00:11including a second group of seven children kidnapped by the U.S. government.
00:19Ecuadorian President Daniel Novoa announced on Friday the dismissal of more than 5,000 public employees.
00:30And dozens of Palestinians gathered at a charity kitchen in the city of Gaza on Friday,
00:36desperate for food amid a hunger crisis fueled by an increased Israeli blocate within the Strip.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos. I'm from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:00We now begin with the information.
01:06This Friday, a new group of Minnesota migrants arrived at the Simón Bolívar International Airport from the United States,
01:13including a second group of seven children that have been kidnapped by the U.S. government.
01:17The 51st flight was welcomed by the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello,
01:23alongside Camila Fabri, president of the Back to the Homeland mission.
01:28The families of the repatriated minors were also present at the airport,
01:32ensuring an immediate and heartfelt reunion.
01:35In statements to the press, Cabello described the event as a miracle
01:39made possible through continuous dialogue between the Bolivarian government
01:43and the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
01:48He also emphasized the ongoing efforts and persistent calls
01:51for the safe return of all children who had been separated from their families in the U.S.
01:58They are back, back in their homeland.
02:08They are back to love, to life, to hope.
02:11And right now we are sharing with them here a moment of their parents' happiness.
02:16And now they will share together, embrace them, love them.
02:20And we will continue moving forward.
02:22We will not cease until we bring, the president has pledged to bring every last Venezuelan they have kidnapped,
02:30any who is detained anywhere in the world.
02:33Today, a new group has arrived, 237 of them.
02:39And with this good news, the good news continue for Venezuela,
02:44good things continue for our country.
02:47We should all rejoice that these boys and girls have returned to their homeland to be reunited with their families.
02:54And to celebrate its 20th anniversary,
03:19Telesur presented its book, The Eye of America on the World.
03:24In collaboration with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America,
03:29Alva TCP, Telesur presented the book on Friday.
03:33This work showcases the multi-platform's two-decade journey of news coverage,
03:38establishing itself as the voice and image of Latin America and the global South.
03:43During his speech and analysis of the book,
03:46the Minister of Communication and Culture, Fredy Ñáñez,
03:49emphasized that Telesur has fought to combat hegemony
03:52and revealed the truth about what is happening in the world since its inception.
03:58The president of the multi-platform, Patricia Villegas,
04:01also commented on the experience of taking Telesur's knowledge to a book.
04:05Publishing a book was like entering a completely unknown universe.
04:16And we took on this challenge,
04:18also thinking that what we see as normal might be interesting to others,
04:23that there is actually a lesson to be learned from the Telesur experience,
04:27our own, of course,
04:29but one that can also be useful to others.
04:32Today, there may be only one Telesur as a brand,
04:36but there are also many Telesurs today.
04:39In other words, the channel has inspired a lot of communication initiatives
04:44and inspires a vision about the facts that is present
04:48in the growth of small communication enterprises,
04:50I would say, all over the world.
04:54And in this context,
04:55the Bolivian President Luis Arce also congratulated Telesur
04:58on its 20th anniversary,
05:00highlighting the multi-platform's work in denouncing injustices.
05:05Through a post on his Telegram account,
05:06the head of state shared that
05:08we salute the 20th anniversary of Telesur,
05:11a news network that has always stood out
05:14for its responsible and truthful coverage of events affecting the world's peoples.
05:19President Arce added its courage in seeking the truth
05:23and denouncing injustices is essential to defending democracy
05:27and building a world with greater social justice for all.
05:31Congratulations.
05:35And one of the most powerful stories documented by Telesur
05:39was the 18-day indigenous people strike in Ecuador,
05:43where leaders agreed to officially narrate,
05:47to officially narrate,
05:48would have erased their voices
05:51had it not been for the support of the multi-platform.
05:55Elena Rodriguez tells us more.
05:59Now, the fifth day of protests is underway
06:01as part of the national strike
06:03called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities
06:05against the policies of President Guillermo Lazo's government,
06:08with more details, our colleague.
