00:00Hello?
00:06A gun.
00:07There's someone at the door with a gun.
00:09There's somebody at the door with what?
00:11A gun.
00:12Please hurry up.
00:13Stay on the line.
00:19This is an authorized firearms deployment.
00:21If engaged you are to neutralize the threat.
00:23Minimize risk of the subject.
00:25You are to preserve life.
00:28We need help.
00:29We just want the police out here.
00:31Hello?
00:32Don't ask them, I want them.
00:33What do they want him for?
00:35Because he's pressing charges against you.
00:38They've rubbed him.
00:39They're saying if they can't get him, they're going to rape the mother.
00:42Do you know their names at all?
00:44What is it?
00:45Oh, my God.
00:46Paul Laurie.
00:48Oh, my God.
00:49Oh, my God.
00:51Oh, my God.
01:04Stay where you are!
01:05Any sudden moves?
01:06Yeah.
01:07Attempted murder.
01:08Attempted murder.
01:10Once a suspect is in custody,
01:14the police have just 24 hours to find out what really happened.
01:21The time is really ticking.
01:23Who's innocent?
01:25Who's guilty?
01:28We're good to go.
01:30This is your opportunity to talk to me.
01:33There's two sides to every single story.
01:40There's two sides to each other.
02:09A permanent dedicated unit, Operation Bossen, tackles the problem.
02:18Last night, a witness in a robbery case was threatened with a gun.
02:22The suspect named is one of Operation Bossen's most wanted offenders,
02:27who's also being investigated by the serious crime team.
02:30Saul Murray, he's been on a little bit of a rampage.
02:34He's wanted for everything, everyone in the world.
02:38Up Bossen, my robbery from Saturday.
02:41Is this the robbery in the hotel?
02:42Yeah.
02:43There's another robbery.
02:45And witness intimidation, allegedly with a firearm.
02:48So there's about three or four things that he's wanted for.
02:52Saul's a little bit more worldly-wise than a little hoodie.
02:56When he does commit offences, he goes straight to the top.
03:01DC Martin Hart has evidence he believes,
03:03shows Saul Murray has been intimidating the witness by text.
03:07How can you go on like you're bad when you run to police?
03:11You're a rat.
03:12People like you need to die.
03:16Saul's not the nicest person to get on the wrong side of, by the sounds of it.
03:19So he's gone to an address, knocked on the window with what looks like a handgun.
03:26So when they've looked out, they've seen it.
03:27And then he's popped in his waistband.
03:31So it's possibly access to a firearm?
03:34Yeah.
03:35Possibly, possibly a handgun.
03:37Yeah.
03:37The worst case scenario is it is an actual proper viable gun that he could use to hurt or kill somebody, potentially.
03:44So Saul Murray has previously served five years for firearms offences.
03:52He's been on the run for a month.
03:59I think if he doesn't want to be found, he's pretty good at hiding.
04:03But even if you're very good at hiding, you can't run forever.
04:06You know, first of all, we need to work out what we're going to do in relation to Saul Murray.
04:18He knows he's wanted.
04:20Yeah.
04:21We just need to keep on top of trying to find him.
04:23All I'm thinking is we locked 11 up yesterday.
04:25We've locked Saul Murray up as well.
04:27The best way of stopping all this is lock him up.
04:31When I join the police, it would be a fight in the street with your hands.
04:36But over the past 10 years, there has been an increase in gun crime.
04:41The culture has changed and the methods within criminality have moved on.
04:49Yep.
04:51Police!
04:52Police!
04:52Police!
04:55Yeah, kitchen's secure.
04:57He's going to check down this side.
04:58If we've got firearm on the street, your first priority is the safety of others.
05:02And so, if we can get the gun off of the street in the first place, and ultimately, we would
05:07like to be able to find the person in possession of it and prosecute them and get a conviction.
05:13Police!
05:14Stay where you are!
05:16Lutineers are safer place without Saul Murray and others in possession of a firearm in the
05:20public domain.
05:22I can see where you are.
05:23Is there anybody else upstairs?
05:24Officers spot a man matching the description of Saul Murray.
05:36Keep eyeballs on the bank.
05:40They must wait for backup before attempting to arrest him.
