Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:18We acknowledge our sins, but more importantly, the compassion, the mercy, and the love of our God.
00:25We are with us always. Lord, have mercy. Give us your strength and peace in everything. Christ, have mercy.
00:35We turn to good all things for those who love you. Lord, have mercy.
00:39May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:47Let us pray.
00:48O God, who show the light of your truth to those who go astray, so they may return to the right path.
00:56Give all who for the faith they profess are comforted Christians the grace to reject what is contrary to the name of Christ,
01:04and to strive after all that does it honor.
01:07Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
01:14Amen.
01:18The reading from the book of Exodus.
01:35Moses, hearing the voice of God coming from the middle of the bush, said to him,
01:39I am to go then to the sons of Israel, and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you.
01:46But if they ask me what his name is, what am I to tell them?
01:50And God said to Moses, I am who I am.
01:55This, he added, is what you must say to the sons of Israel.
01:59You must say to the sons of Israel, The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,
02:07has sent me to you.
02:09This is my name for all time.
02:11By this name I shall be invoked for all generations to come.
02:16Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, The Lord, the God of your fathers, has appeared to me,
02:23the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob.
02:25And he has said to me, I have visited you, and seen all that the Egyptians are doing to you.
02:31And so I have resolved to bring you up out of Egypt, where you are oppressed,
02:36into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Pyrazites, the Hittites, and the Jebusites,
02:46to a land there where milk and honey flow.
02:49They will listen to your words, and with the elders of Israel,
02:52you are to go to the King of Egypt, and say to him, The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has come to meet us.
02:59Give us leave then, to make a three-day journey near this wilderness, to offer the sacrifice of the Lord our God.
03:06For myself, knowing that the King of Egypt will not let you go, unless he is forced by a mighty hand,
03:15I shall show my power, and strike Egypt with all the wonders I am going to work there.
03:20After this, he will let you go.
03:24The word of the Lord.
03:25Thanks be to God.
03:27The Lord remembers his covenant forever.
03:30The Lord remembers his covenant forever.
03:32Give thanks to the Lord, tell his name, make known his deeds among the peoples,
03:37remember the wonders of his doing, his miracles, the judgments he spoke.
03:42The Lord remembers his covenant forever.
03:45He remembers his covenant forever, his promise for a thousand generations.
03:50The covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
03:54The Lord remembers his covenant forever.
03:56He gave his people increase, he made them stronger than their foes,
04:01whose heart he turned to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.
04:05The Lord remembers his covenant forever.
04:07Then he sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, the man he had chosen.
04:12Through them he showed his marvels and his wonders in the country of Ham.
04:16The Lord remembers his covenant forever, hallelujah, hallelujah.
04:22Come to me, all you that labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord.
04:28Hallelujah.
04:29The Lord be with you.
04:35And with your spirit.
04:36A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:39Glory to you, O Lord.
04:41Jesus exclaimed,
04:43Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.
04:47Show them my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
04:52and you will find rest for your souls.
04:54Yes, my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
05:01The Gospel of the Lord.
05:03Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
05:07The burden is a burden, but because Christ is with us,
05:13that is what makes it lighter in a sense, that we are not alone,
05:18that we are giving the strength to go through the challenges that we face in life,
05:23because Christ is with us, that he is helping us carry that burden,
05:29and that is certainly reassuring.
