#Renovation Resort Showdown
Transcript
00:00In case you missed it.
00:02Oh my God!
00:03So much to do.
00:04It's going to be challenging to say the least.
00:06Week one was a grueling primary bedroom and bathroom challenge.
00:10You guys are putting it in upside down?
00:13Brian and I threw a wrench into the works.
00:15The Renault Relay Race to see who cracked under the pressure.
00:19Melissa and Shannon lost the race.
00:21No!
00:22And their confidence.
00:23Maybe I shouldn't be here.
00:25But they came back and color drenched their way to victory.
00:28Melissa and Shannon!
00:30The other teams are now 0-1 and under the gun.
00:34I'm starting to regret all the choices that I've made.
00:40I'm Brian Bondler.
00:42And I'm Scott McGilvery.
00:43The Ultimate Renovation Competition is back.
00:47Four pro builder designer teams from across North America
00:50are set to battle on our biggest stage yet.
00:54Their mission?
00:55To transform four brand new vacation properties
00:58into stunning all-season resort homes in just eight weeks.
01:04The team with the best vacation home
01:06will win a game-changing prize of $100,000.
01:10And the title of Renovation Resort Champions.
01:13Welcome to Renovation Resort Showdown.
01:16The last challenge was a real tough one for me.
01:24This week, I really want to put my best foot forward.
01:28Scott and Brian, they want those wow moments.
01:31We just have to, like, amp it up a little bit more.
01:33Melissa and Shannon won that first challenge,
01:35but we did get some good comments.
01:37Our plan is to push ourselves a bit more.
01:39We've tasted the win.
01:41Now it feels like you do belong here.
01:43Well, well, well.
01:44Hello, everybody.
01:46Congratulations, teams.
01:47Your first challenge is behind you.
01:49Woo-hoo!
01:51How does it feel to have a win under your belt?
01:53We worked really hard, and it feels so good to have one.
01:56It feels so, so good.
01:57So I know for some of you,
01:59the primary bedroom challenge was maybe more of a nightmare
02:02than it was a dream,
02:03but we still have a lot of competition ahead of us.
02:06Your next challenge is the front room and the entry.
02:09These are really key spaces in a vacation rental property.
02:12Think about it as putting your best feature forward.
02:15It's always best.
02:15You want to put your best feature forward, typically,
02:18because you don't want to scare people away, right?
02:20And remember, these are four-season properties.
02:24So we want to make sure that that front entrance
02:27can accommodate all guests for all seasons.
02:30Right now, that front room, it's undefined.
02:32So you have to give it a specific function.
02:35We want to be excited and surprised.
02:37You only have one week to complete the entryway in the front room.
02:41We will be judging your work
02:42based on the functionality of the space,
02:45your creativity, and, of course,
02:47the quality of your work.
02:49And speaking of work, there's a lot to do.
02:51So are we ready?
02:52We're ready!
02:53Let's do this!
02:54Come on!
02:54Let's go!
02:55Let's go!
02:55Come on!
02:59So I'm thinking, let's make it like an adult lounge.
03:04Chic and opulent.
03:06Hotel living and a rental property.
03:08Yes.
03:09As adults, you want to make sure
03:10that the kids have an amazing vacation.
03:12You also want to have a vacation for yourself.
03:15So we're providing that experience for the adults as well.
03:18In the entry, I would love to make it feel more expansive
03:21by removing those closet walls.
03:23Let's add some seating, geometric wallpaper,
03:26some matching upholstery,
03:28and an umbrella stand for those rainy days.
03:30In the front room, I want it to feel private.
03:33So let's replace that knee wall with glass French doors.
03:36And to enhance the lounge feel,
03:38there will be grass cloth wallpaper,
03:41swivel chairs, a drink cabinet,
03:42and a gorgeous chandelier.
03:45Take this.
03:46Yeah.
03:46And hit this stud.
03:47Uh-huh.
03:48As hard as you can.
03:49Removing a closet is a big risk
03:51because we're getting rid of storage.
03:53But I think it's going to be worth it
03:54because it's going to make the entry feel very expansive.
03:57Think about it like it's me
03:59Uh-huh.
03:59Sitting on the couch,
04:00Uh-huh.
04:01Watching football,
04:02asking you for something from the kitchen.
04:03I've always been a jokester.
04:04I've always been a fun guy.
04:07All right, hold up.
04:08I first learned when I was about 12
04:10that I was funny.
04:11That was that middle school time.
04:14I mean, kids bust on you, right?
04:15So you had one of three options.
04:18You had to fight,
04:19clambered in a corner,
04:20or you found a non-physical way to fight back.
04:24Joking was a defense mechanism
04:26to get people off of you, right?
04:28To not fight
04:29and to not find yourself
04:31in dangerous or bad situations.
04:34There you go, babe.
04:35Tell them you're not just a pretty face.
04:36I'm not.
04:38So just kind of tell me
04:39what you think we need to do in here.
04:40I feel like an arch.
04:41A regular, an arch.
04:43I would love to color drench everything you see.
04:46Absolutely, we can do that.
04:47We can do that?
04:48Okay.
04:48In the front room,
04:49we want it to be a private conversation
04:51and creative space.
04:53So we'll add open shelves,
04:55a gallery wall,
04:56and an entryway arch.
04:58In the entry,
04:59we'll mirror that same arch.
05:00We'll add a built-in storage bench
05:03and a neon sign that says
05:05this must be the place
05:06because we want our guests
05:08to feel like they have arrived
05:09at the right place
05:11at the right time.
05:12You like it?
05:13I like it.
05:13You like it enough to do it in a week?
05:14Yes!
05:15Yeah!
05:16Let's go!
05:19This space here
05:20is the first impression.
05:22Yep, it is.
05:22It has to wow them.
05:24This challenge,
05:24I think we should turn it up a notch.
05:26I want to make that front room
05:27like a den,
05:29like curl up,
05:29read a book,
05:30just feel like a warm hug.
05:32Somewhere you come at the end of the day
05:34when you just want to be alone for a second,
05:35I mean,
05:35there's a lot of space.
05:36Like when dads want to get away
05:37from their daughters?
05:38Yeah, that kind of space.
05:39For the entry,
05:40we'll do a herringbone tile on the floor
05:42to draw the eye through the house.
05:44Let's lose this closet
05:46and build a smaller one
05:47so we can add a custom bench
05:49and a shelf
05:49to hang coats and outdoor gear.
05:51Then,
05:52we'll make the front room private
05:53by adding doors.