05:43Heelph-indus 7-4.
05:55Good.
05:57WTSW-
05:57Just...
05:58Heelph-indus 7-4.
06:05Good.
06:097 o'clock.
06:13got somebody come to the front right stay where you are okay no no you stay where you are yeah
06:19any sudden moves yeah
06:27do that
06:27do that
06:35it's all isn't it yeah
06:40let me just get can i get change my stuff yeah i just want to bring up because i know what's
06:44gonna happen yeah you can bring it yeah i'm gonna hold no trouble i'm cool um be reasonable yeah
06:49everyone be reasonable no we understand yeah i know i'm gonna be reminded in custody so i
06:55need to bring my stuff with me that's all right how much are you looking to bring just a bag
07:00all right well at this time you're under arrest on suspicion of conspiracy to rob
07:04anything you do say maybe i speak to my mate as well can he come up he's allowed in here yeah
07:09not for the minute nothing i mean not while we're sorting all this out yeah i'm gonna undo one arm
07:13yeah okay i will keep hold of this okay if you play out for a second okay i will twist these and
07:19it will break your wrist you all right simon yeah great thank you very much wonderful see you soon
07:40bye bye saw murray's in yes what a result
07:50yeah very with a gun suspected to be in saw murray's possession dc martin hart needs authorization
07:58for a detailed forensic search of the property is wes hall in there really
08:09i think you know i'm coming yes i've heard a rumor basically saul murray has just been arrested at
08:15that location however bearing in mind what he is wanted for a couple of robberies and stuff like
08:21that we really want to put a proper team through do a proper search because if we miss a gun or ammunition
08:26or anything like that it's it's just not the risk that we need to take the guy that's there is chris baldwin
08:40all right we go now just wait no we're just waiting we might just have to do a search of the house
08:44okay can my mate come i just need to have a word with him what do you need to have a word with him uh about
08:56my uh my money my missus and uh what he's got to do i just want to you can sit here while the
09:01or do you want to go downstairs to the door why don't you just call out the window yeah yeah yeah yeah
09:05that's he's done better yo nothing i'm gonna go station yeah some bullshit that uh key man
09:14remember he wanted that yesterday yeah i think that'll be enough yeah
09:17that out for him yeah
09:20just sit there for us
09:25bring you a seven four ba right should we blitz it then
09:28if that gun's off the street he's not going to loan it to somebody and then
09:35some small kid's not going to get shot or he could hit an innocent member of the public
09:40be in the wrong place at the wrong time
09:45what do once we're done in this room we're just going to the other one here so we're just making
09:49sure we've just got to go through each room to be quite honest i don't think you're allowed to do that
09:56because this is my room this is where i stay i don't stay in the whole house just
10:00that other rest of the house has got nothing to do with me
10:04this is locked
10:07this is going to take forever
10:17so murray has just been arrested somewhere in linton he is wanted for a lot and there is
10:22intelligence to suggest that he has used firearms recently
10:32can i get my watch
10:36where is he
10:36it's on the bed
10:37i'll leave that with us for an elbow so then
10:39oh that's what i'm saying that's only a watch
10:43i don't know but we'll sort it out
10:46whose room is this sir
10:47this is i don't know
11:00right tell you what just sit on the floor for us that's all
11:04thank you very much yeah just sit there for us
11:06i don't understand
11:08Alfred India 7.4 VA
11:11doing section 32 we've found what appears to be a handgun do we have a
11:15ARV that can come
11:30right my colleague does have a taser okay now you've been all right with us so far
11:34obviously the stakes have been raised a bit
11:36if you do anything that you shouldn't do
11:38then my colleague has every right to use that particular tool
11:42Saul Murray one of Luton's most wanted men has been arrested in connection with two robberies
11:48and intimidating a witness with a gun
11:51during a search of the property a firearm has been recovered
11:54somebody got my gun
11:57this is the gun so what we got
11:59fear was waiting
12:05serial numbers have all been tried to be scraped off is it empty yeah it was empty
12:10um is there any identifying mark on it as in brand or anything else like that did you photograph
12:17everything yeah i've got um a copy of my photos on this if i can have a working copy because i don't know
12:21to avoid i'm just thinking to avoid taking stuff like that into interview i'd rather just i can
12:27just take photos and i don't like wandering around with guns quickly sort that out for you
