30Right.
36:31And that she placed them in different directions.
36:34Right, to the side, head upside down.
36:36I thought that was really good.
36:38And she created that print, and that is a beautiful print.
36:40It's really just a very smart, smart design.
36:43Mm-hmm.
36:44And a beautiful color.
36:45She also constructed the jacket on the avant-garde piece, which was a gorgeous jacket.
36:49She hand-painted all of that on the train.
36:52Her spirit of fun and adventure within the partnership was an important part of their success.
36:58Yes, and we have to tap ourselves on the shoulder for that.
37:01I know.
37:02For pairing these two together.
37:03Because he is sophisticated, and she has all these...
37:07Spunk.
37:08Whimsical.
37:09Whimsical, funky ideas.
37:11So it's a really good combination.
37:13Yeah.
37:14Let's talk about Daniel and Liana.
37:15Yeah, her design was terrible.
37:17She just didn't know what to do.
37:19I must say, when I saw it going down the runway, I thought Daniel did it.
37:22It was just so Southern Belle typical.
37:24Yeah, Southern Belle.
37:25Kentucky Derby.
37:27Yeah.
37:28Scarlet O'Hara.
37:29Doolittle.
37:30Totally.
37:31It looked like something gone so wrong for a pageant.
37:34But Daniel did a good job.
37:36Daniel did an excellent job.
37:37That jacket was amazing.
37:39And the fact that he went in and did that shoulder detail.
37:41Right.
37:42I mean, that's time consuming.
37:43Absolutely.
37:44And it was sitting well.
37:45To get a shoulder perfect is not easy, and that was all him.
37:48I do think Liana thinks she is the cat's meow.
37:51I really do.
37:52But do you think she liked her dress?
37:54Do you think she would want to wear it if she had somewhere?
37:56That was a good challenge to say, put yourself in it.
37:59Because whenever we're stuck, it's like, would you wear it?
38:02Right.
38:03And if it's not good enough for you, how could it be good enough for anyone else?
38:06Absolutely.
38:07Okay, so we've made our decision.
38:12Let's bring them back out.
38:13Designers, we were very impressed with the runway show today.
38:21Good job.
38:22One designer from the winning team will be the winner.
38:25And one designer from the losing team will be out.
38:29One designer from the winning team will be the winner of this challenge.
38:42And one designer from the losing team will be out.
38:44Stanley and Michelle, you are the winning team.
38:48You are the winner of this challenge.
38:50It's awesome.
38:51You are also the winner of $10,000 and an HP Envy X2.
39:04Pretty cool.
39:05Stanley and Michelle, you're both in.
39:07You can leave the runway.
39:10I won.
39:11Pretty freaking awesome.
39:12I'm doing my happy dance right now.
39:15Holy smokes.
39:16Way to go, babe.
39:17I don't know what to do.
39:19Stanley won.
39:20Super excited.
39:22Overjoyed.
39:23Proud.
39:30Patricia and Richard, you are the losing team.
39:35Daniel, Liana, you're both in.
39:37You can leave the runway.
39:43Patricia and Richard, we did not see any cohesion with your looks.
39:48And we can tell that you did not work well together.
39:53Patricia.
39:57Sorry.
40:02Patricia.
40:06You're in.
40:07You're so cute.
40:09You're so cute.
40:11That's great.
40:12You're cool.
40:13You can leave the runway.
40:14I'm sorry, Richard.
40:15That means you're out.
40:17It's been such an amazing journey.
40:19I'm sorry, Richard. That means you're out.
40:23Thank you. It's been such an amazing journey.
40:26Auf Wiedersehen.
40:28Take care.
40:32Being eliminated from the show so close to being able to show off Fashion Week definitely hurts.
40:39From the beginning, I was stumbling, and I just couldn't get it together.
40:45Oh, my God.
40:48It's okay, you guys.
40:50But I'm really happy for as far as I've gotten, and I'm proud of myself.
40:57An intense runway, yes?
40:59Yes.
41:00Very intense.
41:01Well, Richard, I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your space.
41:05Bye, Richard.
41:06To all of you, much love. It's okay, Patricia.
41:09It's okay.
41:10It took so much for me to come as far as I've done.
41:14Thank you, Mr. Gunn.
41:15Bye, Richard.
41:16I pushed myself to levels physically and creatively that I haven't done before.
41:21It changed my life for the good.
41:25Next time on Project Runway, it's time for each of you to design on your own.
41:36But you will have helpers.
41:38Recipe for disaster.
41:39We want you to create a celebrity editorial look that will run in Marie Claire.
41:45What are you doing is wrong?
41:48Oh, my God, too.
41:49You won't follow my direction.
41:50Too, just breathe me out, man.
41:52No, you turn it over.
41:54All the time.
41:55I need to stop panicking.
41:56Everyone's kind of at that point where they're going to crap.
41:59I just don't feel like it feels like a finished look.
42:02I do not think it is strong enough.
42:04It was sloppy and unfinished.