05:54We'll turn the space into a den
05:56with a beam on the ceiling,
05:57custom bookcases,
05:59a window bench,
05:59and blue walls.
06:02Oh, good.
06:02You started on the wall.
06:03I started.
06:04I know it may seem like
06:05the wrong move with all this light,
06:07but when you see this space,
06:08I think everyone will think otherwise.
06:10I think it's old.
06:10It's definitely a risk
06:12because Scott and Brian
06:13are very meticulous.
06:14They are looking
06:15at every single detail.
06:16100%.
06:17Last week was a challenge.
06:19Going into this week,
06:20we really want to impress them.
06:22I know that there's been talk
06:23of my design being safe
06:25or comfortable.
06:26I don't necessarily agree
06:27because I don't think
06:28safe means boring.
06:30Having it be comfortable,
06:31I think that's the goal.
06:33I can handle this.
06:34You get back to work.
06:35Right.
06:35Okay.
06:36See ya.
06:38Okay.
06:38So, what are we doing here?
06:40I don't know.
06:40You're the boss.
06:41I'm the boss.
06:42I'm excited about this front room.
06:44It's the first thing
06:45that you're going to see
06:45when you come in the house.
06:47Through to the kitchen,
06:48I would love to open this wall up.
06:50I want to see the river.
06:52Like, I want to come into the house
06:53and I want direct shot to the water.
06:57Hopefully it works with the layout
06:58because, you know,
06:59we're doing this in the second challenge,
07:01but we don't know
07:02how that's going to affect
07:03the kitchen down the line.
07:05So it's a risk.
07:06Yeah.
07:06I want to do a tea room.
07:08Every year for my sister and I's birthdays,
07:11we're born in the same month in May.
07:13My mom would take us to a hotel downtown
07:15and they had a beautiful tea courtyard outside.
07:18And we'd go have tea with her
07:19and that was our tradition.
07:21My mom growing up was an art teacher.
07:23So as a kid,
07:25my parents always encouraged us to be creative.
07:28I think that that's definitely shaped
07:29like what I am now.
07:30It just brings back memories
07:31of like us being girlies together.
07:35In the entry,
07:36let's remove the closet walls
07:37for bench seating,
07:38a shelf and hooks.
07:39We'll do checkerboard tiles throughout.
07:42I want to open up the wall
07:43to connect the front room to the kitchen.
07:45Then for a cozy English tea room vibe,
07:47we'll do wainscoting,
07:48a coffee bar with shelving for cups
07:50and a round table with a window bench.
07:53We'll complete the room.
07:54Right there?
07:54Yeah.
07:55Right there?
07:55Let's do it.
07:56We're ready?
07:57Okay.
07:57We're ready, babe.
07:59We want to make sure
07:59that when you're in that tea room
08:01that the view is amazing
08:03from all the other rooms
08:04and they all have to be tied in together
08:06design-wise and style-wise.
08:08What do you think?
08:09River view?
08:10Love it.
08:13One of the big advantages
08:14of this property is its location.
08:15It's a four-season playground here.
08:17We've got skiing, trails,
08:19we've got the water, fishing, boating.
08:21I can see people coming here
08:23to do all kinds of activities
08:24and when guests arrive,
08:26that front entrance needs to accommodate them
08:28and all their gear.
08:28And it means walking into the home
08:30with wet feet, dry feet, muddy feet,
08:32snowy feet, big feet, small feet.
08:34It'll be quite the feet.
08:36Hey, Melissa.
08:37Can you come here for a minute?
08:39Shannon and I both love arches.
08:41They're just, like, more interesting
08:42than your average door frame.
08:44They hug you when you walk in.
08:45What's up?
08:46Okay.
08:46Look up!
08:47So this is going to be your archway
08:49and I'm going to basically just put the arch.
08:52It's going to basically come like this.
08:53I have a bit of a concern.
08:55I love your stature.
08:57It's such a little...
08:58Are you going to tell me it's too short?
09:00Yeah.
09:00It's a little bit short.
09:02I will start your arch
09:03as high as a normal door would start.
09:15It looks so good!
09:16I know.
09:17I love the piano.
09:20You've got the size right there.
09:22I want privacy in the front room.
09:25This is the adult lounge.
09:26So I'm going to close the front entry
09:28with a glass door.
09:34This is not going to work.
09:37What's going on?
09:39I f***ed up.
09:43This is not a sprint.
09:44It is a marathon.
09:46There's definitely no room
09:47for any of the teams to sit back
09:49and assume that they're going to win
09:51this entire competition.
09:52You have to take this entire door jam down.
09:55Yes.
09:55I feel like we just
09:56we're running out of time here.
10:08You get back to work.
10:09All right.
10:09So you see down here?
10:11Moving a little bit too fast.
10:12I didn't take into consideration
10:13the height of the floors.
10:15So I'm going to have to bring
10:16this whole door jam down
10:18in order to meet the floor
10:19once we get it installed.
10:21Did you just say you have to take
10:22this entire door jam down?
10:24Yes.
10:24I didn't account for the floor
10:26going in.
10:27So I have to move it up,
10:28shim it,
10:29and then put the jam back in.
10:31I feel like we just
10:31don't have a lot of time.
10:33We're running out of time here.
10:38Okay.
10:38Is that what's centered
10:39to the arch and everything?
10:40Oh my gosh.
10:41It looks cool.
10:42This week is all about
10:43best features
10:44because when you arrive
10:45as a guest to a vacation property
10:46in a very short period of time,
10:48you're going to decide
10:49whether or not
10:49this is a good experience.
10:51Oh my gosh.
10:52Why don't you walk
10:52into the house
10:53and be like,
10:53this does not look
10:55like my house at home.
10:56Let's just get it.
10:56Ready?
10:57Ah!
10:58It's a vibe.
10:59And for me,
11:00I'm already thinking
11:00of all the different things
11:01that this front room could be.
11:03It could be an office.
11:04It could be a bedroom.
11:05It could be a nursery.
11:06It could...
11:07What's on your mind?
11:09Are you going to have a fifth?
11:10Oh God, no.
11:11I hope the father's wealthy though.
11:15Wow, it looks beautiful.
11:17It's going to get a lot of traffic
11:18in a lot of different seasons
11:19so it's got to stand up to that.
11:21And it's timeless too.
11:22It's got that nostalgic feel to it,
11:24doesn't it?
11:25The inspiration for our vacation home
11:27is a rug that my granny hooked.
11:30It's this beautiful piece
11:31that's in my grandfather's house right now.
11:34You guys had a very close bond
11:35and we spent a lot of time with them.
