00:00the expectations for notre dame football is at an all-time high entering the 2025 college football

00:05season and there's one group i want to highlight that is a huge reason for it let's talk the 2023

00:11recruiting class ryan roberts from a to c sports breaking down everything notre dame football folks

00:19as i continue to go comb through the entirety of the notre dame roster the opponents they're

00:25playing talking about top 20 players returning a college football just overall but then the top

00:3120 players returning to notre dame football team doing a lot of full landscape stuff this off

00:36season i am left in deeper appreciation than even i was previously for the 2023 recruiting class for

00:44notre dame now i look back at that group and that is for people that don't remember that is the first

00:49full recruiting class under head coach marcus freeman technically the 2022 class was the first one under

00:55his tenure but if you remember that was the off season where coach kelly left for lsu marcus

01:00freeman came in and he was just left to finish that recruiting class like that was a brian kelly class

01:07with some finishing touches from head coach marcus freeman the 2023 was his baby and that was a

01:13foundational class for this program and i want to take a look real quick at the impact that that group

01:19is going to have on this 2025 season on the offensive side of the football it starts with arguably the

01:24best running back returning in college football this next season jeremiah love fresh off of 1100

01:30rushing yards for the team and 17 rushing touchdowns dynamic weapon out of the city of st louis in the

01:38state of missouri but that is not where the impact ends ultimately you're talking about a wide receiver

01:44room that has jayden greathouse coming back who was one of the big college football stars the last two

01:50games of the playoffs last year including national title game where he had over 230 yards receiving

01:55and three touchdowns the final two games of the year you also talk about although he wasn't technically

01:59a part of that recruiting class jordan face on was a walk-on in that 2023 group as well and is now a

02:06projected starting receiver again for the second straight year for the fighting irish an absolute

02:11incredible heist you also talk about charles jagasaw who's projected start at right guard and when

02:16healthy last year in only two games he looked like the best offensive lineman that notre dame had

02:21in general thinking about that group and the impact that it's had already on the offensive side of

02:26football is even more exciting when you think about what it can accomplish in 2025 on the defensive side

02:32the 2023 recruiting class runs even deeper you can talk about in the secondary christian gray now entering

02:38second year as a starter talk about don schuler doing the same thing starting middle linebacker drake bowen

02:44jayden osbury it's such a deep linebacker room because of that class especially that fellow

02:49classmate preston zinter hasn't even been able to sniff the field defensively and then on the defensive

02:55line bubikar traori if not for the injury and only been able to play in four plus a little bit of some

03:01football game still ended the year with five tackles for loss and three sacks in only five games and i

03:06think that he was on pace to have 16 tackles for loss and 10 sacks on the season and be one of the

03:10breakout stars in college football so seeing what this group has been able to accomplish in such a

03:16short amount of time if notre dame is able to make another national championship run in 2025 the big

03:23reason for it is going to be 2023 in that recruiting class and that is the mentioning guys that could

03:28be potential players that could contribute in 2025 obviously kenny minchi is a part of the quarterback

03:33competition right now battling cj carr in that class talk about kk smith hopefully being able to stay

03:38healthy and add something to the wide receiver room if cooper flanagan was healthy and didn't

03:42have to be dealing with the achilles injury he would also be at worst the second tight end on this

03:47team so there was a lot of talent in that group not even talking about guys like sullivan azure who's

03:52going to continue to fight for a spot inside hopefully in 2025 inside a guard the defensive line

03:58can armel mucum take a step forward are we ever going to see brennan vernon like this group has been

04:03so influential and important to the foundation i think they have a chance to rise in 2025 folks