12:32it is a blank firer i wouldn't want it pointed at me
12:36did any of the firearms boys say because there's a bit missing on it
12:40by looks things you see that it's
12:44over the back that'll come forward as it's armed once that's ready that pops forward oh i see
12:48yeah that pops in the end right that's the say that's the safety and then where you go um
12:56there does appear to be visible fingerprints on the magazine okay cool
13:18okay mr murray series questions i need to ask you just to allow me to do a risk assessment and go
13:25to stay in custody okay do you need any help with reading the writing a little any physical injuries
13:30at the moment any medical conditions any mental health issues you may be aware of ever tried to
13:35hurt or harm yourself how you feeling right now hello bud how you doing um just to let you know so as
13:58you're aware i probably won't be home until incredibly late tonight we've just got a guy in that i've been
14:03working on for a few days and i've got loads of work to do so i've just given you a heads up all
14:07right if mum's late there's sanya in the oven um you just need to reheat it and perhaps put a little
14:13bit of extra cheese on it all right buddy everything okay all right mate i'll see you soon take care bye
14:19you find him much more um blanks top of the wardrobe in his bedroom there's some lead in a bag so there's
14:30a lot of things in preparation but potentially if you start filing down any of the lead or anything
14:35maybe to make it airtight and get a bang depending how close you are you can still kill somebody with a
14:40brain you can still make a mess good job we've stuck you through there absolutely yeah there's a little bit
14:45same all right police want to discover if the gun made to fire blanks has been illegally adapted to
14:53shoot live ammunition this is saw's bedroom that's the tools that were in his room
15:02he likes a bit of diy that's all yeah
15:08somebody's done some serious cut and shut job on this that should really be flush
15:14against there so there's obviously something wrong with this gun so that's where it's been cut off
15:20that's where you see that that's where it's all been sawn off in his room
15:27with the lead very very crudely if you take that out and then you can melt something down and put it
15:33in the end depending on how much black powder is in there when you pull the trigger and bang it will
15:37throw it out mr murray anything else that might affect you whilst you're in custody you can think
15:44of no worries have you had a head injury in the last 24 hours and thinking about family members
15:49there's any illness that runs in the family
15:55oh
15:56my solicitor comes up will i be able to give him a watch
15:58no you look at his side in my home
15:59uh
16:00he's all right i'd really
16:01if he doesn't know if it was in a box or something it would be cool but like that
16:06do you know what i'll put it in a box don't worry i'll put i'll put in a special box for you
16:11it's just like that it's just gonna get passionate about
16:13we're gonna interview him in relation to witness intimidation possession of firearm he has committed
16:24allegedly a robbery now the witness started to get text messages from a number that end 508
16:31on my mum's life watch what happens to your mum and your bro i'm a bad man for you i'm gonna get
16:38to rape your mum if you think i'm chatting watch fam uh m3 so do you want to
16:51then a couple of days later saw murray arrive outside his mother's home there's a knock on the
16:59door they said the knock sounded metallic like a ting ting the brother looks out of the window and
17:06recognizes murray he's got a black hand gun i suspect that he will go no comment you've been
17:14idiot not to yeah top stuff cheers thank you he's not stupid by any stretch of the imagination so he's
17:22spent quite a bit of time inside he knows the way things are he'll end up playing the game
17:30before questioning him about the gun dc martin hart wants to interrogate
17:34whether the threatening text was sent by saul murray did you have or have you had 508 in your
17:41control i did not send them text messages off of that number okay to be quite honest i do not have a
17:48phone right so um whoever one with or around and maybe use their phone most of the time i use a phone box
17:58okay now we'll move on to the 17th the ip reports that three males attended his mother's home address
18:05at about 22 30 hours he and his brother have looked out of the window and observed a male with a black
18:11handgun males left when persons inside shout police have been called is there anything you want to tell
18:17me about that nothing at all okay um they go on to say that um the males have walked off out of the front
18:27garden on the street and as they walked away one of them said loudly we will be back
