02:16In the context of our 20th anniversary celebrations we would like to remember Telesur's relationship
02:42with Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona. Let's see.
02:49Do you realize it Diego? It's been 28 years from that moment and I am still rowing. And thanks to you I can say hello through the Latin American TV channel Telesur to 110 countries.
03:05I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be in this program.
03:12In 2014 Desurda was born, one of the most emblematic and remembered Telesur programs. The space had the carriage of linking sports with politics, economy and social realities of Latin America and the world setting a precedence in television. The program was hosted by a luxury duo with great charisma and content.
03:22Argentinian football legend Diego Armando Maradona and renowned European journalist, broadcaster and sports commentator Victor Hugo Morales. Maradona known for his charisma and his direct and unfiltered opinions brought his unique vision from the field of play and his experience.
03:29as a world sports figure. On the other hand Morales famous for his eloquence and sharp analysis and his eloquence for his eloquence and sharp analysis.
03:36The program was hosted by a luxury duo with great charisma and content. Argentinian football legend Diego Armando Maradona and renowned European journalist, broadcaster and sports commentator Victor Hugo Morales.
03:44Maradona known for his charisma and his direct and unfiltered opinions brought his unique vision from the field of play and his experience as a world sports figure.
03:54On the other hand Morales famous for his eloquence and sharp analysis provided the journalistic perspective and contextualized the debates with his broad culture and social commitment.
04:06The Surda was a resounding success and had a wide repercussion being broadcasted in more than 100 countries and reaching a potential audience of 480 million people.
04:16It featured the participation of several well known football players such as Gary Lineker.
04:2128 years to date right. How is the hand?
04:25Histo Stoichkov.
04:28Stoichkov and Maradona are what we could call two rebels.
04:32Do you know what unite us that we have not forgotten where we come from?
04:36Hector El Negro Enrique among others.
04:40The main focus of the program was the analysis of the matches and events of the World Cup.
04:49However, it was not limited to tactics or the results.
04:52Maradona and Morales' vision always went further incorporating strong opinions, personal anecdotes and sports stories,
05:00including the achievements of countries such as the Soviet Union in the fields of sports, an aspect that is often minimized in other media.
05:07Maradona and Victor Hugo met again with the Surda Viajero program in the framework of the America's Cup in Chile 2015,
05:15recorded in different Latin American countries such as Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela.
05:20A space for the analysis of the sporting event and criticism of the most relevant events of our continent with the unfiltered view of the world's football star.
05:28Four years after the success of the Surda, the experience was repeated with the La Mano del Diez program for the 2018 World Cup in Russia,
05:38consolidating the formula that combined football and sociopolitical analysis.
05:42This new program was designed to continue the legacy of the Surda, maintaining the combination of high-level football analysis with a strong component of social and political commentary.
05:52Maradona's passage through Telesur was a demonstration of how a sports icon could transcend his field to become a political activist,
06:00a disseminator of ideas and a tireless advocate for the underprivileged.
06:05Telesur provided Maradona with a platform to be the Diego he wanted to be, not only the best football player in history,
06:12but also a tireless soldier for just causes, always with the legacy of Commander Hugo Chavez as his guiding light.
06:19Diego Maradona's imprint on our channel is a living testimony of the powerful union between sports, politics and unbreakable friendship.
06:27It was a reflection of his deep commitment to a political and social vision of Latin America.
06:32For him, his relationship with Telesur was not just a job.
06:35It was an extension of his militancy and his desire to influence public debate from a trench he considered his own.
06:43Maradona firmly believed in the network as a necessary alternative voice in the global media landscape,
06:49and he devoted himself to it with the same passion and conviction that characterized him on the playing field.
06:56I personally feel a very strong internal happiness which I had not felt for many years,
07:04and I thank you for giving me this opportunity because you made one of my dreams come true.
07:09In other informations, social movements in the United States denounced tortures against migrants detained at Alligator Alcatraz Detention Center.
07:18According to allegations, hundreds of migrants are living in makeshift cages with insects and little access to food.
07:25These claims are supported by Democrat legislators who warn that detainees can be heard screaming for help within the prison.
07:34Despite the claims, Immigration and Customs Control officials defend Alligator Alcatraz as a safe and secure place on high standard.
07:42Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed on Tuesday that her administration has sent diplomatic notes to the United States
07:56following reports about the conditions at immigration detention centers.
