At least 12 people died while nine others were reported missing amid the heavy rains that continue to pound and trigger widespread flooding in almost all parts of the country since last week, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Wednesday, July 23.

00:00The Philippine National Police reported earlier today that at least 12 people have died while
00:08nine others were reported missing, amid heavy rains that continue to affect and trigger widespread
00:13flooding in almost all parts of the country since last week. PNP Chief Information Officer
00:19Brigadier General Randolph Tuwano said the biggest number of casualties were due to drowning,
00:25with five fatalities reported in Calabar Zone, while three were reported in Negros Island region.
00:32Two fatalities due to drowning were also reported in Mimaropa and Metro Manila.
00:37Meanwhile, two people died after they were pinned against a tree that fell down
00:42in northern Mindanao and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. Five people were also reported missing
00:48due to flash floods in Metro Manila, while three were in western Visayas and one in Calabar Zone.
00:55The PNP data covers incidents since the onslaught of Tropical Storm Crissing that pounded the country
01:01with heavy rains and eventually triggered massive flooding in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