18:33do you know who made that comment no i don't know nothing about going to anyone's house i have not been
18:46to anyone's house it's got nothing to do with me and i didn't go there i've got to mention you have a
18:53little bit of knowledge about firearms is that not fair to mention i've got a history yeah we'll go there
19:00i can i can live with that you served five years for possession of a firearm you were arrested and
19:12that is what we found
19:20you can't kill no one with that you can't harm no one with that they are not made for shooting
19:25they are starter pistols but strangely enough they can be altered they can be adapted
19:31on the next photo can you tell me what these are blank fire blank bullets correct eight mil
19:40found in your room my room yep okay you say your bedroom's normally locked yeah also found in your
19:48room is this do you recognize that at all okay now if i told you that that's part of a barrel for a blank
19:58firearm okay and that's the bit that normally blocks it off and means that it can't fire
20:05proper bullets this has been sawn off of the gun
20:09thing is these bits and the tools for potentially altering those bits were found in your bedroom
20:23which you've told us is locked under normal circumstances you can see i have an issue
20:29can we just take a break for a moment is that is that right yeah sure cheers
20:50is that your second this is my second why is there only one piece left then there should be
21:03eight pieces i've got plenty of mine take my one honestly this is my second that means gary's had four
21:09it wouldn't surprise me where were the drugs then they were on top of blue yeah and we think it's
21:17mdma or speed that's my personal guess no no that's fine i might be completely wrong did you do the
21:26detectives are working overtime to build a case of robbery witness intimidation and possession of a
21:32viable firearm against saul murray just interviewed saul murray he gave full comment so i'm going to just
21:39about to type up what he said but effectively so as you are aware um with regards to the witness
21:45this intimidation he denies that he's ever had 508 and he didn't go on the 17th and turn up outside
21:52the address when he was arrested the gun wasn't in his bedroom it is a blank he didn't believe that
22:01the gun had been adapted and could fire a real bullet he wasn't aware that the three eight mil rounds
22:08were in his bedroom but the tools were in his room he confirms that the two bags of white powder are
22:15cocaine which is his um and that's where we are to strengthen the case against their suspect detectives
22:25want to prove he's also responsible for a violent robbery at a hotel
22:42you're all right fella do you want to ring mum is that right no you don't want to ring
22:47has that changed on when we took over they said this lad wants to ring his mum you don't want it no
22:57my mum i don't know where you got that from but i need to inform i need to get tell my partner let
23:02her get my number i ain't got her number or nothing i'm trying to get her number trying to get my stuff
23:07sorted out everything and everyone's like yeah we'll come back to you in a minute yeah yeah yeah yeah this
23:12has been like hours ago so what can i do i'm pissed off i just feel to smack someone you can put me in
23:17my cell i don't even care my intention is to interview him for the hotel robbery the allegation is that
23:30a young man called mohammed uddin and a young lady had gone back to that hotel after about half an hour
23:38there is a knock at the door mr uddin opens the door and a black male who he doesn't know comes
23:43through the door ties him up takes his bag um and takes his car keys the vehicle is a white mercedes
23:51convertible amg e-class which is worth about 40 grand
23:55yeah no worries mate see you soon bye
24:03what can you talk to me i'm just pissed off man what can i do for you to make you feel better
24:07where's i want to know where my watch is okay can you tell me let's have a look which m3 that's
24:13all right yeah yeah yeah i'm pissed off man i swear it on they're coming but let's see what i can do
24:21for you i'm here yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah what we got in there right so a load of toiletries yeah yeah
24:29yes that's all there should be on its own if it's not on its own it's not there did you ever when you
24:33came in yeah i've got a please take off a 50 pound note and a 10 pound note you know so you got your
24:38money look i'm trying to make it all all right but it's not man i'm not a big head you know i mostly
24:43ordered a new man yes there's no there's no watch on his pocket serious crunting hello
24:53what is your watch
25:03it is is it
25:09can you come in
25:12you can't have it back straight away i need it for evidence but yeah