11:37Oh yeah, like every summer
11:39I'd be at their house.
11:40Yeah.
11:40And I feel like I didn't have
11:42as much of my life with her
11:43as I would have wanted.
11:44I think it's just an honor
11:45to have this experience
11:46so I can do something
11:48to honor her memory.
11:50The memory I wanted you to have
11:51was to have the rug here.
11:56Oh, stop.
11:59What?
12:06I just thought it would be nice
12:07for you to have it here.
12:08Be close to her.
12:09You couldn't make you.
12:10You couldn't make her prouder.
12:16Take this dock up a notch.
12:18When you go on holiday,
12:19you want to be impressed.
12:20You want to have
12:21an elevated design experience.
12:24So while the competitors
12:25focus on the houses,
12:26I'm in.
12:27Brian and I are here
12:28to add value
12:29to the shared spaces,
12:30making this an incredible place
12:31for all the guests.
12:32It's amazing what you can do
12:35in 20 minutes
12:35if we actually just work together.
12:37I know.
12:38It's not one of our best features,
12:40cooperating.
12:40What do you think
12:41your best feature is?
12:42I think mine is kindness.
12:44Then my best feature
12:45is going to be honesty?
12:46Say something nice about me.
12:48Oh, it's going to be tough.
12:50Should we time lapse this?
12:51Yeah.
12:51I come bearing gifts.
12:54You've got to be careful
12:55installing things on the dock.
12:57I mean, you remember
12:57what happened last time.
12:58You tripped and fell.
12:59Here, let me have a look.
13:00No!
13:04You'll pay for this, Bombler.
13:06My phone was in my pocket.
13:08There's no screws
13:08on the back of that bracket.
13:10You!
13:13Oh, payback's difficult, isn't it?
13:17We'll see you later.
13:21Is this upside down?
13:28Is there upside down?
13:31What do you think of that?
13:32You have to alternate colors, right?
13:35Uh, colors?
13:36There's a gray
13:37and there's an off-white.
13:38I thought they were all the same.
13:39No.
13:40I'm colorblind.
13:41Go get them.
13:43This is a little darker
13:45than that one, by the way.
13:46No, I know that.
13:46So we want to get a good pop on here.
13:49Sand it between coats.
13:50Yeah, just to bring it up
13:51a little bit, right?
13:52Well, look what it is.
13:52Oh!
13:53The boys are here.
13:54So what is it you're working on, exactly?
13:55There's a lot of building
13:56going on in there.
13:57It looks like you've mitered these
13:58like you're into a box
13:59or something.
14:00Yeah, this is the beam
14:01along the ceiling.
14:01We're trying to create
14:02like a faux beam.
14:03You know, when you hit it
14:04with a lot of glue,
14:04you can diminish the use
14:06of fasteners
14:07so that they don't shine, right?
14:08That's the goal
14:09in building these things.
14:10Now, mitering plywood
14:12like this, good one side,
14:14when you glue it,
14:14if your joints aren't perfect,
14:16they're going to be very visible.
14:17Yeah.
14:17So that you're setting challenges
14:20for yourself
14:21that we're going to look at
14:23based on your previous work
14:24and we're going to hold you
14:25to a higher standard.
14:26Holly and Graham have
14:27a really wonderful,
14:29comfortable style,
14:30but very ambitious plans.
14:32Yeah.
14:32We got a lot,
14:33but I think it's going
14:34to be worth it in the end.
14:36Should it be over?
14:38Ding dong.
14:38I think so.
14:39Hello?
14:39Hi!
14:40Hello!
14:40We got some work
14:42happening in here.
14:43Yeah, man.
14:44It's called redemption.
14:45Redemption.
14:46I smell redemption.
14:47You smell redemption in here.
14:49It's always an anxious feeling
14:50when they come
14:51because you don't know
14:51what they're looking for,
14:53good, bad.
14:55Is that how it feels
14:56after last week?
14:57Do you need to redeem yourself?
14:58Definitely.
14:59I feel like that headboard
15:00wasn't a true representation
15:01of my work.
15:02Did that hurt
15:03a little bit last week?
15:04Yeah.
15:04I mean,
15:05everybody's got to bring
15:05their A game,
15:06so we're happy to be here,
15:08but that's not enough.
15:09Yeah.
15:09We didn't come all the way
15:10out here to just be here.
15:12So we want this flex space
15:13to be what we're calling
15:15the adult lounge.
15:16Oh.
15:17When you're on vacation
15:17with the kids,
15:19when they're down
15:20for the night,
15:21it's our chance
15:22to, like, reconnect.
15:23We work together, right,
15:24every single day,
15:26working together.
15:26What's that like?
15:27Oh, boy.
15:29I have no idea, right?
15:31I think you guys understand.
15:32Yeah.
15:33So this is a space
15:34for the adults
15:34to unwind
15:35at the end of the day.
15:37This room is mysterious.
15:39It's supposed
15:39to be an adult room.
15:41Oh, what's happening
15:42in there?
15:42I'm not sure
15:43what is happening
15:43in here yet,
15:44but I am excited
15:45to see how it turns out.
15:52This is not a sprint.
15:53It is a marathon.
15:54How's it going,
15:55big daddy?
15:55Good.
15:56There is a lot
15:57of house ahead
15:58of all of these competitors.
16:00There's definitely
16:00no room for any
16:01of the teams
16:02to sit back
16:03and assume
16:04that they're going
16:05to win
16:05this entire competition.
16:06Wait, which way
16:07does it go?
16:08All four of them
16:09have to bring
16:10their A-game
16:11every week.
16:12That looks good.
16:12Right?
16:13Yeah.
16:14And then you grow it up to it.
16:15Uh-oh.
16:15Uh-oh.
16:16Oh, come on.
16:17Doorbell!
16:18This is the last thing
16:19we need.
16:19Oh, the box again.
16:21What's in here?
16:22Who's in here?
16:23Who's in here?
16:24Oh, boy.
16:25Another note.
16:26We had some ideas
16:27about what features
16:28make a space
16:29more inviting.
16:30So it's time
16:30for you to show us
16:31your best.
16:31Meet us by the flagpole
16:33to learn
16:33about your next
16:34bonus film.
16:35Oh, my gosh.
16:36It's that again.
16:37This is the last thing
16:38we need right now.
16:39We don't need anything else
16:40added to the list
16:40of stuff we already
16:41have to accomplish.
16:42I want to do
16:43my best work possible,
16:44but there's no room
16:45for error.
16:46Everything we thought
16:47we were doing
16:47is about to change.
