Transcript
00:00The message behind our track, Talking Biosecurity, was to encourage people to take pride in caring for our environment.
00:10We're so excited to enter the competition again this year.
00:22Everyone loves Darwin, it's beautiful, all the sunsets and beaches, and we've got to keep it that way.
00:27I think music is a really incredible way to raise awareness for important topics such as biosecurity,
00:32because it's a fun and fresh approach to learning, and everyone loves music.
00:36One of the most enjoyable parts of the competition was the creative freedom it allowed me.
00:41I found it easier to channel my passion for the topic into the songwriting process.
00:46The challenge was balancing and education.
00:49Stay groovy, it's all gravy, yeah, it's all Gucci.
00:52We're gonna stay sharp, be smart, don't be goofy.
00:54Tay on the mic, flow like water, call me Bruce Lee.
00:57To create this song, I dedicated some time on researching about biosecurity.
01:02I searched up biosecurity in Australia on Google, and also on YouTube, and I also watch Border Security Australia.
01:09I think the message that we really wanted to share was like to educate kids our age.
01:14Yeah.
01:15We learnt about biosecurity through like different things.
01:18Some may be going to school and asking the science teachers.
01:21My grandpa's very smart with that stuff.
01:23We looked it up online a lot to really grasp the concepts.
01:27The inspiration behind the song came from the need to raise awareness about the important issues affecting our environment and communities.
01:51Maintaining biosecurity to ensure sustainable future for all.
01:55I found the competition fun because I care about nature and I love writing and making music.
02:01Before we researched it, I really didn't know much anything about this topic.
02:05I think it's important for kids our age to know about this topic because to really be able to better write the song more relevant to the topic.
02:12Because it was fun and something that we enjoyed to do. It was good.
02:15My advice would probably be to stay authentic and passionate about the topic that you're tackling.
02:21It's important to emotionally connect with the subject matter.
02:25That connection will translate into your lyrics and melodies.
02:29Some advice that I have for anyone wanting to enter the 2025 Caring for Country music competition would be to have fun and also make sure you inform yourself.