25:17yeah just come into the front office ask for me and then i'll come down
25:24jill yeah i'm going to need you to do a statement
25:29mohammed uddin has had his watch stolen out of his car
25:33it's a hublo watch yeah is it a fake it's a fake nice um but that was found so murray had that on him
25:41yeah he was desperate to get rid of it when he came into custody
25:45bullshit man it's that best
25:48this thing is we have like a massive lock there's loads and loads of information yeah
25:51so give them a minute and then i will scroll through and i'll find it for you
25:55and if he's not there you know they won't find out have you been offered like a tear of coffee or
25:59any feed or anything i just want to get this in i want to make a phone call how hard is it this is
26:05bullshit man fuck's sake man i actually i am i will end up smacking one of you i'm not even playing
26:15you know can bend me up and all of that is cool i don't mind but that one what i give
26:19yeah but with much other you know sorts out you know phone calls and that kind of stuff yeah
26:23it's the id boy in there says he's got your watch so that's that's a good thing i suppose because
26:29you know it's not good for him no but you don't miss it mr rudin describe your watch to me it's got
26:36black belt it's bronze with uh sapphire um diamonds at the top yeah okay i'm not going to give it back to
26:43you today um i can't but what i can tell you is the person that we have in custody um had that on
26:51their wrist when we arrested them so hopefully it won't go well i mean you got your car back
26:56got your watch back what else you're missing 400 pounds i'll get that there wasn't money recovered so
27:04okay okay i don't think there ain't no problem as long as you you get a result i'm getting more and
27:10more confident okay all right
27:21yeah yeah
27:28you're on geese yo
27:35okay yeah what's going on
27:39how come
27:42do you hear what happened
27:48i ain't i ain't spoke to no one have you speak to

28:51take everything is that cool
28:55Do you want any more? Can you just let me know?
29:02Yeah, yeah, sure, thank you.
29:04Right, where's Martin Hart gone?
29:08Where's Martin Hart gone?
29:11Serious crime? Who? I understand who they are, yeah.
29:32Yeah, if he's talking about going back to the house, he's just put Pulsar through it.
29:39Right, yep, okay, I will pop that in as a bit of intel.
29:44What's he going on about that watch about?
29:50Oh, that might be me then.
29:52Yeah, thank you very much.
29:54All right then, bye.
29:58Apparently he's getting quite annoyed.
30:01Yeah, apparently he's going to bang someone out.
30:04Is he now? That could be you, not me.
30:07He's called up somebody saying you've got to get round to the girls' house,
30:11which is where everything is, collect it all and then take it.
30:14He's just done that from Pulsar.
30:16Yeah, somebody's reading into the conversation that he's having.
30:19Detectives have not yet revealed all the evidence they have against Saul Murray for the hotel robbery.
30:33We're going to be going in with Saul when he comes out of his consultation.
30:37Yeah.
30:38We're a bit concerned that he's threatened or he says he's going to hit one of us.
30:43So if the alarm goes off, it's us.
30:49Oh, we're ready?
30:51Okay.
30:52Okay.
30:56Let's go.
30:57With Saul Murray threatening violence, an officer must keep watch from the custody office.
31:04Not many dangerous people we meet, but I do consider him to be dangerous.
31:11Yeah, no, absolutely.
31:13Run him.
31:14People can be really dangerous.
31:17If people haven't got anything to lose and don't care, then they can really hurt people.
31:25It normally happens when you least expect it, when you're relaxed.
31:29Then it will go all over on.
31:31Okay.
31:32Next, I think, is the...
31:38Hotel.
31:39Robbery.
31:40Hotel.
31:4112th of September 2015.
31:44Your client has been identified from CCTV as the male who has forced his way into a second floor room,
31:49where he has tied the male up and told him to comply or he would be stabbed.
31:54He has then taken his cash and car keys.
31:57Your client is seen leaving the hotel on CCTV and heading to Butte Street car park and then taken a Mercedes AMG convertible with a red roof.
32:06The vehicle was recovered near to where your client was arrested.
32:10I'm going to show you a photograph.
32:12It's a still that's taken from the front desk of the hotel.
32:15It has two people in it.
32:17It's my exhibit, MDH4.
32:19That's where they're checking in.
32:27This is exhibit MDH6.
32:30These are more stills that are taken from exhibit JL1.
32:36Who's that person?
32:40That, I suspect, is you.
32:58Second floor of the hotel.
33:01The hotel.
33:13Go ahead, call you, please. What's your emergency?
33:15I just got robbed from a hotel.
33:17You've just been robbed from a hotel?
