Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:19We acknowledge our sins. We acknowledge the great love of our God.
00:23You forgive our sins. Lord, have mercy.
00:26You give us your healing strength and empower us. Christ, have mercy.
00:31You call us away from confusion into the security of your love. Lord, have mercy.
00:37May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting. Amen.
00:47Let us pray.
00:48O God, who in the abasement of your Son have raised up a fallen world,
00:53fill you faithful with holy joy, for on those you have rescued from the slavery to sin,
01:00you bestow eternal gladness through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
01:04who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
01:11A reading from the book of Genesis.
01:13Judah went up to Joseph and said,
01:16May it please, my Lord, that your servant have a word privately with my Lord.
01:22Do not be angry with your servant, for you are like Pharaoh himself.
01:27My Lord questioned his servants,
01:30Have you, father, or brother?
01:32And we said to my Lord,
01:34We have an old father and a younger brother, born of his old age.
01:39His brother is dead, so he is the only one left of his mother, and his father loves him.
01:46Then you said to your servants,
01:49Bring him down to me, that my eyes may look on him.
01:52If your youngest brother does not come down with you,
01:56you will not be admitted to my presence again.
01:59When we went back to your servant, my father,
02:02we repeated to him what my Lord had said.
02:05So when our father said,
02:07Go back and buy us a little food,
02:10we said, We cannot go down.
02:12If our youngest brother is with us,
02:14we will go down.
02:16For we cannot be admitted to the man's presence
02:19unless our youngest brother is with us.
02:23So your servant, our father, said to us,
02:26You know, my wife bore me two children.
02:28When one left me, I said he must have been torn to pieces,
02:32and I have not seen him to this day.
02:35If you take this one from me too,
02:38and any harm comes to him,
02:40you will send me down to Sheol,
02:42with my white head bowed in misery.
02:46Then Joseph could not control his feelings
02:48in front of all his retainers,
02:50and he exclaimed,
02:52Let everyone leave me.
02:54No one therefore was present with him,
02:57while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.
03:00But he wept so loudly that all the Egyptians heard,
03:04and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.
03:07Joseph said to his brothers,
03:09I am Joseph.
03:11Is my father really still alive?
03:14His brothers could not answer him.
03:16They were so dismayed at the sight of him.
03:23When Joseph said to his brothers,
03:25Come closer to me,
03:27when they came close to him,
03:29he said,
03:29I am your brother Joseph,
03:31whom you sold into Egypt.
03:33But now do not dream,
03:35do not reproach yourself,
03:37for having sold me here,
03:39since God sent me before you
03:40to prepare to preserve your lives.
03:44The word of the Lord.
03:46Thanks be to God.
03:48Alleluia.
03:50The Lord called down famine on the land.
03:53He broke the staff that supported them.
03:56He had sent a man before them,
03:59Joseph sold as a slave.
04:01The Lord, alleluia.
04:04His feet were put in chains,
04:06his neck was bound with iron,
04:08until what he said came to pass,
04:11and the Lord's word proved him true.
04:14Alleluia.
04:16Then the king sent and released him.
04:19The ruler of the people set him free,
04:22making him master of his house
04:23and ruler of all he possessed.
04:27Alleluia.
04:29Alleluia, alleluia.
04:30The kingdom of God is near.
04:32Repent and believe the good news.
04:35Alleluia.
04:38The Lord be with you.
04:40A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:43Glory to you, O Lord.
04:46Jesus instructed the twelve as follows.
04:49As you go, proclaim the kingdom of God,
04:52because the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.
04:55Cure the sick.
04:57Raise the dead.
04:58Cleanse the lepers.
05:00Cast out devils.
05:02You receive without charge.
05:04Give without charge.
05:05Provide yourselves with no gold or silver,
05:09not even with a few coppers for your purses,
05:13with no haversack for the journey,
05:16or spirit eunuch,
05:17or footwear,
05:19or a staff.
05:21For the workman deserves his keep.
05:24Whatever town or village you go into,
05:27ask for someone trustworthy,
05:29and stay with him until you leave.
05:33As you enter his house,
05:34salute it,
05:36and if the house deserves it,
05:38let your peace descend upon it.
05:40If it does not,
05:42let your peace come back to you.
05:44And if anyone does not welcome you,
05:46or listen to what you have to say,
05:49as you walk out of the house or town,
05:52shake the dust from your feet.