16:53How's it going,
16:54big daddy?
16:54Good.
16:56Wait, which way
16:57does it go?
16:57And then you grow it
16:58up to it?
16:59Uh-oh.
16:59Uh-oh.
17:00Oh, come on.
17:01Doorbell!
17:01This is the last thing
17:02we need.
17:03Oh, the box again.
17:05What's in here?
17:06Who's in here?
17:07Who's in here?
17:08Oh, boy.
17:08Another note.
17:10We had some ideas
17:11about what features
17:12make a space
17:13more inviting.
17:13So it's time
17:14for you to show
17:14us your best.
17:15Meet us by the flagpole
17:16to learn about
17:17your next bonus film.
17:18Oh, my gosh.
17:20Not again.
17:20This is the last thing
17:22we need right now.
17:22We don't need anything
17:23else added to the list
17:24of stuff we already
17:25have to accomplish.
17:26Everything we thought
17:27we were doing
17:27is about to change.
17:29Hello, team.
17:30Oh, there you are.
17:31Welcome back.
17:32As if you don't have
17:33enough work to do
17:34at the moment,
17:34it is time to enter
17:35the fray
17:36with the next bonus build.
17:38Listen, this bonus build
17:39is more work,
17:40but it is going
17:41to add more value.
17:42So for this week's
17:43bonus build,
17:44we're looking for
17:44a feature wall
17:45in your front room.
17:46Something that
17:47when guests are
17:48searching online
17:48for a property,
17:49this is going to
17:50have them favorite it,
17:51save it, and like it.
17:52How do you like
17:53the sound of that?
17:54We get more time?
17:55Absolutely not.
17:58Not.
17:58Oh.
17:59Do you hear something?
18:00I think I hear
18:01the clock ticking.
18:02Go get back to work.
18:05I'm sorry, what?
18:06Out of the four walls,
18:0725% of them
18:08have to wow you
18:09like in a whole different
18:10way that we didn't plan for.
18:11What in the world?
18:12Like we have no time
18:13to do any of this.
18:15Whew.
18:16It's not a very big room.
18:17You know, we built
18:18this big, beautiful wall,
18:20right?
18:20We've got these doors here.
18:22Like what if we make
18:22this wall the feature wall?
18:24Just this big,
18:25beautiful wall
18:26filled with books.
18:27All the bookcases
18:28you were already building,
18:29let's just do a bunch more.
18:31Make that whole wall
18:33a library.
18:34Is there like a bus
18:34out of here
18:35that I can leave from?
18:36The workload
18:37has now tripled.
18:39I want to talk
18:40about the feature wall.
18:41Do I need to be nervous?
18:42Yes.
18:43So I want to create
18:44a lattice pattern
18:45out of trim
18:47to kind of accentuate
18:48the purpose of the room,
18:49which is a tea room.
18:50I want to use
18:51some of the pattern
18:51and plates I've collected
18:53and display them as well.
18:55I think we have to
18:55mark it on the wall
18:56because if those things
18:58look not equally spaced,
18:59it's going to look terrible.
19:01Yeah.
19:01Let's see what
19:02Cammie and Chris
19:03are up to.
19:04Hi.
19:04Oh, hello there.
19:05So happy to see you.
19:06We are definitely here
19:07and Scott and Brian
19:08in our heads
19:09when we're building
19:09and we're designing things.
19:10What the heck
19:11is happening here?
19:12Where did the wall go?
19:13Yeah, lots of big changes.
19:14We made a hole
19:16in this wall.
19:16So that's something
19:17that is going to be
19:18an extension of the kitchen.
19:19Coffee slash tea bar.
19:20Yeah.
19:20I was going to say,
19:21where's the tea bar?
19:22So what is the big feature
19:24in here that when people
19:24walk in,
19:25they're going to go,
19:26I've arrived.
19:27So the theme of this room
19:28is a tea room
19:29to go with that
19:30English cottage vibe.
19:31So I want it to be
19:32like a four season
19:33courtyard that you can
19:34hang out in.
19:34That's exciting.
19:35A lattice on this
19:36large wall that we have.
19:38And I want to have
19:39some vines
19:40and some flowers
19:40growing on it.
19:41And how far along
19:42are you with all this work?
19:43Not very much.
19:44You only have a week
19:46to do this, right?
19:47Right.
19:48I'll tell you
19:48that I'm surprised.
19:50What you're trying
19:51is going to be
19:52very different.
19:53Yeah.
19:53I honestly am still
19:54struggling to see
19:55how in the future
19:56you're going to connect
19:57the kitchen to this room.
19:59I'm nervous about it.
20:00If you haven't planned
20:01properly and you can't
20:02get your kitchen
20:02to work around this,
20:03this is going to hurt
20:04you in the long run.
20:05Yeah.
20:07So we already have
20:08wallpaper on this wall,
20:09right?
20:10Right.
20:10So you don't think
20:11that's enough?
20:12In this space,
20:13the ceilings are going
20:14like this.
20:15Why don't we draw
20:16the eye up with
20:17our feature wall
20:18is the ceiling?
20:20I don't think anyone else
20:21is thinking about
20:22the ceiling when it
20:23comes to a feature wall.
20:24I will agree with that.
20:25Fluted panels,
20:27faux wood beams,
20:29somehow together
20:30on this beautiful ceiling.
20:31Let's make some opulence.
20:35After this,
20:37I'm going to need
20:37an opulent massage.
20:40So the shelves originally
20:41were going to be
20:42a series of open shelves
20:43just kind of attached
20:44to the wall
20:45and now we're changing it up.
20:47I want to do
20:48floor to ceiling bookshelves
20:50from start to finish,
20:51one end to the other.
20:52Awesome.
20:52But because of timing,
20:54we have to do prefab shelves.
20:55Okay.
20:56Yeah, we can definitely
20:57cover them in some way.
20:58We can put something
20:58over the top of them.
20:59Okay.
20:59I think what would be
21:00really cool is if I could
21:01bring in the arch
21:02from the entry.
21:03I can cut arches
21:04and actually lay them
21:05over the bookshelves
21:05so then, you know,
21:06you'll kind of see that
21:07as one big piece.
21:08Okay, I love that.
21:08In every bookshelf.
21:09I feel really confident
21:11with this bonus build
21:12because I get to work
21:13with something
21:14that is in my wheelhouse.
21:16Where I don't shine
21:17is doing that under pressure
21:18and lack of time.
21:19Not a good feeling.
21:28Just a couple more.
21:29We're under a tremendous
21:32time crunch.