06:10Three years have passed
06:12and the echo of resistance continues
06:14to ring out in the streets,
06:15in parks, in the open wounds.
06:18The family of Byron Wataduca,
06:20one of the six protesters killed in June 2022,
06:23marched again in Quito,
06:25not only to demand justice,
06:27but to shut out
06:28what the state wanted to silence,
06:31that Byron was not a criminal,
06:33he was a leader, a father,
06:34a man who shoots dignity over fear.
06:40He was a good person.
06:42He was a hard-working man.
06:43He worked.
06:45He was putting his children through school.
06:47And now he has left his children orphaned.
06:50And I still suffer for my grandchildren.
06:52You see.
06:54I am helping my grandchildren.
06:56I am continuing on that path
06:58so that they can study.
07:00The national strike was not just a protest.
07:03It was the roar of a country
07:04that was tired of paying the bills of others.
07:07It was the bursting of a pressure cooker
07:10built up over years of neglect,
07:12exclusion, and structural racism.
07:15While Guillermo Lazo's government responded
07:17with repression and empty rhetoric,
07:19the streets spoke another language,
07:21the language of dignity.
07:25Independent media outlets
07:26have set a very important precedent
07:28that is essential in many cases,
07:30because it provides conclusive evidence
07:33of what happened,
07:34how it happened,
07:35and obviously not only in court cases
07:38or cases that are being investigated
07:40by the prosecutor's office,
07:41but also in the national perspective
07:45that each of us has
07:46regarding what the strike was.
07:50It was not the same thing
07:52to experience it through the alternative media
07:54than through the official channels.
07:58Official channels,
07:59mainstream media
08:00that produced the discourse
08:02of power without filters.
08:03National television stations
08:05repeated images of chaos
08:07without context.
08:08Telesur decided to be
08:09at the heart of the conflict,
08:11to work with the protesters,
08:12to listen to the indigenous communities,
08:14record the voices of the women
08:16who cooked to sustain
08:18the resistance of the young people,
08:20who confronted raffles
08:21with the stones
08:23of the community leaders
08:24who instead of weapons
08:26carried a list of demand.
08:27The mass media,
08:29the private media,
08:30present a narrative,
08:32and that narrative is their truth,
08:34hiding the truth
08:35of what is really happening
08:37in society as a whole.
08:39That is why I believe
08:40it is important
08:41to have another narrative
08:43from community media,
08:45alternative media,
08:46media that is not aligned
08:48with the policies imposed
08:50by the International Monetary Fund.
08:53The spark that ignited
08:55the revolt
08:55was the elimination of subsidies,
08:58but the real fuel
08:58was something else,
09:00the historical neglect.
09:02It was 18 days of resistance
09:04that do not fit
09:05into the dichotomy
09:06of good protesters
09:08versus violent infiltrators.
09:10Because the true face
09:11of violence is structural,
09:13it is neglect.
09:14Until as we knew
09:15how to see it,
09:16it did not reduce
09:17the protest to a marriage story.
09:19It narrated it
09:20for what it was,
09:21a dispute for the right
09:22to access with dignity.
09:24That is why I think
09:25it is important
09:26the alternative media,
09:28the community media,
09:29Telesur,
09:30and other media
09:31have become a spokesperson,
09:33has given a democratic contrast
09:35to the stories
09:36that are happening
09:37in our society.
09:38It is absolutely necessary.
09:40Telling that truth
09:41had consequences.
09:43Our team felt
09:43the repression firsthand,
09:45but we understood
09:46that at that moment
09:47it was essential to inform.
09:50In Ecuador,
09:51without the presence of media
09:52such as Telesur or others,
09:54it would have been impossible
09:55to get out the information
09:56about what happened
09:57in the uprisings of 2019
09:58and 2021.
10:00And if that information
10:01had not been filtered,
10:03we would not have had
10:04the tools and the conditions
10:05to demand that the state
10:06stop the repression
10:07and the violence.
10:08That is why Telesur
10:09is uncomfortable,
10:11because it dared to challenge
10:12the official discussions
10:13and also the forgetness.