05:53I tell you solemnly,
05:55on the day of judgment,
05:57it will not go as hard
05:59with the land of Sodom and Gomorrah
06:01as with that town.
06:08The Gospel of the Lord.
06:11Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
06:13God turns good out of evil.
06:19What Joseph's brother did was evil,
06:21but God turned it to good
06:23and saved them all,
06:24including him,
06:25on the long term.
06:26In the Gospel,
06:27we are reminded that
06:28when the word of God comes to us,
06:31we should not tally,
06:32we should not just put it off.
06:34We need to act.
06:35So, Lord, give me the wisdom
06:37to know your will
06:38and to act on it.
06:43Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:48for to your goodness
06:49we have this bread to offer,
06:51which the earth has given you
06:52and hence have made.
06:53It will become for us
06:54the bread of life.
06:56Blessed be God forever.
07:13Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
07:22for to your goodness
07:23we have this wine to offer.
07:25Fruit of divine work of human hands,
07:27it will become a spiritual drink.
07:29Blessed be God forever.
07:30Amen.
07:43Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
07:55that my sacrifice and yours
07:57may be acceptable
07:58to God, our Almighty Father.
08:01May the Lord accept
08:02his sacrifice at our hands
08:03for the praise and glory
08:05of God's name
08:06for our good
08:07and the good of God's Holy Church.
08:11May this obligation
08:12dedicated to your name
08:13purify us, O Lord,
08:15and day by day
08:16bring us conduct,
08:18bring our conduct
08:19close to the life of heaven.
08:22Through Christ our Lord.
08:23Amen.
08:25The Lord be with you.
08:28Lift up your hearts.
08:31Let us give thanks
08:32to the Lord our God.
08:34It is truly right and just
08:36our duty and our salvation.
08:38Always and everywhere
08:39to give you thanks,
08:40Father most holy.
08:41For your beloved Son,
08:43Jesus Christ,
08:44your word for whom
08:45you made all things,
08:47whom you sent
08:48as our Saviour and Redeemer,
08:50incarnate by the Holy Spirit
08:51and born of the Virgin,
08:54fulfilling your will
08:55and gaining for you
08:56a holy people,
08:57he stretched out his hands
08:58as he endued his passion,
09:00so as to break the bonds
09:02of death
09:02and manifest the resurrection.
09:05And so with the angels
09:06and all the saints
09:07we declare your glory,
09:09as with one voice
09:10we acclaim,
09:11holy,
09:12holy,
09:13holy Lord,
09:14God of hosts,
09:15heaven and earth
09:16are full of your glory,
09:18Hosanna in the highest.
09:20Blessed is he who comes
09:22in the name of the Lord,
09:24Hosanna in the highest.
09:25Yes, you are indeed
09:29holy, O Lord,
09:30the fount of all holiness.
09:32Make holy,
09:33therefore,
09:33these gifts,
09:34we pray,
09:35by sending down
09:36your Spirit upon them
09:37like the dewfall,
09:38so that they may become
09:40for us
09:40the body and blood
09:42of our Lord Jesus Christ.
09:45At the time
09:45he was betrayed
09:47and then willingly
09:48into his passion
09:49he took bread
09:51and giving thanks
09:52broke it
09:53and gave it
09:54to his disciples
09:55saying,
09:56take this,
09:57all of you,
09:58and eat of it
09:59for this is my body
10:01which will be
10:02given up for you.
10:08In a similar way
10:10when supper was ended
10:11he took the chalice
10:13and once more
10:14giving thanks
10:15he gave it
10:16to his disciples
10:17saying,
10:18take this,
10:19all of you,
10:19and drink from it
10:20for this is
10:21the chalice of my blood,
10:23the blood of the new
10:25and eternal covenant
10:26which will be
10:28poured out for you
10:29and for many
10:30for the forgiveness
10:31of sins.
10:33Do this
10:34in memory of me.
10:35The mystery of faith.
10:44When we eat
10:45this bread
10:45and drink this cup
10:47we proclaim
10:48your death,
10:49O Lord,
10:50until you come again.
10:52Therefore,
10:53as we celebrate
10:54the memorial
10:54of his death
10:55and resurrection
10:56we offer you,
10:58Lord,
10:58the bread of life
10:59and the chalice
10:59of salvation
11:00giving thanks
11:02that you've held us
11:03worthy
11:03to be in your presence
11:05and ministered to you.