21:33Like, can you see
21:34the upper lip sweat
21:35beating over here?
21:36Knock, knock.
21:37Hello, hello.
21:38Hey, guys.
21:39We love that Scott and Brian
21:40just stopped in on this.
21:41Yeah, we love it.
21:42Okay, what happened?
21:44What happened last week?
21:45Big win.
21:46Scott and Brian
21:47are hard to read.
21:48I was scared,
21:49but that's par for the course.
21:50As the winners
21:50of last week's challenge,
21:51you get a sneak peek
21:53to see inside
21:53one team's completed
21:54primary bedroom and bathroom.
21:56And it's going to happen
21:57right now.
21:58Oh, okay.
21:59I feel 50% nerves
22:01and 50% excitement.
22:03I don't really know
22:04which way this is going to go.
22:05I think that we're so different
22:07from the other teams, right?
22:09There's a light and airy.
22:11There's a soft.
22:11I heard words like cottage.
22:13I heard.
22:14And so, well, I love that
22:15and it's beautiful.
22:16It's so far from where we are.
22:18Rashid and Jake,
22:18I heard opulent.
22:20I heard moody, right?
22:21Final answer.
22:22Rashid and Jake?
22:23Yeah.
22:23Go ahead and hit the play button.
22:26I'm like, go ahead.
22:28Oh, that's beautiful.
22:29Oh, dang.
22:30That is pretty sexy.
22:32Oh, man.
22:32They are stepping it
22:34all the way up.
22:35I knew they would.
22:36I didn't doubt it.
22:37Oh, wow.
22:38Beautiful.
22:39That is like hotel zen.
22:40I mean, I'm not going to lie.
22:42Slow clap.
22:42I would date that room.
22:44It feels great
22:45to have this extra information.
22:47Yes.
22:47But it's also easier
22:48to get into your head,
22:49don't you think?
22:49Was that helpful
22:50or was that hurtful?
22:51Time will tell.
22:52Yeah.
22:55This looks good, Jake.
22:56Like, really good.
22:57I'm just glad
22:58it is Sheena approved.
22:59It is.
23:00I come to design
23:01as a second career.
23:03My first career
23:05was in marketing.
23:06I did that for 15 years
23:08and it was a great career.
23:10Like, mid-30s,
23:11I hit this wall
23:12and I was like,
23:13something's missing.
23:14Fast forward,
23:15we're at a point
23:16where we're ready
23:16to move into a new house.
23:18It was a tough market
23:19at the time
23:19and we were told
23:20that staging our house
23:21would help to sell it.
23:22But we didn't have the money.
23:24So I did some online research.
23:26I was like,
23:26what is this staging thing?
23:28So I depersonalized, decluttered.
23:30House went on the market.
23:31The first person
23:32that saw it
23:33three hours later
23:34bought it.
23:35For me,
23:35that's when the light bulb went off.
23:37This is what I'm supposed to do.
23:40Mmm, you smell good.
23:41Oh, thank you.
23:42We've got to get
23:44these backings cut.
23:45These are the backings
23:46for all these bookcases
23:47that you decided to build.
23:49Yeah.
23:50We've got to get them cut,
23:50primed, painted,
23:51and into the room
23:52and assembled.
23:53All right, let's get going.
23:54My focus now
23:54has to be on these bookcases,
23:56but now the time crunch
23:58comes into play.
23:59So I want to do
24:01my best work possible,
24:02but there's no room for error.
24:03There's no opportunity to repair.
24:06I'm feeling the pressure
24:08of building all these bookcases,
24:10which are now a library.
24:11with absolutely
24:13zero time to do it.
24:14I don't like to settle,
24:15and we want to make sure
24:16that the job is perfect
24:17when we're done with it.
24:18You know what's hitting
24:19the plywood one sec?
24:20And this doesn't feel
24:21like it's going to end that way.
24:27I got these all primed and painted.
24:29This is for the lattice.
24:30Okay.
24:30Okay, so I've got
24:31about ten of these.
24:32I want to figure out
24:33how we're going to do that pattern,
24:34and then I want to use
24:35these flowers and vines
24:36to create that garden feel.
24:38I love the concept
24:39of the feature wall
24:39that Kimi's come up with.
24:41My only issue
24:42is the geometry of it.
24:43There's a lot of
24:44converging angles.
24:46Mm-hmm.
24:47This is centered right here,
24:48essentially.
24:49That's 90.
24:51This is 180.
24:52Okay, so I want, like, this.
24:54No way, dude.
24:55I want to keep the geometry
24:56simple enough
24:58so we can do this
24:58within a reasonable amount of time.
24:59That's why I'm saying
25:00just mark it
25:01and then have it go like that,
25:03and then you'll realize
25:04what the angle is,
25:05and you could cut it
25:05at that angle.
25:06I'm just not confident
25:07in those angles.
25:09I'm not confident in that.
25:10I'm not understanding
25:10why it's harder
25:11to do that angle.
25:12I just...
25:13Because I just feel like
25:13once you set it,
25:14you're good.
25:15No way.
25:15What do you mean, no way?
25:16I'm not cutting 56
25:18and 60-degree angles.
25:19But once you have
25:20your chops set,
25:21it's always the same cut.
25:22Do you know what I mean?
25:23I do know it.
25:24I know what you mean.
25:24Do you know what I mean?
25:25Like, is the juice
25:26worth the squeeze?
25:27Like, we're fighting
25:27over millimeters here.
25:30When I know exactly
25:32what I want in an aesthetic,
25:33I'm not going to change my mind.
25:34Sounds more complicated
25:35the way you want to do it.
25:41If we had all the time
25:42in the world
25:43and I could teach myself
25:44how to do this,
25:44let's go for it.
25:45But we are burning daylight here
25:47and I'm stressed about
25:48what we have to do
25:49and all the other stuff
25:50we have to do
25:50outside of this.
25:51Do you know what I mean?
25:52Like, you dream it up.
25:53I'm the one that has to execute.
25:54There's no other option here.
25:56It has to be perfect
25:57or not at all.
25:58Just do it however
25:59you want to do it
26:00because you're giving me
26:01a headache.
26:02I don't know.
26:03I'm giving you a headache?
26:04Yeah.
26:09I'm just freaking out
26:11because we haven't
26:11touched paint yet.
26:13I'm just like,
26:13I'm thinking out of paint
26:14and it's got to be dry
26:15enough for me to style
26:16the walls and all the shelves.
26:19Freak out!
26:21I got to get my nails
26:22in the ceiling.