10:15Thanks to Telesur,
10:17Ecuador and the world
10:18learned a true road map
10:19of the indigenous movement,
10:21not through filters
10:22nor distortions,
10:24but from the voices
10:25of those who trace it,
10:26because to make visible
10:28someone is not only
10:29to show him,
10:30it is to legitimize
10:31the world,
10:32the rage,
10:32and the hope.
10:34With images by Henry Pillajo,
10:36Elena Rodriguez,

11:00From the South.
11:01We continue with more information

11:03Daniel Novoa
11:04announced on Friday
11:05the dismissal
11:06of more than 5,000
11:08public employees.
11:10Novoa affirmed
11:10that the downside
11:11is not related
11:12to the public integrity law,
11:14whose implementation
11:15implies further evaluations
11:16that could lead
11:17to more dismissals.
11:19The head of state
11:20explained that the employees
11:21to be laid off
11:22belong to the executive branch,
11:23administrative staff,
11:25and the Ecuadorian
11:26Social Security Institute.
11:27The announcement
11:28comes after the approval
11:30of the public integrity law,
11:32a controversial measure
11:33facing multiple accusations
11:35of unconstitutionality.
11:40And in other news,
11:42Cuba is preparing
11:43to commemorate
11:44the 72nd anniversary
11:45of the attacks
11:46on the Moncada
11:47and Carlos Manuel
11:48in the Céspedes barracks.
11:50These attacks
11:50laid the foundation
11:51for the triumph
11:53of the Cuban revolution.
11:55Cubans are holding
11:56mobilizations
11:56in honor of the upcoming holiday,
11:59although the main event
12:00will take place
12:01on Saturday,
12:01July 26,
12:02in the province
12:03of Ciego de Ávila.
12:05The city is decorated
12:06to welcome hundreds of people
12:08and at least 23 delegations
12:10from countries
12:11attending the festival.
12:12Also known as
12:13National Rebellion Day,
12:14the holiday is celebrated annually
12:16to honor those
12:17who died
12:18during the event.
12:34In Venezuela's
12:36National Electoral Council,
12:37the CNE
12:37welcomed on Friday
12:38a group of international observers
12:40ahead of upcoming
12:41Sunday's elections.
12:43CNE's President,
12:44Elvis Amoroso highlighted
12:45that the observers
12:46are renowned intellectuals
12:48and personalities
12:49from universities
12:50of different parts
12:51of the world
12:52and stress that
12:52they represent
12:53another guarantee
12:54for the good results
12:56of the upcoming elections.
12:57Amoroso also emphasized
12:59that they will be
13:00exceptional witnesses
13:02of how a highly democratic
13:03and peace-loving people
13:05will once again vote
13:06to elect their authorities
13:08in defense
13:09of their sovereignty
13:10and self-determination.
13:12The second edition
13:20of the People's Summit
13:21for Peace
13:21and Against the War
13:23began this Friday
13:24in Caracas, Venezuela.
13:25At the opening ceremony,
13:27BTCP Executive
13:28Secretary Rander Peña
13:29stated that the summit
13:31aims to provide
13:32a space for dialogue,
13:33reflection,
13:34and action
13:35to save humanity
13:36from the many forms
13:37of fascist digressions.
13:39Peña mentioned
13:40that U.S. imperialism
13:41has not seen
13:42the change of era
13:44in the regional
13:45and global scenarios
13:46and that explains
13:47its aggressive
13:47and criminal reactions.
13:50The meeting
13:50was attended
13:50by delegations
13:51from over 70 countries
13:53and it was a space
13:55to denounce
13:55the crimes
13:56committed against
13:56the people
13:57of the Middle East
13:58with emphasis
13:59on the genocide
14:00committed by Israel
14:01against Palestine.
14:02In this context,
14:09Venezuelan Foreign Minister
14:10Ivan Giel stated
14:11that the summit
14:11allows the peoples
14:12of the world
14:13to confront
14:14the great powers
14:16through justice.