33:18Yeah.
33:19And this is the area outside.
33:22That is you.
33:24Running towards that car park.
33:27OK.
33:29Is there anything you wish to tell me about that?
33:55I've got a phone call from a friend.
33:59And he's basically told me that the partner that I'm with now
34:06Uh-huh.
34:08Is basically, she's cheating on me.
34:12He tied you up?
34:13Yeah, I was with a girl.
34:14Where's the girl?
34:15She's run off.
34:16Yeah, she's not.
34:17Did he tie the female up?
34:18No.
34:19I have a feeling she knew him.
34:21I didn't intentionally go there to rob anybody.
34:33If I was going there to rob, I wouldn't be going there like this.
34:37I'd be well prepared.
34:38You wouldn't see my face.
34:40Yeah.
34:41My intentions was to go there, beat him up, slap her up and go.
34:46That was my intentions.
34:48He was doing a lot of damage limitation.
34:51He was already setting out his own defence.
34:54He's admitting an assault.
34:55Rather than robbery, which you can serve life for,
34:59he was looking at mitigating the sentencing but keeping himself there.
35:04So, he's told us part truths, but he's not told us the whole truth.
35:08So, it's then down to a jury and what do you believe?
35:11I've got one thing I need to ask you about.
35:13A watch.
35:14Yeah.
35:15Where'd you get that watch?
35:16I brought it.
35:17From?
35:18I don't want to say.
35:19It was in London.
35:21A jeweller's?
35:22Yeah.
35:23In London.
35:24Okay.
35:25And when?
35:26It's a while back, to be quite honest.
35:29What, weeks ago?
35:31Months ago?
35:32A few months ago now.
35:33A few months ago.
35:37How much was it?
35:38Let me tell you now, I've got papers for that watch.
35:41Perfect.
35:42Where's the papers?
35:43That's at my secret address.
35:47This afternoon, I had a report from Mr. O'Reilly.
35:56He described the watch over the phone perfectly and he's identified it.
36:10So, he's put himself there but he's tried to take it away from robberies to assaults.
36:14Hmm.
36:15He's trying to play a clever game.
36:17Hmm.
36:18And he's been quite wise, really.
36:21Just tried to lessen everything.
36:23Sometimes it's a damage limitation exercise, isn't it?
36:27After spending 15 hours building his case against Saul Murray, DC Martin Hart has fresh evidence from the hotel robbery,
36:35which connects him directly to the intimidation of a witness.
36:38So, the intimidation is that number.
36:41Yeah.
36:42It says that 508 is not his number, they're not his texts at any time.
36:46It's not his at all.
36:49This is the number that the young girl was contacting him on.
36:52The 508.
36:53So, effectively, I've got him making threats on that phone at some point.
36:58It all just joins together.
37:01Witness intimidation is incredibly serious.
37:03If you think about it, if you intimidate a witness, you're actually undermining the whole judicial process.
37:09The bullies, once they know that people are wobbling and the more people that do wobble and do it, the more they'll carry on.
37:16The young lady.
37:17The young lady.
37:18Yep.
37:19You are soul in her phone.
37:22An O instead of an A.
37:26Maybe.
37:27Maybe.
37:28She called you at 6 o'clock in the morning, just before she checked in.
37:33She called that number again at 634, at 637, at 638.
37:40And she called it at 642.
37:44What phone number did you receive that call on?
37:50The one number that is saved, as you, is a number that ends 508.
38:03She was interviewed.
38:04Yes.
38:05She told me she was talking to you.
38:08On that number.
38:20Unfortunately, all prosecutors are still busy servicing other calls.
38:42DC Martin Hart must convince the Crown Prosecution Service he has enough evidence to charge Saul Murray.
38:48And that he should be kept in prison until his trial.
38:51Press 1.
38:52If you wish to receive an automatic callback.
38:55Do you know what's going to be really good?
38:57It's no matter what time I finish.
38:58When I go home, I will have to take my son to the school bus for half seven in the morning.
39:03See?
39:04Mine are all grown up.
39:05I don't have to do that.
39:07All I have to do is go in, tap the dog on the head, say, morning, Wallace.
39:13Good morning.
39:14Good morning.
39:15Good morning.
