00:00Notre Dame has the face of their 2027 recruiting class.
00:03Let's talk about quarterback Teddy Gerrard and why this is so big for the Fighting Irish.
00:11Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports breaking down everything Notre Dame football.
00:14Folks, Notre Dame got a huge one on Thursday, a huge victory in the 2027 class
00:19when they gained a commitment from Kennesaw, Georgia, North Cobb signal caller, Teddy Gerrard.
00:266'3", 195 pounds, Gerrard committed to the Fighting Irish over finalists Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Georgia.
00:35So heavy Midwest flavor in that finalist, but Notre Dame was able to finish it
00:40for one of the more high risers in the entire 2027 class.
00:44I'm not even talking about quarterbacks.
00:46This young man is now rated as number two overall quarterback in the 2027 class
00:51according to the On3 rivals ranking.
00:55Well sought after, and one of the bigger just guys that have really taken the opportunity
01:01to visit camps, visit schools, throw in front of coaches,
01:05and he has continued to rise amongst these recruiting rankings,
01:09and it's been really cool to see the offer list expand, the rankings expand,
01:14but overall this is a huge commitment for Notre Dame for several different reasons.
01:18And the first one is 2027 recruiting class.
01:21He is the third commit now along with linebacker Ellis McGaskin and long snapper Sean Craft.
01:27It is huge to have a quarterback this early on in the recruiting class.
01:32This makes selling to wide receivers, selling to offensive linemen, running backs, skill position just in general,
01:38they all want to play with a really talented quarterback and a player that can say,
01:42hey, he chose the fighting Irish over a list of elite programs, and he's going to throw you the football,
01:49he's going to hand the football off, you're going to protect him for the next three to four years.
01:53That's huge for a recruiting class, to have that beacon, to have that symbol.
01:57Whether it's right, wrong, or indifferent, quarterback is the symbol of a recruiting class
02:02and symbol of a football team in general.
02:05So having that player in place is huge.
02:08On the other side of it, you're one in the state of Georgia, which Florida, Georgia, Texas, California,
02:14those are the biggest developers of college football talent in the entire country.
02:21So getting a player in that area of the country, more southeastern flair,
02:25I think is huge for this team as it continues to trend upward on the recruiting trail under head coach Marcus Freeman.
02:32Now talking just strictly about Teddy, because that's what we're here to talk about,
02:35celebrate his accomplishment here.
02:376'3", 195 pounds, this kid is coming over 30 plus total touchdowns as a sophomore in high school.
02:43We're also just talking about a kid that hasn't even played a junior year yet here.
02:46But 6'3", 195 pounds, good frame, natural thrower.
02:52Whether you're talking about short to intermediate or the ability to layer the football down the field,
02:56I really love the just overall arm talent that Teddy brings to the table.
02:59And he's a lot better athlete than he might get credit for,
03:02because he only ran for a little over 100 yards as a sophomore.
03:05But he's not asked to do that one.
03:07He doesn't like to do it.
03:09But some of the throws that he puts out on the run are really impressive.
03:13This is a lot better athlete than he's going to get given credit for,
03:16kind of in the similar vein of like a CJ Carr.
03:20Is he going to run for 500 plus yards in a season?
03:23No.
03:24But what he is going to be able to do is do enough inside the pocket and extending the pocket
03:28to throw on the run and be a weapon outside of structure when he needs to be.
03:32So folks, put in the chat right now,
03:33how pumped are you about Teddy Gerrard in the 2027 recruiting class for Notre Dame?
03:38Lead some comments as far as what you like about him,
03:41some improvements you want to see happen next,
03:42and maybe if there's a recruit on the horizon, you would say that is a must get in the 2027 class for Notre Dame.
03:48Make sure to hit that like button and subscribe on your way out.
03:50And as always, go Irish.