14:18And today,
14:20that resistance
14:21transformed into offensive
14:23and transformed
14:24into victory
14:25and that allows us
14:28to convene
14:29this great summit
14:30and allows us
14:31to offer our space,
14:33our land,
14:34our homeland,
14:35our political strength
14:36to all the peoples
14:38of the world
14:39to demand,
14:40to urge the leaders
14:41of the world,
14:43to urge the great powers,
14:45the medium powers,
14:46the whole world,
14:48that it is necessary
14:50once and for all
14:52to initiate
14:53a true process
14:54of peace,
14:55peace with justice
14:58as the Bolivarian peace.
15:02The president
15:03of the National Assembly
15:04of Venezuela,
15:05Jorge Rodriguez,
15:06condemned the hostilities
15:07of the Israeli regime,
15:09comparing them
15:09to the aggressions
15:10perpetrated
15:11by the Salvadoran regime
15:12against Venezuela migrants
15:14for more than four months.
15:18If you look
15:19at the type
15:20of barbarities
15:21that Adolf Hitler said,
15:23how are they different
15:24from the things
15:25Benjamin Netanyahu says,
15:27and how are the things
15:29Benjamin Netanyahu says
15:30different from the things
15:32Nate Buckel said,
15:33about our Venezuelan youth,
15:36who were kidnapped
15:37and taken
15:37to a concentration camp
15:39in El Salvador,
15:41in any way,
15:42a German-American philosopher
15:44called it
15:45the banality of evil,
15:47because every fascist
15:48is a sociopath,
15:50every fascist
15:51is a psychopath,
15:52and a sociopath
15:54doesn't care about killing,
15:56doesn't care about hurting.
15:58If from a very young age
16:00they start killing animals
16:02and looking for ways
16:03to break any rule,
16:05any convention,
16:06that is why
16:07Benjamin Netanyahu
16:08does not care,
16:10and that is why
16:10the United Nations
16:12and all those
16:13multilateral organizations
16:14that are useless,
16:16and should be replaced
16:17by institutions
16:19and multilateral organizations
16:21that truly serve
16:22the human being,
16:24that truly serve humanity,
16:26and not those bureaucrats
16:28who earn a salary,
16:29just to say yes,
16:31sir,
16:32to the government
16:32of the United States
16:34of America.
16:35Now we have a second
16:38short break coming up,
16:39but before we invite you

16:53Final short break,
16:53don't go away.
16:54Welcome back
17:21to From the South.
17:22We continue
17:22with more information
17:23dozens of Palestinians
17:25gathered at a charity
17:26kitchen in the city
17:27of Gaza Friday
17:29desperate for food
17:30amid a hunger crisis
17:31fueled by an increased
17:32Israeli blockade
17:33within the Strip.
17:35The residents
17:35of the area
17:36had hoped
17:37that a truce
17:38would come into effect
17:39by Thursday or Friday
17:40to allow a flow
17:42of life-saving aid
17:43into the Gaza Strip.
17:45However,
17:45they were disappointed
17:46after knowing
17:47about the collapse
17:48of the ceasefire negotiations.
17:50According to charities
17:51and right groups,
17:52even their own staff
17:54were struggling
17:54to get enough food.
17:56More than two dozen
17:57Western-aligned countries
17:58and 100 charity
18:00and human rights groups
18:01have called for an end
18:03to the war
18:04and have harshly criticized
18:05illness blockade
18:06and the new aid delivery model
18:08that it has rolled out.
18:19And the humanitarian organization
18:21Doctors Without Borders
18:22reported on Friday
18:23that about 25%
18:25of pregnant women
18:26and their nursing infants
18:27as well as children
18:28under five years of age
18:30in the Gaza Strip
18:31suffer from acute monotrition.
18:32According to the
18:34international organization,
18:35as of May 18th,
18:37the number of people
18:38in the northern Gaza
18:39treated for malnutrition
18:41has quadrupled,
18:42while cases of severe malnutrition
18:44in children under five
18:46tripled in the last two weeks alone.