08:00During her morning press conference, the head of state unveiled that the government is aware of the presence of Mexican citizens in these centers
08:08and has requested their immediate deportation to prevent their continued detention in inadequate conditions.
08:15Furthermore, Sheinbaum stated that the Mexican consulate in the United States is verifying whether there are human rights violations
08:23in cases involving Mexican nationals.
08:26To date, the Mexican government has identified 14 Mexicans detained in immigration centers in Florida
08:32and consular efforts are being made for their repatriation.
08:39When it came out that they were going to send detained migrants to Guantanamo, we sent a diplomatic note.
08:51And the moment they published that this detention center existed, we sent another diplomatic note
08:58so that any Mexican would be deported immediately and not have to spend time in this detention center.
09:10The consulate is checking whether there are human rights violations, and if so, the protocol that must be followed will be followed.
09:16But what we have requested is that they be deported immediately so that we can repatriate them.
09:22And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at TeleCity English
09:27where you've been using different formats, news updates and more.
09:30We'll be right back and stay with us.
09:32Welcome back to From the South.
09:44The Honduran government denounces the growing signs of political destabilization promoted by the far right
09:50and with the support of foreign actors.
09:52Government authorities warned that the opposition would be behind a plan to spark a popular uprising
09:58against President Xiomara Castro by August 2025.

10:19of the Central American country.
10:28In Argentina, Javier Millet's government eliminated Tuesday the National Registry for Community Dining Rooms and Picnic Areas .
10:36The registry was the body where the associations providing food services to the most vulnerable sector were listed.
10:44It was created on July 8, 2020, in order to provide maximum transparency in the allocation of public resources
10:52as well as to have an objective and statistical view of the number of physical spaces destined to community food assistance.
10:59According to the government, the decision responds to the need to optimize public resources
11:05in order to guarantee its efficient, timely, transparent and responsible use.
11:18In Argentina, Peronism closed Monday lists for the elections in Buenos Aires province, considered key nationwide.
11:24In this context, the governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, ensured that the state's strong Homeland Front left behind differences
11:33to make up the list of unity following striving negotiations.
11:38Even though the deadline spired towards midnight on Saturday, officials authorized the request for an extension
11:45due to the power outages that hid the country.
11:48These provincial elections define the Argentine Congress since Buenos Aires concentrates between 37 and 40 percent of the national electorate
11:57and the largest number of national deputies and senators are elected there.
12:01As the old saying states we were paying our dues, we were joining forces.
12:14So the truth is that we have to thank all sectors for the work done, for their generosity, for their commitment and for their understanding.
12:22In all, people have been asking us to run on the same ballot to stop Mila E to join forces to confront Mila E.
12:33And it seems to me that in that sense it is good news, excellent news, that by September 7, we would build the instrument to curb Mila E
12:41by means of the ballot of the Stay Strong Homeland Front.
12:45The Venezuelan government is assisting over 1,500 victims in the state of Amazonas after the overflow of the Orinoco River.
13:08According to local authorities, 250 families in the region lost their homes due to the weather event
13:14and were placed in temporary shelters while the torrential rains persisted.

13:33In Pakistan, authorities said the death toll following monsoon rains across the nation rose to 221 with almost 600 injured so far.
13:42The National Disaster Management Authority stated that the highest number of victims due to flash floods and landslides were shooting.
13:49Out of the 221 victims, 104 were shooting, 77 were men and 40 were women.
13:57Also, more than 800 houses have been destroyed by the rains and floods.

14:30Moreover, the diplomat unfolded that the competent entities in Moscow were monitoring the situation to set tasks for granting national security.
14:39In this regard, local outlets referred that the U.S. government had transferred several B61-12 thermonuclear bombs to the British Air Base Inn at Laken Heath.
14:52So far, neither the United States nor the United Kingdom have issued comments on this concerning event.
14:59And we have a second story coming up. Before we invite you, we are happy to announce a brand new podcast.
15:11Telesur and the China Academy presents overlap conversations from across the world on relevant issues worldwide.
15:17Tune in for this premiere on Thursday, July 24th at 7pm Caracas time on all our socials at Telesur English and at 9pm Caracas time on a regular TV broadcast.
15:29See you there. Final show break. Don't go away.
15:47Welcome back to From the South.
15:59Israeli occupation forces killed at least 63 Palestinians, including 28 seekers, in attacks across Gaza since dawn on Tuesday.