26:23If the main beam isn't right,
26:24then none of the beams
26:25are going to be right.
26:26I feel like we're all so
26:27go, go, go, go.
26:29So I just feel like
26:29this front room
26:30is going to encourage
26:31relaxation.
26:32Right.
26:33So that's for the guests,
26:34though.
26:34We're go, go, go.
26:35All right.
26:36I'm going.
26:36I'm going, Jake.
26:37I'm going.
26:38Here, I'm stronger
26:40with the hands.
26:41No, you're not.
26:42I don't have patience
26:43for you at the moment.
26:45I'm feeling pretty defeated.
26:46I really wanted this space
26:48to be beautiful and perfect.
26:50It's making me nervous.
26:52Mm-hmm.
26:52I feel that, too.
26:53I feel like I've given you
26:56too big of a task
26:57to get done
26:58in the time
26:59that we've been given,
27:00and I'm feeling
27:01pretty frustrated.
27:04Books.
27:04I need books.
27:05Books, like a lot of books.
27:06Yeah, at least a handful
27:06of books.
27:07Okay.
27:07I'm just running around
27:08trying to remember
27:08where we're putting stuff down.
27:10This is it.
27:11Final hour, competitors.
27:13Oh, my God.
27:14If something goes wrong,
27:16we just have to accept it
27:17and move on.
27:18How we look.
27:19Which is very hard.
27:21Okay, teams,
27:22you've got 10,
27:239,
27:248,
27:247,
27:266,
27:265,
27:284,
27:283,
27:292,
27:30and 1.
27:31Put down your tools,
27:32and we'll see you
27:33at the fire pit.
27:34Woo!
27:35Amazing.
27:35I love this room.
27:36Looks awesome.
27:37Woo!
27:38This is about to
27:38pour me a glass.
27:41All righty.
27:43I really feel like
27:44this is such a huge risk
27:46judges said feature wall,
27:48and we're doing the ceiling.
27:49But any way you slice it,
27:50I think it looks amazing.
27:51I think the bonus build
27:52is going to be
27:52one of the top
27:53judging criteria.
27:54If that looks amazing,
27:55like, we could win it
27:56almost solely on that.
27:57I'm starting to regret
27:58all of everything,
28:00all the choices
28:00that I've made.
28:01Yeah, there's a lot
28:02of pressure.
28:03Hello!
28:04Hey, Graham.
28:05How are you?
28:05It's good to see everybody.
28:07Hi, guys.
28:07Shannon.
28:08The mission was
28:09to complete that front entry
28:10and that front room.
28:12And this week,
28:13as always,
28:14Scott and I brought in
28:15a very special guest judge
28:16to help us evaluate
28:17your spaces.
28:18So this week,
28:19our guest judge is here.
28:22He is an entrepreneur.
28:23He is a real estate agent.
28:25He is a home flipper.
28:26You've seen him
28:27on Hoarder House Flippers.
28:29Please welcome
28:30Maktar Mbaye.
28:35Good to see you, Maktar.
28:36Thanks for helping us.
28:37Bonjour, everyone.
28:39I'm really happy to be here.
28:40I'm going to be looking
28:41for the style,
28:42the vibe.
28:43The first impression
28:43can make a guest
28:45want to stay or leave.
28:46But we're going to pay
28:47special attention
28:48to the bonus build,
28:49which is your feature wall
28:50and how it accentuates
28:51that space.
28:52You ready?
28:53Ready.
28:53Let's go.
28:55Welcome
28:56to the Heritage Homestead.
28:58Okay.
28:59Okay.
29:00Whoa.
29:01Oh, hey now.
29:02Darker colors.
29:03It's warm.
29:04It's got that Heritage vibe.
29:06I like the herringbone pattern
29:08on the floor.
29:09Yeah.
29:09I do like that gray
29:10kind of leathered stone there.
29:12It's just enough area
29:13to get in here,
29:14leave your boots,
29:15makes it easy for cleaning.
29:16My first impression
29:17when I'm walking
29:18is it's minimal,
29:19but it's functional.
29:21I am noticing
29:21in the frame over here,
29:23Holly's Nana made a rug,
29:24which was part of the inspiration
29:25for the entire design thing.
29:27The question is,
29:28do you think that this space
29:29is well reflected by that?
29:31A little bit of color missing,
29:32I feel.
29:32Yeah.
29:34Oh.
29:35I was not expecting this.
29:38No.
29:38This space is really cozy.
29:40I could see myself here
29:41with a blanket,
29:42reading a book.
29:44Originally,
29:44their plan for this room
29:45was to be a study,
29:46and then with the bonus build,
29:47they decided to create
29:49the feature wall
29:49and turn it into more
29:50of a library.
29:51Do you really think
29:52that's the feature wall?
29:53Because if it was the feature wall,
29:55I would use that one,
29:56because when you're walking,
29:57you can notice it,
29:58but now you have to turn around.
30:00So for the wall effect
30:01and the first impression,
30:02it's hard.
30:04This looks fantastic.
30:06It looks clean
30:06and modern and straight.
30:07The carpentry looks great.
30:08But when I go from that
30:10to the shelves,
30:11I think if you're going
30:12to build custom shelves,
30:15you have to be very careful
30:16on how you do it.
30:18I think they aimed
30:19very high here.
30:19They were very ambitious,
30:21and I think it cost them
30:22a little bit.
30:23I have to give them
30:24extra credit.
30:24Having the pull-out sofa
30:25in here makes this
30:26an extra bedroom,
30:27increases capacity.
30:28That's a nice added touch.
30:29Holly and Graham
30:30more than doubled
30:31their investment
30:32from last week
30:33with a $27,000 spend.
30:35They now have about
30:36$112,000 left
30:38to navigate the rest
30:40of the renovation.
30:41All right,
30:41let's see what else we have.
30:43So this is Melissa and Shannon.
30:45Let's see how they did this week.
30:47Oh!
30:48Whoa!
30:52So this is Melissa and Shannon.
30:54Let's see how they did this week.
30:56Oh!
30:57So this must be the place!
31:00This will be the photo.
31:02That's got some energy to it.
31:06I love the arches.
31:07I like the feel
31:07when you come in here.
31:08My only concern
31:09with a closet like this,
31:10there's really nowhere
31:11to hide anything away
31:13unless...
31:14Oh, okay,
31:15we got a bunch of slides there.
31:17Smart.
31:17Cool open concept,
31:19an archway into their front room.
31:21Let's take a look.
31:22Wow.
31:22Okay.
31:23Whoa!
31:24That is a sunburst of fur.