18:49On the other hand,
18:50the World Health Organization
18:52had warned Wednesday
18:53of a drastic increase
18:55of death from malnutrition
18:57in the Palestinian enclave
18:59where 21 children
19:00under five years of age
19:02have died from it.
19:08Precisely in this regard,
19:09United Nations Secretary-General's
19:11Associate Spokesperson
19:12Stephanie Tremblay
19:13cited a report issued
19:15by the Office
19:16for the Coordination
19:17of Humanitarian Affairs
19:18which warns of the
19:20worsening food crisis
19:21in the Gaza Strip
19:22and how it affects
19:23the most vulnerable age groups.
19:25Now turning to the situation
19:29in Gaza,
19:30our colleagues
19:31with the Office
19:32for the Coordination
19:32of Humanitarian Affairs
19:34warn that conditions
19:36on the ground
19:37which are already catastrophic
19:38are worsening fast.
19:40Colleagues remind us
19:41that hunger and malnutrition
19:43increase the risk of illnesses
19:45that weaken the immune system,
19:48especially among women,
19:49children, older people
19:51and those with disabilities
19:53and chronic diseases.
19:54The consequences
19:56can turn deadly fast.
19:58Food scarcity
19:59is also having
20:00a severe impact
20:01on pregnant
20:02and breastfeeding women
20:03as their babies
20:04are more likely
20:05to be born
20:06with health complications.
20:08It affects mothers' ability
20:09to breastfeed,
20:10putting children
20:11at increased risk
20:12of infectious diseases.
20:15In Gaza,
20:16systems and services
20:17are on the verge
20:18of collapse
20:19as we've been telling you
20:21for days now.
20:22Just yesterday,
20:23the local health authorities
20:25announced that
20:25two more people
20:26died from starvation.
20:29In the meantime,
20:29the trickle of supplies
20:31that are making it
20:32into Gaza
20:32are nowhere near adequate
20:34to address
20:35the immense needs.
20:38And Iran witnessed
20:39massive demonstrations
20:40on Friday
20:41in support of the
20:42Palestinian cause
20:43condemning the Israeli siege
20:45on the Gaza Strip.
20:46Iranians took

20:48in the cities of Tehran
20:49and Tabriz
20:50carrying flags
20:51of Palestine,
20:52Lebanon and Iran.
20:54The demonstrators
20:54expressed their solidarity
20:56with the Palestinian resistance
20:57and denounced
20:58the complicity
20:59of the West
21:00in the Israeli occupation.
21:02They also condemned
21:03the genocide
21:04and the food
21:04and humanitarian blockade
21:06imposed by the Sinus regime
21:07against the Gaza population.
21:09The Islamic Media
21:11Coordinating Council
21:12called the marches
21:13a popular outcry
21:14against forced probation,
21:17killings
21:17and human rights violations
21:19in the Palestinian enclave.
21:26At the same time,
21:27mass demolitions
21:28were also reported
21:29in the occupied West Bank
21:30in rejection
21:31to the Israeli military siege
21:33against the Gaza Strip.
21:35The demonstrators
21:35also demanded
21:36an immediate Arab
21:38and international intervention
21:40to stop the genocide
21:41against the Gaza people.
21:42On the other hand,
21:43Hamas leader
21:44Abdul Rahman Shadid
21:45said that
21:46the angry marches
21:47are the closest expression
21:49of solidarity
21:50between the West Bank
21:51and Gaza.
21:57At the same time,
21:58thousands of Israelis
22:00gathered in Tel Aviv
22:01to demand
22:02the government
22:02of Benjamin Netanyahu
22:04the end of the siege
22:05on Gaza
22:06and establish
22:06an exchange
22:07for the remaining detainees
22:09held by the
22:10Palestinian resistance
22:11movement Hamas.
22:12The demonstrators
22:13carried images
22:14of Israeli prisoners
22:15held in the
22:16Palestinian enclave
22:17followed by images
22:18of children
22:19that are suffering
22:20from extreme
22:21malnutrition.
22:23After the main
22:23demonstration
22:24in Habemus Square,
22:26demonstrators blocked
22:27several streets
22:28of the city
22:28before being repressed