16:08The relentless Zionist aggressions come amidst the deepening starvation crisis in the besieged Gaza Strip.
16:14Israeli forces have blocked the entry of food to the enclave since March 2nd.
16:19Only the U.S. and Israeli-controlled Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has led eight distribution operating just four centers,
16:27compared with the United Nations' former network of more than 400.
16:31To date, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire at the GHF distribution centers.
16:39In this context, the United Nations denounces that the enclave is on the verge of a catastrophic famine,
16:46which is the most severe and irreversible form of malnutrition.
16:50The United Nations further noted that over a million Palestinians were doomed to it due to the Israeli Holocaust in the Gaza Strip.
16:58In this context, Palestinian authorities announced that the Israeli siege claimed 15 civilian lives due to famine in Gaza over the last 24 hours.
17:14Health authorities added that the death toll from famine and malnutrition rose to over 100, including 80 children.
17:21doctors and health personnel are currently working on saving the wounded and the sick, despite the fact they are also deprived of food by Israeli forces.
17:32The World Food Programme denounced the crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians who are trying to access food at Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution centers to survive.
17:43And French news agency AFP denounced Tuesday the dire situation of their journalists in Gaza, stating that chronic food shortages are affecting their ability to perform their job.
18:04Press teams on the ground alerted that the difficulties in obtaining enough food to support their families has become an unbearable burden, as many warn of sky-high prices for the scarce food available.
18:17In addition, they denounced the lack of clean water, which is making them ill, as some have had to cut back on their coverage.
18:25The risk of starvation amidst the ongoing Israeli blockade and airstrikes has prompted the agency's management to announce plans to evacuate its journalists working in the Palestinian enclave.
18:46Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned once more Israel's actions in Gaza, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Eranyahu and his government of surpassing Hitler in their barbarism.
18:59Unfortunately, we are faced with a truly terrible situation where even the Red Cross was not allowed to enter.
19:13As I've said before, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his massacre network have long surpassed Hitler in barbarism.
19:24Every day, dozens of innocent people die because they cannot find a bite of bread or a sip of water.
19:34No one with a shred of human dignity can accept this, remain silent, or consent to this madness.
19:45Anyone who stays silent about the genocide in Gaza becomes complicit in Israel's crimes against humanity.
20:00Enra director of communications Juliet Touma reported that they have not been able to deliver much needed humanitarian assistance to Gaza in over four months of Israeli blockade.
20:106,000 trucks, so lorries of food and medicines, they are in Jordan and in Egypt.
20:21We haven't been allowed at Enra to bring in any humanitarian assistance for four and a half months now since 2nd of March.
20:29And meanwhile, we have over 10,000 people who work for UNRWA who are on the ground who will be ready to receive those supplies and distribute them.
20:44This foundation only brings food and only dried food.
20:48We have two to four distribution points on the UN and the humanitarians had 400.
20:57They go around with a bunch of armed people and people get killed quite often whenever there is a distribution.
21:07And when we were doing this, none of that has been happening.
21:12The time when we were bringing massive amounts of humanitarian aid during the six weeks of the ceasefire,
21:20we've not had any incident of people being killed simply because we don't work with mercenaries.
21:27In other topics, on Tuesday, the Trump administration announced the U.S. will leave the United Nations Education and Culture Agency, UNESCO, after only two years of rejoining.
21:38The move is a blow to the Paris-based global organization founded after the Second World War to promote peace through international cooperation in education, science and culture.
21:49The decision to take effect in December 2026 is part of the Trump's second-term drive to pull the U.S. out of a series of global bodies, including leaving the World Health Organization,
22:01halting funding to the Palestinian Relief Agency, UNRWA, and withdrawing from the United Nations Human Rights Council.
22:16In this regard, UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay issued an official statement addressing the U.S. withdrawal from the organization.
22:25Azoulay stated to deeply regret President Donald Trump's decision to once again withdraw the U.S. from UNESCO,
22:32adding this contradicts the fundamental principles of multilateralism.
22:37The Director General assured that, however regrettable, this announcement was anticipated and UNESCO has prepared for it,
22:44stating that the organization is better protected in financial terms with the steady support of a large number of member states and private contributors.
22:53In its closing remarks, Azoulay reaffirmed that UNESCO will continue to carry out these missions despite inevitably reduced resources,
23:02and will pursue political dialogue with the U.S. administration and Congress.