31:27Their bonus build challenge
31:28was to create the feature wall.
31:30I feel like
31:31they've accomplished
31:31the assignment.
31:32You have storage
31:33underneath the shelves.
31:34Yeah.
31:34So that's pretty good.
31:36Now,
31:36Melissa and Shannon
31:37did use prefab cabinets.
31:39It was a great idea
31:40as far as workload
31:42for the cabinets.
31:43Mm-hmm.
31:43But the trim pieces
31:44need a little bit of work.
31:47You know what's
31:47catching my eyes?
31:48Right here.
31:49Yeah.
31:50I like it.
31:51Melissa and Shannon
31:52kept their spending
31:53impressively low
31:54investing just $15,000
31:55into this challenge.
31:57They're in great shape
31:58with $121,000 left
32:00to finish the rest
32:01of the home.
32:04All right.
32:05Oh, wow.
32:06Oh, wow.
32:07Look at this.
32:07You can't miss this wallpaper.
32:09That's got a good energy
32:10when you first come in.
32:11I love the fact
32:12that the bench
32:12is, like, seamless
32:13with the wallpaper.
32:15They decided
32:15to go fully open.
32:17There's no closet.
32:18In terms of storage,
32:20you've got a basket
32:21and some hooks.
32:22Since it's four season,
32:23I would like to see
32:24hidden storage.
32:25The wallpaper installation
32:26looks really good.
32:29Yeah, it looks great.
32:30And now this is
32:31the front room.
32:32Wow.
32:33I feel the vibe in here.
32:34The vibe.
32:35And I think that's
32:36what they're shooting for.
32:37This is an area
32:37that Rashid and Jake
32:38said they want to reconnect.
32:39They want to take some time
32:40just for the adults.
32:41And they decided
32:42to put their feature wall
32:43on the ceiling.
32:44Yeah.
32:44Compared to that headboard
32:45in the bedroom,
32:47this is spectacular.
32:48And they really nailed it.
32:50Playing into the architecture
32:51of the space,
32:52that vaulted ceiling
32:53feels even better
32:55when it's got
32:56all that slat on it
32:57and the faux beams.
32:58It's a magazine shoot in here.
33:00I like the black
33:01and gold touch.
33:02Brings that luxury feel,
33:03that adult feel
33:04that we want to have here.
33:05But it's important
33:06that we pay attention
33:06to the small details,
33:08especially when it comes
33:09to the quality.
33:10Like, I'm looking
33:10at the grass cloth.
33:12I know that's a struggle
33:13to line it up,
33:13but they could have played
33:14with it a little more
33:15so it wasn't so obvious.
33:17Very hard to pick this apart.
33:18Yeah.
33:18This is a huge scene
33:19of redemption for Jake.
33:21I'm super happy
33:22to see this.
33:23The vibe,
33:24the style,
33:25I love it.
33:25They nailed it.
33:27Rashida and Jake
33:28went big in the front room,
33:29spending over $27,400
33:31to create a real wow factor.
33:33With just over $101,000
33:36left for the rest
33:37of the reno,
33:38they'll have to make
33:39every dollar count.
33:42Camille and Chris is home.
33:45Oh.
33:48Okay.
33:49All right.
33:50Colourful.
33:51Wow.
33:52I was not expecting this.
33:54It's open.
33:55It's big.
33:56They've just left
33:57a bit of a half wall,
33:57which is actually nice.
33:58You can hang your boots
34:00and your gloves.
34:00They're thinking
34:01about all seasons.
34:02Hidden storage,
34:03you have the hooks.
34:04You even have storage on top.
34:06Quality work
34:07at first pass
34:07looks really good.
34:09It's joyful here.
34:10It's colorful.
34:11I feel like we should
34:12just continue into
34:13the team room.
34:14You feel greeted
34:15just by the space itself.
34:17You've got the coffee station,
34:18the tea station,
34:20the open concept,
34:21along with the durability
34:22of the floors,
34:23which even laid on an angle
34:24just gives it
34:25a slight elevated experience.
34:28You have that beautiful bench.
34:29This could accommodate
34:30a lot of people.
34:32Clearly,
34:32the feature wall back here
34:33is the lattice wall.
34:34They've done
34:35a little bit
34:36of fake greenery on there.
34:37I don't love it,
34:39but when you're away,
34:40it's nice to take
34:41both a physical
34:42and a mental break.
34:43I will admit
34:43this will photograph
34:44really well.
34:45Snap, snap.
34:46Here, just pose
34:47a little bit here.
34:48Are you sure you want me to...
34:48Come on, boys.
34:49Have some tea.
34:50Sit down.
34:50Have some tea.
34:52Orange pico
34:53or Earl Grey?
34:54I need the pinkies, boys.
34:55The pinkie, right?
34:57Beautiful.
34:58The fact that you pulled
35:00out your camera
35:00tells us that they nailed it.
35:02You know what?
35:03I am trying to look at
35:04the detail
35:05and make sure
35:06that the quality
35:07of the work
35:07is up there.
35:09And you know
35:10what I'm seeing?
35:11Pregnant pause.
35:12A huge improvement.
35:14Quality of work
35:15is excellent.
35:16It is excellent.
35:17I have to give it to them.
35:18Camille and Chris
35:19went all in,
35:19spending $28,000
35:21to create their
35:22English tea room.
35:23With $110,000 left,
35:25they have a healthy budget
35:26to continue their build.
35:28This is going to be
35:28very tough.
35:29Is this enough
35:30for them to win
35:31this challenge?
35:32Let's figure it out.
35:33Let's find out.
35:34At the end of the day,
35:35we do have to pick a winner.
35:36And this was not easy.
35:38The winner
35:39of Renovation Resort
35:40Front Room
35:41and Entry Challenge
35:42is...
35:42Week 2 of the showdown
35:49is in the books.
35:50Books.
35:51I need books.
35:51Books, like a lot of books?
35:52Yeah, at least
35:52a handful of books.
35:53Okay.
35:53We challenged the teams
35:55to blow the doors
35:56off the front entry
35:57and parlor,
35:58and we were not disappointed.
35:59Oh!
36:00Now, things are about
36:02to heat up
36:03at the fire pit.
36:04I have to say,
36:06after last week,
36:08we had pretty
36:08high expectations.
36:12And you exceeded
36:13our expectations.
36:15Nice one.
36:16Yeah.
36:16Right.
36:17Which, unfortunately,
36:18for us,
36:19makes it even more difficult.
36:21Holly and Graham,
36:22of all the builds,
36:23yours was the most ambitious
36:25in terms of how much work
36:26had to be done
36:27to execute it.
