00:00But sometimes you just need to kind of back yourself and jump into it and be willing to learn
00:04on the job and ask all of the questions. It is an absolutely miserable day here today. It is so
00:10cold and raining but you know what? I'm still smiling and that's because I love what I do.
00:15I'm currently out here tagging calves which is one of my favourite seasons of the year
00:18and it was something I didn't even know was a career option until I was 25.
00:23What I see in the future of agriculture, I think it's going to be a very positive
00:27future. I think things are going in the right direction.
00:30I think the biggest challenge that the ag industry is going to face or the next generation
00:35of the ag industry is going to face is that we live in a world full of connectivity and
00:40access to information and facts yet the consumer of all our products of agriculture is the most
00:49disconnected from agriculture and the source has ever been. Not knowing where milk comes
00:54from or the meat on their plate comes from and I guess the next challenge that we have
00:59as the next generation of agriculture is overcoming that.
01:03We want to create a more sustainable agricultural industry for future generations. You would see
01:08on our banner it says leading the way for the next generation. That's everything that we're about.
01:12I'm really excited to see what they can do with drones and use of technology to be able to better
01:21the livestock industry.
01:23We'll make technology on farm to I guess overcome challenges such as safety to be more efficient
01:29and make data driven decisions on farm as well. So things that we can't see with the eye or
01:35somewhere that we can send a drone that we can't send a staff member either.
01:39One of the things that excites me most thinking about the future of agriculture is actually how
01:44the industry will respond to climate change. Agriculture is often the basis of our society of how we
01:49grow food, how we share food and it's often a great connector for people. In terms of climate change
01:54it is one of the biggest levers we can pull in terms of how we grow our food and how we consume it
01:59and how we actually respond to the changing climate.
02:01This is why I'm so passionate about getting more schools to recognise agriculture as a valuable career
02:07option for school kids because I just absolutely love it. It's so fulfilling. Cheers guys.
