00:00Good afternoon. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04There's been some heavy, sundry rain on the cards for many of us this morning.
00:07It's pushed its way northwards across the very far southeast of England.
00:11Some quite heavy downpours and some quite a bit of lightning mixed in here too across the southeast.
00:17Further showers as well across western parts of northern England, even into eastern parts of Scotland too.
00:22And it's all thanks to low pressure, very much in charge of our weather over the next couple of days.
00:26This weather front continues to push northwards. It's that one that's brought us that rain this morning.
00:30However, this low pressure system remains very close by down towards the southwest.
00:34Various weather fronts swirling around it, bringing plenty of showers through the rest of the weekend and even into the start of next week too.
00:42So looking at the rest of Saturday, that area of rain that we've seen across the southeast continues to push its way northwards,
00:48into northern parts of England, even into eastern parts of Scotland too.
00:52Plenty of heavy downpours. Again, some hail and thunder is possible mixed in there.
00:56And there's going to be further showers across parts of Northern Ireland, potentially some thunderstorms.
01:00Even across parts of Wales and southern England, we could see some thunderstorms bubbling up through the afternoon.
01:05But across parts of Northern Ireland, Wales, southern parts of England, there will be some sunshine developing between those showers.
01:11And feeling pleasant in that sunshine, perhaps not quite as warm as Friday.
01:14Highs in the south of 24, 25, potentially 26 degrees.
01:18They're feeling a little bit cooler and fresher underneath that cloud and rain.
01:22As we then go through the rest of Saturday evening, that rain continues to push northwards into parts of Scotland.
01:29Again, some heavy downpours are possible here, but it's all eyes down towards the southwest.
01:33So that area of low pressure brings a weather front pushing its way north and eastwards across parts of southwest England, parts of Wales.
01:39Again, we could see some hail and thunder mixed in here.
01:41Some heavy downpours are likely into the early hours of the morning and almost anywhere seeing a shower in places.
01:46And quite a cloudy and mild start to the day on Sunday too, perhaps not quite as mild as we saw on Friday night.
01:53The temperature's still holding up into the high teens for many of us, so still perhaps a little uncomfortable for sleeping.
02:00So that does mean quite a cloudy and perhaps quite a damp start for many of us on Sunday morning.
02:05Various bands of showers continue to swirl around the area of low pressure down towards the southwest,
02:10as well as some outbreaks of rain continuing across northern and eastern parts of Scotland.
02:13Perhaps northern Ireland getting away with a little drier conditions, at least through the first part of the day,
02:19but almost anywhere seeing a shower as we head through Sunday afternoon.
02:22There will still be some sunshine between those showers though, perhaps a bit of brightness,
02:25turning a little breezier across the very far southwest, so maybe feeling just a little bit fresher here.
02:30Though temperature's still getting up into the mid-20s for many places, 24, 25, potentially 26 degrees again,
02:37and perhaps feeling a little bit warmer across the very far north compared to Saturday.
02:41It's looking like a similar picture through Sunday evening and even into the start of Monday too.
02:46Plenty of showers continuing to swirl around the area of low pressure,
02:50so almost anywhere seeing a shower overnight Sunday and into the start of Monday.
02:54Potentially another swathe of larger, heavier showers pushing up from the south into the early hours of Monday morning too.
03:00And that sets us up as we go into parts of next week.
03:03Plenty more heavy, thundery showers on the cards for many of us,
03:06but temperatures will still be around average, so it will still feel pleasant where you do catch that sunshine.
