00:00Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned the United States' disinformation campaign against Venezuelan migration.
00:17Cuban President Miguel DĂaz-Canel discussed the recent measures announced by telecommunications company Etexa and denounced the consequences of the blockade imposed on the country by the United States.
00:36And in Palestine, the Israeli Zionist regime killed nine Palestinians during the celebration of the Holy Day of Eid Allah.
00:47Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos. I'm from the Tercero Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news.
00:55Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned the United States' disinformation campaign against Venezuelan migration, emphasizing the efforts and commitment of his government with the safe return of migrants.
01:19During the swearing-in ceremony of the governor-elect of the Aragua state, Joana Sánchez, the president described as false the document issued by the Trump administration, which points to alleged refusal of the Venezuelan state to receive its nationals in the U.S.
01:36In response, Maduro highlighted his government's commitment to the safe and dignified return of migrants through the Back to the Homeland plan.
01:45In addition, the head of state condemned the campaign promoted by Washington against the Venezuelan migrant community, which he described as an attempt to justify the escalation of aggressions against them since Trump took office.
01:59And we continue in Venezuela as the first edition of the Agroalba 2025 Expo Fair continues in the city of Caracas.
02:11The event brings together ALBA-TCP member states as well as invited countries, investors and businessmen from different regions of the world.
02:20As part of the two-day agenda, ministers from different productive portfolios have held several briefings and meetings.
02:27The executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, Jorge Arreaza, highlighted the extraordinary potential of its member states.
02:34The Agroalba initiative was proposed by President Nicolás Maduro during the bloc's 24th summit of heads of state and government last December with the aim of taking advantage of the potential of Venezuela and other member nations to achieve food sovereignty.
02:51And now, with this initiative of Agroalba, we are sure that the call we have made to businessmen and businesswomen of the social movement of peasants and farmers will allow us to really build a path of splendor, a path of prosperity, a path of national sovereignty.
03:19It is a really ambitious task that has been launched and given to us by the summit of presidents and heads of state and government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our Americas.
03:33Here there has been a team that has responded to that.
03:37You have responded to that.
03:39We have already signed some agricultural and livestock exploitation agreements to develop in Venezuela the food production that our region needs.
03:50And in other news, Bolsonaro's supporter Congresswoman Carla Zambelli, accused by Brazil's Supreme Court of Justice of illegally entering false data in the National Council of Justice, was placed on Interpol's red list.
04:08Zambelli was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 10 years and eight months in prison, but fled the country across the border with Argentina to the United States.
04:16In this regard, Minister Alexander de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court had ordered her preventive arrest for noncompliance with court orders.
04:26The G1 website reported that the Congresswoman is in Italy, where she arrived before her name was formally included in the international wanted list.
04:36But until the day before, the Congresswoman's own advisers said that she was in the United States.
04:47In Peru, the megaport of Chiang Kai, built with majority Chinese capital, formally began operations with the delivery of the formal license in a ceremony led by President of Peru, Dina Boluarte.
05:00The authorities reported in a statement that the delivery of the license took place in Chiang Kai, a town located some 80 kilometers north of Lima.
05:10Boluarte pointed out that the trade generated in the sports terminal will contribute 1.8 percentage points to the Peruvian GDP and will generate 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.
05:23Last March, Chinese sources pointed out that the direct maritime route between Chiang Kai and the Chinese city of Shanghai had mobilized 22,000 tons of cargo in its first two months of operation.
05:37And the United States Supreme Court rejected the Mexican government's $10 billion lawsuit against firearms manufacturers for contributing to the armed violence of drug trafficking cartels.
05:54Judge Elena Kagan alleged that the Mexican lawsuit does not credibly prove that the companies have directly aided and evaded the illegal sale of weapons to criminal groups.
06:08The decision made by the U.S. entity protected manufacturers from liability when products are used in criminal acts.
06:14In this sense, Mexico argues that these negligent commercial practices of the manufacturers are poorly regulated and facilitate trafficking in Mexican territory, fueling violence and suffering in the country.
06:29We stay in the United States as the dispute between President Donald Trump and tycoon Elon Musk led to a 14 percent drop for Tesla Corporation on the stock market.
06:44The iconic electric vehicle company suffered one of the worst declines on the Wall Street stock market this week, closing with a 14.2 percent loss and wiping out nearly $150 billion in market value.