36:28Walking into your space,
36:29immediately,
36:30we saw the piece
36:30of tapestry there,
36:31and we could feel
36:32Grandma's presence
36:33in the entrance.
36:34Beautiful entry.
36:35You had storage,
36:36the bench,
36:37hidden storage.
36:38It was great.
36:39Going into the library,
36:41you put in the extra
36:42couch with the pull-out bed,
36:43which, from a rental perspective,
36:45heads in beds,
36:46that's more revenue here,
36:47so that's a big plus.
36:48Yeah.
36:48The bonus build
36:49was a feature wall,
36:50which you did do.
36:51However,
36:52it was the last wall
36:53that we found
36:53because you had to go in,
36:54turn around,
36:55and then figure it out.
36:56Right.
36:56You were so ambitious,
36:57you decided to custom build
36:59all of those shelves.
37:00Yeah.
37:00And with the time restrictions,
37:02I think the finish quality
37:04of some of the carpentry
37:05is what came to bite you
37:06in the end.
37:06Yeah.
37:06I think, overall,
37:08people are going to walk in
37:09and really like your property.
37:12That's nice of you to say.
37:13I appreciate that.
37:13Absolutely.
37:14Melissa and Shannon,
37:15walking into the entry,
37:16it really did feel like
37:18this was the place.
37:21Shannon and Melissa,
37:23c'était magnifique.
37:24I had to use my French.
37:26Thank you so much.
37:26Your entry,
37:27the wallpaper,
37:28stunning focal point,
37:30really beautiful.
37:31And your front room,
37:33the vibe,
37:33the color,
37:34it was beautiful.
37:35The mirror,
37:37the starburst light fixture,
37:39everything in there
37:40was just exploding.
37:41Now,
37:42you decided to go with
37:43prefab bookcases
37:44and put them into place
37:45and trim them in
37:46to look custom
37:47with the arches.
37:47Yeah.
37:48Your arches were perfect.
37:50Your connections between
37:51MDF to MDF face panels
37:52were a little rough,
37:55but that entryway,
37:56wow.
37:57Thank you very much.
37:58Good job.
37:59Jake and Rashida,
38:00walking into the front space,
38:01really important
38:02for first impressions.
38:04And I think that your front space
38:05makes a great first impression.
38:07Like walking in,
38:08the energy of the wallpaper,
38:10the matching cushion
38:11on the seat bench,
38:13it opens it up
38:14by removing that whole closet,
38:16but you still had ample space
38:17to hang things.
38:18You were the only team
38:19in the competition
38:20to use the ceiling
38:22as your feature wall.
38:24And you absolutely killed it.
38:26The amount of millwork
38:28that you did on that space
38:29between the beams
38:31and the slats.
38:32Shoulders are dead.
38:32But we really worked hard here.
38:35I really took my time
38:36and wanted to put together
38:37something that we could
38:38be proud of.
38:39Yeah.
38:39Looks like there might have been
38:40some fussing with hanging
38:41those doors.
38:42I could see a little collateral
38:43damage around some of the hinges.
38:45I'm not sure if you struggled
38:46to get them hung, but...
38:47Those are the things
38:48you want to take your time
38:48and look for.
38:50Kevin and Chris,
38:51your entry and your front room
38:52were spectacular.
38:54As soon as I walked in,
38:55I wanted to have a cup of tea.
38:56And we did.
38:57And we did.
38:58And we did.
38:58You nailed your theme
39:00because it was impossible
39:02for us to walk in
39:03and not smile immediately.
39:05It's joyful.
39:06The color out there,
39:07excellent.
39:08The fact that there's
39:09no threshold
39:10between the front room
39:11just makes it feel
39:12like it's one giant space.
39:14A ton of seating.
39:15Maktar's entire family
39:17could sit in there
39:17and drink.
39:19Scott is more of a theme lover
39:21than I am.
39:21Love the themes.
39:22That could be a risk
39:24at a property like this
39:25because when you walk in there,
39:27you better like English tea rooms.
39:29Yeah.
39:29Still pay attention
39:30to some of your choices.
39:32Your lattice work,
39:33I would have just loved
39:34to have seen
39:34a small chamfer
39:35on the top of it
39:36so that it was in nice snug.
39:38Those gaps drive me crazy.
39:40But I am really excited
39:41to see how this journey continues.
39:44But at the end of the day,
39:45we do have to pick a winner.
39:47And this was not easy.
39:48The winner of Renovation Resort
39:53Front Room and Entry Challenge
39:55is Rashida and Jake.
40:06Oh, my God.
40:08Wait, what?
40:10Oh, my God.
40:11Rashida, talk to us.
40:13We work so hard.
40:15And the competition
40:18in this room
40:20and this space
40:21but in our lives
40:22and to come from
40:24designing my bedroom
40:26as a child
40:27with milk crates
40:28from the corner store
40:29and putting sheets
40:30on the top of that
40:31to being able to design
40:33with such amazing talent
40:35on this type of stage,
40:37it just feels so unbelievable.
40:39And to do it
40:40with my best friend
40:41is, you can't beat that.
40:44So, I'm just grateful right now.
40:47My eyes are sweating.
40:49That's it.
40:50That's it.
40:51Just a little eye sweat.
40:51Everybody's eyes are sweating.
40:53We're going to celebrate
40:54this win today.
40:55Yep.
40:56Tomorrow, we're back to work.
40:59So proud of you.
41:01So, we have a winner.
41:03But this is just
41:04the second challenge of many.
41:09You're going to need some rest
41:10because there's $100,000
41:12on the line.
41:13It's time for all of you
41:15to make an exit
41:16and prepare for the next challenge.
41:19You're going to need it.
41:20I know it was a bit ambitious
41:21and I'm just upset
41:23that I set you up
41:24with a challenge
41:25that was unmeetable.
41:26I just feel like
41:27I've let you down.
41:29I can't keep it together.
41:31Next time on Renovation Resort Showdown.
41:35What is happening?
41:37Two winless teams
41:38feel the heat.
41:40There's your last
41:41two pieces of plywood.
41:42We can't screw this up.
41:43It's a lot of pressure.
41:45While Rashida and Jake
41:46take a victory lap.
41:47Oh, I could stay out here forever.
41:49A bonus build
41:50sends the teams
41:50into panic mode.
41:52That's going to be
41:52way too high for the TV.
41:54Time is not on our side
41:55right now.
41:56And Melissa colors
41:57outside the lines.
41:58This is risk.