39:16Good morning.
39:17Good morning.
39:18Good morning.
39:19Good morning.
39:20Good morning.
39:21D.C. Hart here from Luton Police Station.
39:22How are you?
39:23Jolly good.
39:24I have sent a couple of emails with regards to a gentleman by the name of Saul Murray.
39:34We have witness intimidation with a firearm.
39:39Can I have a couple of charges for robbery?
39:41We want to remand them based on these charges.
39:45Please remind them and then we'll get everything back and then probably produce him.
39:48I don't want to do that.
39:51I don't want him to go out and then hurt lots of people, which he will do.
39:55Yeah, I know.
40:02But you know what will happen?
40:04It will point the gun at some other thieving tote rag and a nice member of the public will
40:09walk in front just as he pulls the trigger.
40:12Indeed.
40:14Indeed.
40:15But I don't want to be responsible for those surprises.
40:18I've only got eight, seven years to go and then I can retire.
40:21Hmm.
40:22Yep.
40:36So I can start putting on robberies.
40:43I can put on arrest with a firearm scheduled.
40:52You do not have to say anything, but it may have your defence.
40:54If you do not mention, now something which you leg to rely on in court.
40:57On the 14th of September 2015 at Lewton in the county of Bedfordshire at the time of
41:02being arrested for an offence specified in Schedule 1 to the Firearms Act 1968, namely
41:08robbery, had in your possession an imitation firearm, namely a handgun contrary to the
41:13firearms Act 1968.
41:14Do you have any reply to that offence?
41:17On the 17th of August 2015 at Lewton in the county of Bedfordshire, had with you an
41:22imitation firearm, namely a black handgun.
41:25We're about to go, so we'll see you on Friday or whenever I see you next, Andy.
41:30Take care, mate.
41:31Bye.
41:33He's got an easy and serious trouble now with those firearm offences, isn't he?
41:39Sentencing-wise.
41:40Oh, God, yeah.
41:41Now the real work starts to see if we can make it stick.
41:47That looks good, isn't it, your princess bag?
41:54Right, let's go.
41:59Gun crime is increasing.
42:01We'll keep a lid on it as best we can.
42:05Public could help it, but they've got to want it.
42:07Would you want your child to be robbed?
42:11Do you want your family to be shot?
42:13Or is that something that you grasp about?
42:16Is that something that you should be compelled by society to say what's happened?
42:22The gun is being tested at a National Ballistic Centre in Leeds to discover if it's a viable weapon.
42:38The result will determine the severity of the firearm charge.
42:43So this is the original barrel.
42:45I think what he's done, he's hacksawed it off and then I thought he'd stuck a little bit of plumbing pipe on the end, to be fair.
42:52It's certainly of the right dimensions and type and construction to have been part of this firearm.
43:00Yeah, that seems to fit.
43:02He's converted this firearm to a firearm which is capable of discharging something with possible lethal consequences.
43:11Yeah.
43:12So we'll have to test that and see if that is the case.
43:16If it can be proved the gun fires live ammunition, Solmari will face a minimum sentence of five years in prison.
43:24The piece of rubber that we have here is imitation skin.
43:30Okay.
43:31It's got the same density as skin.
43:34The gelatin block has got the same density as human muscle.
43:38Okay.
43:40Yeah.
43:54We've got a gun off the street.
44:15I don't think there's any doubt that that gun in the wrong hands could kill somebody.
44:21Soolmari pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and the possession of a gun.
44:40He was sent to prison for five and a half years.
44:43The charge of witness intimidation has been left on file.
44:51My young boy's been shot through my front door.
45:00Shot through the door?
45:01Yeah, there was a massive sequence in the door.
45:04He'd been jumped out here this evening by three lads.
45:06Okay, has that already been recorded to us?
45:08No, because of the consequences.
45:10Right, okay.
45:21And 24 Hours in Police Custody is back same time next week.
45:26But starting this Friday over on Moor 4.
45:28A newly divorced journalist opens up old wounds in the Danish crime drama Dicta.
45:32Crime Reporter, the investigation begins at nine.
45:35But next tonight on Channel 4, a lifetime in the sport.
45:38Quite literally, we meet the OAP bodybuilders in 70 with a six-pack.
