00:00Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned the United States disinformation campaign against
00:15Venezuelan migration. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted a recent report by the
00:25World Bank, which unveiled 11 million Mexicans, were lifted out of poverty during the administration
00:31of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. And the United Nations warned that more than 2,700
00:40children under the age of five in the Gaza Strip have been diagnosed with acute malnutrition.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos. I'm from the Tercer Studios
00:57in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:59Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned the United States disinformation campaign against
01:17Venezuelan migration, emphasizing the efforts and commitment of his government with the safe return
01:23of migrants. During the swearing-in ceremony of the governor-elect of the Aragua state,
01:29Johanna Sánchez, the president described as false the document issued by the Trump administration,
01:34which points to the alleged refusal of the Venezuelan state to receive its nationals in
01:39the U.S. In response, Maduro highlighted his government's commitment to the safe and dignified
01:45return of migrants through the Back to the Homeland plan. In addition, the head of state condemned
01:49the campaign promoted by Washington against the Venezuelan migrant community, which he described
01:55as an attempt to justify the escalation of aggressions against them since Trump took office.
02:05They have run a thousand campaigns saying the Aragua train this, the Aragua train that. No,
02:13Aragua is the birthplace of the homeland. It is the cradle of a hard-working, honest, sincere,
02:19patriotic people who defeated the Aragua train. We defeated it here, here. President Donald Trump,
02:29from the Samandu Guerre, where the Liberator was during the admirable campaign. President Donald Trump,
02:36from the Samandu Guerre, where our commander Chavez was 42 years, five months and 19 days ago,
02:45swearing allegiance to the homeland, swearing allegiance to the revolution. I send you a message. Do not let
02:53yourself be poisoned against Venezuela anymore. They poison you every day with lies.
02:59Also in Venezuela, a new group of 192 nationals was welcomed at the SimĂłn BolĂvar International Airport
03:08in MaquetĂa on a flight from Texas as part of the government plan Return to the Homeland. This new
03:16group of Venezuelan migrants, made up of 156 men, 26 women and 10 minors, was received with a
03:23multidisciplinary team to provide them with comprehensive medical attention. It is not
03:28worthy to highlight that this governmental plan has facilitated the comeback of nearly 5,600 Venezuelans
03:36supported by a humanitarian program. The Maduro administration has denounced several times
03:41families' separations due to Trump's immigration policies. And in this flight, they managed to
03:47reunite two brothers who had been split up from their families for six months.
03:57The government of Venezuela addressed on Friday the reaction of Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister
04:03Kamala Persat-Bezasar in response to a legitimate complaint made by President Nicolás Maduro about criminal
04:11elements entering the country from Trinidadian territory. Through an official statement, the government
04:17assured that Venezuela has captured criminals of Trinidadian origin who have confessed to their
04:24plans statements that have been duly substantiated with compelling evidence presented by the competent
04:30authorities. Furthermore, the Venezuelan government stated that the appropriate response to this
04:35serious situation is to offer cooperation and a willingness to clarify the facts. The Prime Minister's
04:41violent and bombastic attitude raises serious suspicions of complicity in this incursion and promises the good
04:48cooperative relations that exist between our countries in fundamental areas. In its closing remarks, the
04:56statement also urged the authorities of Trinidad and Tobago not to lend themselves to geopolitical games that are
05:02alien to the interests of our peoples and reaffirms its commitment to peace, sovereignty and mutual respect,
05:10recalling that any legitimate concerns should be channeled through diplomatic channels, not through
05:15threats or unfunded statements that only fuel artificial tensions.
05:20And at this moment we go live to Venezuela where in the framework of the first AgroAlba Expo Fair, the
05:32ministers of agriculture and fisheries of different Alba countries are holding their first joint meeting. Let's see.
05:39It's on imports in our country. In the years 2007 until now, the sector of agriculture has expected
05:47Caracas as the Alba TCP meetings of ministers of fisheries and agriculture is underway. They are
05:57collaborating in this effort after this motion was presented on the summit that took place last
06:04December in an effort to strengthen cooperation between Alba TCP countries. Let's listen to some of
06:13these statements.
06:16This data reflects a robust growth of the sector, consolidating Nicaragua as a country, as a sector
06:23that is a dynamic livestock and with continually growing and facilitating the growth of the metrics
06:31of agro-export maintained as these items of beef, the dairy products, coffee, the red beans, tobacco,
06:41sugar cane, plantain, cocoa, as well as other aspects. And we have implemented also policies and
06:48strategies in agriculture for the development, sustained rural development and social productive
06:54elements that have made advances in the sector of food with diverse investments made
07:01the public and private with one sound support with respect to legal systems and social and also
07:09property. In the last 16 years, our good government, the revolution that sent in this government has
07:15fostered advances in the structural lead that are significant, that have been crucial for the development
07:20of Nicaragua. One of the most areas I can highlight is the investment in infrastructure.
07:25Those were the statements made by the ministers of fisheries and agricultures in this first joint
07:32meeting in the framework of the AgroAlba Expo Fair in Caracas. Now we move on to other topics. Haitians
07:39expressed Thursday their rejection to the U.S. travel ban, which was even condemned by U.S. Congressman Mike
07:47Lawler. Local outlets said that the prohibition deprived nationals of fulfilling their professional
07:53dreams in the United States, preventing them to help their families from abroad. They further recalled
07:58Washington contributed to chaos by its military intervention and subsequent occupation. Meanwhile,
08:05the U.S. Congressman stressed that Haitians needed support and not a ban due to the fact that over
08:121,600 Haitians had been killed in just the first three months of 2025, in addition to 1 million nationals that
08:19were forced to be displaced. Overall, both Haitians and Lawler agreed that the travel ban would make
08:26the Haitians' humanitarian situation worse.