07:02After months of political closeness, Tesla CEO described as an abomination Trump's new tax plan, warning that its approval would skyrocket the deficit and the national debt.
07:15In response, the Republican leader threatened to withdraw all governmental subsidies and contracts from companies owned by Musk, including Tesla itself.

07:55Welcome back to From the South, we continue with more information in Cuba.
08:00President Miguel DĂaz-Canel discussed with senior officials the recent measures announced by the telecommunications company of Cuba, Etexa.
08:08The Cuban head of state stressed that the government will assist the vulnerable people and denounce the consequences of the blocate imposed by Washington.
08:16On the other hand, DĂaz-Canel said that the decision to implement these measures is the result of the confluence of a series of internal and external factors that have created a complex technological situation that threatens the quality and sustainability of the service.
08:33The Cuban president also denounced the accusations of the United States about alleged student repression.
08:38And in Chile, teachers went on strike for 48 hours to demand the government improved their jobs and a teacher's day without classes.
08:55During the mobilization, the teachers demanded concrete solutions for teachers' job stability and the end of contractual precariousness and modifications to reduce work overload.
09:05Also, the union leaders met with different parliamentarians, hoping for more satisfactory answers to their demands.
09:13They also pointed out that the lack of concrete answers from the Ministry of Education is not acceptable and the teachers and public education deserve respect and immediate action.
09:24Mexican president Sheinbaum called to urgently set up a high-level negotiation table between Colombia and Mexico regarding mutual security and cooperation due to the recent attack carried out by a Colombian criminal group in Michoacán.
09:45There was a very important arrest in Michoacán on the border with Jalisco when unfortunately members of the National Guard died by an explosive device and members of a criminal group were arrested and there were several Colombians involved.
10:04It is not the first time that people of that nationality are arrested.
10:21When I was head of government in the city of Mexico, there were also arrests of other nationalities, but particularly Colombians.
10:27For some months now, and I even mentioned it directly to President Petro, and also our foreign minister have been looking into creating a high-level group for security issues between Colombia and Mexico, and there have already been some meetings.
10:50Moreover, the Mexican head of state indicated that she will wait for a meeting with the United States under Secretary of State Christopher Landau before making an approach for steel and aluminum following increase in tariffs.
11:10We are going to see how the meeting turns out this Friday. Remember that on the 11th, on that day, Secretary Landau is coming to Mexico.
11:20This is one of the issues we are going to talk to him about. Then, we are going to wait before making the proposals for steel and aluminum.
11:32We are going to move on to other topics. A new and powerful eruption was recorded in the Fuego volcano, the most active one in Guatemala and located in the center of the country, with a column of smoke and ash of more than 5,000 meters high.
12:00The activity began with ash and lava fall, said the National Institute of Sismiology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology.
12:10More than 500 people were evacuated in Chimaldenango, Sacatepegue and Escuintla.
12:17Meanwhile, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction activated the Institutional Orange Alert after detecting pyroclastic flows in the ash and dry canyons.
12:28This is the second eruption of the year after, in February, the Colossus maintained a strong activity as well.
12:35Pakistan's children are losing weeks of education each year to school closures due to extreme weather, prompting calls for a rethink of learning schedules.
12:51Searing heat and unusual cold snaps have caused closures that are meant to spare children the health risks of learning in classrooms that are often overcrowded and lack basic cooling, heating and ventilation systems.
13:07In May, a nationwide heat wave saw temperatures of up to 7 degrees Celsius above normal, hitting 45 degrees in Punjab and prompting several provinces to cut school hours or start summer holidays early.
13:22Pakistan's summers historically began in June, when temperatures hit the high 40s, but in the last five years may have been similarly hot, according to the Meteorological Department.
13:39The 2025 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo opened, drawing over 300 enterprises from 15 countries and regions to participate.
13:49On the themed path to carbon neutrality, the exposition showcased the latest low-carbon technologies and products around the globe.
13:57With many of the exhibits already put into practice, the expo attracts global low-carbon practitioners to investigate the new developments in the green industry.
14:09A local power company vowed to take full advantage of Shanghai's offshore wind power and has planned long-term projects to promote green energy development
14:18in the city. This year's expo has established a special section targeting the country's policy of promoting large-scale equipment upgrades and consumer goods trade-ins.
14:35Based on this, we can quickly assess the value of green technologies and connect them with financial and trading scenarios, promoting integration between the green financial system and industrial sectors.
